Hacked for Everything
Aww. That's awful. :( To quote tieszen from another thread: (I thought this was a great bit of advice, ingenious way of getting a bunch of money in just a few hours, starting from nothing) After you've finished this, you should have enough cash to get some mediocre equipment for slaying. Or, you could keep passively earning money (herb farming, dailies, MTK, etc) while you work towards a chaotic rapier, since you don't seem to be too far off. By the time you get your rapier, the other money-making methods will have earned you enough for some decent armour, and you can go back to slayer/barrows/etc to start earning your bank back.

May Behind-the-scenes Review
As finals week is getting dangerously close, I find myself desperately searching for more ways to procrastinate (this blog post being one of them- I've got a speech to do in 2 hours. Oops.) And what better way to waste time than to get back online and start playing runescape again? After catching back up on the things I've missed in the last few months, I'm excited for a fresh new month of updates. And here's my thoughts on today's Behind The Scenes. Capes of Distinction Well... they tried. I feel like many people are rather disappointed after seeing the spoiler pictures posted on twitter and facebook, and I kind of feel the same way. I think that putting the cape design up to a majority vote was probably a bad idea. Particularly since it was separated into so many parts- no one could have had any idea what each section would look like when combined with the others. Oh well. It probably could have been a lot worse. In any case, I look forward to wearing it around for a few hours. I do like the idea of the milestone capes. Perhaps this will encourage more people to do what I've done for years- keep their skill set decently rounded instead of rushing for one 'easy' 99 after another while ignoring skills that they don't really like. Skillers will probably be annoyed that they they can't wear any of the capes, but I don't think that's anything new. Dwarf Lava Flow Mine I just have one thing to say.. Why? We already have the LRC for "mid-to-high-level" mining purposes. I suppose this is for people who are kinda-almost-able-to-use-LRC-but-not-quite. The exp boosting outfit sounds nice though. It would save you around 1 mil exp or so on your way to 99, so I can't really argue with that. Death Hats "Death Hats" sounds more like the title of one of their april fool's prank updates. I can't say I'm really all that interested in this update since I don't do pvp, but I'm sure there are pking pures out there who feel like they don't do enough bragging and boasting already. This will be a glorious update for them. Upgrades Week / Graphical Improvements The little updates are usually my favorites. Most of the small upgrades won't affect me much, though (I've never hammered coconuts before, as delightfully dirty as it sounds). But I'm always happy to see when Jagex takes player's suggestions and does something about it. I'm sure the new graphics update will look good too. I think they're doing a great job so far- last weekend, my boyfriend mistook me playing runescape for WoW, because the graphics were so nice. Fremennik Sagas I think I'm most excited about this one. Kind of a like a quest, but repeatable, and has something to with dungeoneering? Sounds like a good combination to me. Hopefully it'll provide an alternative way to get exp for dung while still gaining tokens. I'm sure the f2p players will appreciate it as well. It's nice to see them getting more updates these days.

Quests?
If you currently have no sure fire way of getting 500k+/hr you could get 2 more summoning levels and could probably pull 700k+/hr at mort myre fungus. For that you need to finish nature spirit. At current g.e. prices it's more around 550k/hour, but still, it's nice and consistent. Summoning is worth leveling either way, so this would be a good idea.
-
Quests?
Looking at your quest list, I'd say you should do... -Recipe for Disaster and as many subquests as you can do. Barrows gloves are invaluable and definitely worth working towards, but even the previous gloves are great for lower levels. -Fairy tale 1 (for the magic secateurs), 2 (for fairy rings), and 3 (if you can do it, for the ability to use fairy rings without a staff). Fairy tale 2 Is really important, fairy rings are immensely useful for getting around to a lot of out-of-the-way places. -Ghost's Ahoy. Ectophial is a very nice teleport to have for getting to the nearby farming patch. -Royal trouble, for the additional workers on your kingdom. Managing your kingdom is an excellent source of reliable cash. Those are the ones that stuck out to me, I might have missed some but I think I got the main ones.

Age Old Money Making
Well, under level ~70 you really should be careful saying that, experience tells us that lots of people grow to like dungeoneering as they get used to it. This is true, I'm a self-proclaimed dung hater. But I'm working towards frosties (and a rapier!) as well, and as I'm slowly climbing up the levels I actually find myself enjoying it. Use tears of guthix, penguin points, whatever you need to do the get past the awful low levels, and just jump into it. Once you get a good method down it's easy and actually quite enjoyable. Even better if you do some duo's or teams with a few good friends. Would recommend against random teams though.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that, then! :)

Dungeoneering questions
Thanks for the all the info, tieszen, that helps a lot. I just upgraded blazer to tier 5 for quick-switch, it seemed more useful to me than blitzer. I guess I will start to look into monster weaknesses now as I go. Forgotten warriors go down so much faster with mage, it's almost ridiculous, haha. I do intend to start doing teams or duo's with my clanmates once I get up a little higher, but I have to catch up to them first! Also, is 25-35 minutes a good amount of time to be spending per floor on my c6 meds? I've been steadily getting faster as I've started to improve my techniques. I'm wondering what kind of times I should be aiming for.

Thanks ambler ;D Just got 55 dung, and I'm going to bed for tonight. I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of this ridiculously complicated skill. Hopefully by the end of next month I will have my rapier! We'll see... I guess it depends on how much free time I have :]

What Ammo Bind?
Your stat sig doesn't seem to be working, so I'm not sure how far away from 70 rc you are. But I would definitely just go for 70 rc, it's annoying but it really doesn't really take that long once you get started. Then definitely swap the law bind out for a surgebox (not blastbox). Unless of course you're f2p or can't use wave/surge spells... again, can't tell because I don't know your stats.

Dungeoneering questions
Thanks for the tips guys :] I just got my surgebox, I think the problem was just that none of them were of a high enough level up until now.

Receiving damage.
Well, you're pretty much always going to have to have some form of healing. Bunyip at level 68 summoning, guthan's armour set, soul split at 92 prayer, and enhanced excalibur from seer's achievement diary are all healing options that don't involve food. But if you have access to any of those, you could probably find a better place to train than moss giants anyways.

Dungeoneering questions
I've just started working towards my goal of getting a chaotic rapier. I'm mostly soloing since it's way too much of a hassle to find good teams. So, questions for you guys! 1. I'm rushing c1's for my lower floors, what would be considered a good amount of time to be spending per floor? I'm currently around 3-4 minutes per floor which I feel is probably way too slow. Any tips on how I can be faster? 2. At what point should I stop rushing and be doing c6 meds? Currently doing my last 5 floors, should I stop rushing sooner than that? (I can only reach floor 26) 3. Should I be switching my attack styles much based on the monsters I'm fighting? I have a prom 2h with berserker ring on tier 5. I pretty much only slash since I can't be bothered to switch constantly (except for bosses of course). 4. I've been keeping my eye out for a surgebox to bind but so far the only thing that's been dropping are blastboxes. Are surgebox drops really that uncommon? Got one! Finally. 5. Is it worth spending tokens to upgrade any other ring styles? I don't have points in anything else. 6. When I'm doing c6 meds, should I bother killing everything? Does it have any effect on my exp? 7. When will I start seeing those night spiders or whatever it is that drops the SSH? I remember seeing a link somewhere the other day that had more information about getting one, if someone could point me towards that I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance guys! :]

EEE
Aggro is the term for when a monster is aggressive towards you, meaning you are the one being attacked. So if three people are attacking a boss, the person who is being targeted by the boss is said to be the one who has the aggro. "Aggroing" a monster (or several monsters) is basically just going around and getting them to attack you. (Such as the healers when fighting Jad- you want to aggro them so they focus on you instead of healing)

Ambler3's Blog- [VITALIS DROP!!] :D
Aww! That's awful :( Hope you can make your money back soon. Very nice screenshots though, I wish I had the guts to do boss hunting and all that stuff, hah. P.s. If you're still having trouble with getting a fire cape, I've been hearing about a new method where you kill him using only deflect prayers. I can't seem to beat him with the regular methods either so I'm going to try it out. Maybe it'll work for you :)

' N O R R ii E ' + + Blog to Mastering Runescape
Oh wow, it's been about 4 months since I updated here. Oops. I've been so busy with school and being social and all that nonsense, I really haven't been getting online a whole lot. But I'm back! For now... And I'm finally working on dungeoneering, seriously this time! I've gotten 8 levels in the last couple days, and I'm finally starting to get the hang of it. I think my biggest problem was that I was kind of a completionist- I wanted to mine every rock, chop every tree, fish every pond, etc. Also learning how to properly use gatestones has been immensely helpful. I got my prom 2h bound the other day with some help from a clanmate, and I just hit level 50 for my second bind today so I'm hoping to get my SSH as soon as possible! In the meantime I'm just going to keep solo rushing and doing c6 meds for my last 5 floors. Which, by the way, are much easier now that I know how to do them properly and quickly. Now that classes are nearly over, maybe I'll have time to play more. Or maybe not, since I'll be working two jobs this summer. Oh well.

Making pastry dough... erghh...
Pretty sure the water must be in a bucket, or possibly a jug.

There's been plenty of these topic so sorry.
ok. So whatlevel should i use peng points and tears to? Also a goal is chaotic rapier Start using your peng points on rc while leveling up your dung with tears. Then at 70 rc switch your peng points to dung. Since you get more exp from each peng point if you're a higher level, you'll be better off getting it up a little bit more first. Also don't forget to go and 'discover' the resource dungeons as you reach the required levels for them, it'll give you a little boost of dung exp.

chance of getting barrows items?
I know this isn't the answer you want, but it's honestly completely random. I've had dry streaks of 250+ (and that isn't even too bad, I've heard of much worse), but on other occasions I've gotten an item twice in a row. From my experience it's about 1 in 50 but your luck may vary.

Been gone for a bit, a few questions
I haven't really played at all since the free trade/wildy update, although I have been occasionally skimming over the updates so I feel like I haven't missed too much. But I have a couple quick questions. 1. Are any of the new quests worth doing right away? My quest log shows Clockwork syringe, elemental workshop IV, king of the dwarves, and prisoner of glouphrie. I'll do them all eventually but if any should be done right now, I will. 2. I see a couple new bits of armour and weapons, most of it looks overpriced though. Is the Brackish blade good for anything? Any other significant combat changes? (I'm working on slayer at the moment) 3. How is the exp on the new minigame, Livid farm? Are the spells worth unlocking? Any estimate of how long it might take to unlock all of them? 4. I remember hearing about an update to the ring of wealth. Is it worth using now in some cases, or should I continue with the ferocious/berserker rings? 5. The urn update sounded interesting, are they a good idea to use? Particularly for slayer, when killing demons and such to collect ashes... It sounds good but I'm wondering how effective they actually are. Thanks in advance, guys :]

Looking forward to a more mature runescape
At first, I was a bit upset with the wilderness & free trade changes. I hated the idea that runescape would be going back to the old days of level-3-bald-green-shirt-guy bots, item scammers, and gloating pkers (after knowingly killing someone on a treasure trail!). But I think I was wrong in being so angry. Especially after today's update, which gave us the long-awaited ability to remove the language filter. A couple months back I started moving away from runescape. Maybe it was just boredom, maybe it was finals coming up and studying taking up most of my time, or maybe I was growing out of this game that I've loved for all these years. I found myself playing other games. Games with better combat systems. Games with more intuitive controls (and customizable hotkeys, damn it!). Games with unrestricted language, trading, and just more control overall given to your unique playing experience. There are, admittedly, a lot of things that runescape lacks. And it'll take time for us to get those things, if we ever do. But I can see that right now, Jagex is working towards the most important aspect of any RPG - Freedom. That's why we play this game, instead of one with specific levels, or zones, or any other way of separating one part of the game from the next. MMORPGs are often known for their free-roaming, take-it-at-your-own-pace kind of gameplay. And after all this time, the game we know and love had become more restrictive. Because it's easy to see something wrong and just add a new rule to get rid of it. But it isn't easy to find a solution that retains your freedom, while fixing the problem too. Jagex isn't quite there yet, but they're trying. They've made some massive improvements already, and a lot of smaller steps in the right direction. I just hope that it doesn't stop here. (And hey, maybe next update they'll give us WASD controls. Or not...but a girl can dream, right?)

Why even bother disguising it?
It did say something about the world record on the page, but they removed it. And I guess that's why it irritates me- it feels like they're hiding their intentions.
-
Why even bother disguising it?
I'm more than a little bit upset about the way jagex is doing the 'free trade & old wildy vote' situation. No, I'm not a hater for free trade and old-style pking. I'm perfectly happy with the way things are now, and I could really go either way with the whole situation. Personally, I'm fine with free trade as long as we keep the grand exchange, even if some changes need to be made to it- other MMO's have similar mechanisms that work just fine (such as WoW's auction house), so I can see the grand exchange continuing to work as well with a few modifications. Pking and the wilderness doesn't directly affect me much- I've never pked personally. And if it does come back, I'm sure there will be a boost to the economy, hell, it might even balance it out a little bit. Junk trading can go by the wayside, we won't have to put up with it anymore and I definitely like that. But that's not what this post is about. It seems to me (and maybe this is just a conspiracy theory, but what the hell) that Jagex already has full intentions to bring back the wildy & trade. The whole vote is just a formality. First and foremost, does it not seem odd to anyone that there isn't a 'No' option? We simply have the choice to vote yes. There's no way to see how much actual competition there is against the 'yes' voters. The voting page itself is a bit confusing as well. Secondly, why are we not required to actually log in to vote? You don't need a password. Actually, you don't even need an account. If you wanted, you could just go on the highscores, pick a random name and type theirs in to vote. The very idea of this is just begging for people to abuse the system. For all I know, someone may have already signed my name as a yes voter, even though I certainly haven't done so myself. I'm also a bit upset about the wording used on the voting page- very strong language is being used to urge people to vote in favor. On the other hand, the paragraph about voting no is weak in comparison. Arguments have been made that this isn't about the wilderness or free trade at all. It's very possible that this is just a bid for another guinness world record. I'm not sure if I believe this, but you can find a lot of convincing arguments posted around the various forums. What this means to me, is that all of this is simply a ploy for attention. I generally approve of the things that Jagex does. I've stood by and argued on their side for some of their most controversial updates and changes. But I find this to be downright insulting. So, go ahead and vote 'yes', or ignore the poll altogether. It really doesn't matter either way.

Thanks everyone :D Sorry I haven't been posting lately, between finals and cataclysm I've been a bit busy.. haha. Just read the new update about free trade & wildy... I'm not voting yes, to be honest.

200 mil
Unfortunately, some of the most profitable things in the game are combat (bosses, high level drops, slayer, etc), so you're severely limiting yourself. You may do well flip merchanting, but no one is going to tell you what items they use, since the more people are flipping a particular item, the less profitable it becomes. In general you want to look for an item that is fairly stable, as this will be less of a risk. There are some skills that can be profitable, but in general they're going to be much slower than merching or combat. If you insist on skilling, don't expect to reach your goal any time soon. Sorry, but it's true.
