There was a guide in AoW that showed how to gain cooking levels fast and easy, but I can't find it so I will you the jist of it. You goto Karamja on a free server with cash, a tinderbox and noted logs. You goto the gen store that all the auto fishers use to dump raw fish. Sell 1 log buy a load of raw fish, light the log and cook the load of fish. Then sell cooked fish back to store and repeat. When you run outta raw fish, switch servers.

Are drops a factor? If not , and you have access to smokw dungeon, I would Dust Devils. Since you are there for training, if you happen to get a d chain drop, Booyah !. IF not, oh well.

a pure is a character is a one skill character like a pure fisher or pure miner. It can be fun and challenging.

If you train at PC , yes it is. If you train at any monsters with decent drops use a Ring of Wealth.

According to the knowledge base, you still need the elemental shield. This could be an oversite on Lagex's part though.

The guy at the end of the docks in Port Khazard can fix em. Also with decent smithing you can fix them yourself on a POH armor stand.

not specifically it increases to chance of rare drops

I believe all smithing and alching is not cost effective unless you mine ores yourself.
