You have to finish quest to get/wear barrows , but you can get/wear other gloves as you do the different parts of the quest. Such as addy, mith, rune and dragon gloves. The more more quests you finish the more gloves you gain access to.

best gloves is barrows from RFD quest best boots is rune boots others are a matter of opinion

If you were looking to do this a good spot is the mine North of Al Kharid. All though it may be crowded. Also I have seen posts about people who were going to powermine and offering to tell where so people could collect free iron. Or pay a small fee to find out where and when.

it is usually done with iron. You mine and drop. Concentrating on gaining xp.

In this game you have to defend to Void Knight for 20 mins or destroy all 4 portals before he dies. If you defend the knight you get 1 Pest point if you do at least 50 pts of damage. If your group destroys the 4 portals you get 10x combat level in gp. Dont know if you have to get 50 pts to still get the money though. The different monsters in game have different abilities. Some teleport to the Knight and attack him. Some range him. Some destroy gates and fences making it easier for others to get closer to Knight. Some heal portal and some annoy/attack players. Dont know of any requirements to wield, it is pretty much useless as a weapon unless your fighting shades. 25k to 45k

I've run 3 down to 0 and never once saw any special effects.
