  1. Walka, getting a plane into orbit is just as hard if not more so than getting a rocket into orbit. The way we deal with it is this: We harvest most of our resources from the asteroid belt, and we try to avoid sending things from earth into space, since earth's gravity is way higher than mars or any asteroid. Plus we have a space elevator nearly complete on Mars. (Well, me and Norway do.)
  2. Oh, I forgot to mention, we're also going to be starting designs on a type of floating city. Floating, as in on water. I think japan did something similar to this earlier, but once completed, the city will be about 5x5 miles, and fully self sustaining. This won't be for a while though.
  3. Here's an update on the empire itself: In order to help ease overpopulation in urban areas, we are experimenting in underground habitats. The habitat will be built over the next few years, and should house up to 100,000 people. The land above it will be used for growing food, and there will be several underground fields with artificial lighting, so it will be fully self sustaining should it be needed. We are also working on enhancing the use of high speed monorail type trains, in order to reduce the amount of energy we need. Tens of thousands of miles of rails are being built all over the empire, starting with the Americas. Should the underground habitat be successful, we plan to use much of the land in the former US for such habitats, and allow the land about the habitats to be a nature preserve. Currently in the Brazilian US the only rebuilt cities are coastal cities along the eastern coast. In Mexico there are many smaller towns, but no major cities as of yet. We are planning on opening our first public fusion reactor, it should provide power for the majority of the country that it's in. Any waste produced by it will be shipped into space, and put into a decaying orbit around the sun. Border Security is being tightened in Africa, as in the Americas it is a non problem, but we are getting a lot of illegal immigrants. We are putting into place simple ways they can become citizens. Negotiations with a few more African countries are going well, and since almost all of their country's leaders are corrupt, they are easily bribed. The colony on Mars is going well, it now has 12 million people, and shipping to mars using our main ships has ceased, though there are some private shuttles going back and forth. We have declared most of our Antarctic land a nature preserve. That's all I can think of right now. EDIT: Stealth submarines are pretty much impossible, though most submarines are pretty much invisible to sonar or radar if they are not moving, and on the ocean's floor. Simply because there is a huge amount of water moved every time the submarine moves, and it's a giant hunk of metal that's underwater, and the way that planes are stealthed wouldn't work on submarines. I could be wrong though.
  4. Or we just ignore that. Plus Jupiter is a very important planet, and life on earth would probably end without it. I'll sell you a ship. 300 billion for a colony ship, or an industrial ship (for extraterrestrial mining). Or both for 550 billion. The multi (industrial) ship isn't very useful without the colony ship though. It would take me 5 years from now to complete one ship, or 7 years from now to do both. I thought you were building me a ship :o I am. Yours will be done in 2 years, and then I will build his.

  6. Bummer. And I think Russia, Germany, and I are mainly considered superpowers because together we control about 60% of the world's land, and atleast that much of it's gdp. I don't know though.
  7. Ah ok, it just kind of seemed like more. And another argument for costs of things being a bit ridiculous is this: As production technology advances, so does the things were making. If I wanted to build a f22 in the game now, it might be cheaper, but if I wanted to build one of my HISF planes (One of the most advanced planes in the game) it would take a lot of money still, even though production tech has improved. In 20 years it might cost less to build a hisf, but to build whatever is new then would still cost a lot.
  8. They aren't HAWs. They are HAVs (Humanoid Assault Vehicles). They cost roughly 80,000 each unit to produce, and I have invested 100 billion over a time-frame of multiple years to produce them, which definitely will not bankrupt my country. They are also much smaller than HAWs since they aren't tanks, but rather a humanoid vehicle that is controlled by humans (one per) inside them. Three years might be a pretty short time-frame to produce them in, yes, but most other countries produce something far-out or ridiculous each year/every few years. I have to exaggerate a little bit to keep up. To further clear up confusion, HAVs are exo-suits. I meant HAV's, I couldn't remember which abbreviation is which. But for reference on how much 80,000 is in military spending, look at this. 1 Javelin missile costs 80,000. The launcher costs 125,000. For a shoulder mounted rocket. I find it hard to believe a full exosuit would cost that price. And rocco, the resources to build them would still cost the same or more, and since no one has invested in more efficient production for tanks and the like, no there isn't. And how exactly is your moon base supporting so many people, since there is no air, other than whats inside the buildings.
  9. Oh and guys, a lot of people's tank/air force production numbers are ridiculous. Someone said they made 10,000 unmanned fighters. Ok, think of it this way, a Raptor costs 122 million. Unmanned fighters are undoubtedly more advanced, but let's just say they cost a mere 100 million each. 10,000 *100 million is a trillion dollars. Throwing that amount around would mean your country would be severely in debt. The USA had only 7500 or so planes in the air force, iirc. And tanks each take about 3 weeks to produce, and you only have so many factories, so you can't pump out 100,000 in a year. Hell, the US only had about 10,000 tanks. Also, making robotic suits (ie: HAW's) would take even longer than tanks, and cost way more, and sere made like 800,000 in a few years. That would bankrupt your country, or throw you so far into debt that you would never get out.
  10. All of our 65 military satellites, and our 12 manufacturing stations are being modernized with new technology. Each of the stations will now house a smaller version of our a-neutronic fusion reactor, providing them with power. All excess power will go into plasma shielding, which will cover an area of a few hundred feet around each station. Also, the stations exteriors are being redesigned to incorporate highly heat resistant reflective materials. This will provide them with a good deal of protection against lasers. Construction of bomb shelters is going well, in two more years it will be complete enough that most people will have a place to go should the need arise. Our new tank type is still in it's early stages, and our assault rifle, and new line of infantry weapons will be ready in two-three years. New types of countermeasures which will be used for our new tank are also in research stages. In response to the findenlanders (I think) of weaponizing the h1n1 virus, pandemic preparation is also underway. The h1n1 virus was full mapped years ago, since it's first major outbreak in 2009 sparked a panic, so even a weaponized version of the virus isn't much of a threat.
  11. 100 million is also completely, completely ridiculous. If you look at the predicted populations for those countries in 2045, you'd end up with a total of about 28 950 000 people. No matter how much propoganda you put out for people to reproduce, no country could possibly have 75 million people in that amount of time. Even if you did somehow do that, your population breakup would be something like this: 13 million adults under 40 15 million adults over 40 75 million kids under 18 So in other words, you would be able to pull a few million for an army. Max. But you don't have 100 million, that's ridiculous. with your actual population, which if you did a lot of promoting having kids would be a max of 35 million, you could pull maybe a million troops. If you did anymore, everyone would starve, and if your army was that big, everyone would already have starved, your cities would have fallen into disrepair, no one would do basic tasks, you wouldn't have any exports, you wouldn't be able to pay your soldier, you would get no money whatsoever from taxes, and you would be overthrown. And hedgehog is right, you'd need nitrogen and all. In reality, I think 3/4 of what we breath is nitrogen, but I could be wrong.
  12. What countries do you control? And a lightsaber? Really? No.
  13. 20 million? Finland and Sweden combined have around 18 million people total. Germania has like 700 million people, and they're army is 35 million. I have around 900 million and my army is about 13 million. Even if you somehow had even 200 million people, 20 million would be about half of those fit for military service, your entire country would starve, basic order would collapse becuase there would be no where near enough people to farm, or do basic necessary jobs. Your national gdp would plummet to nothing, and you wouldn't be able to afford an army. And that's if you had 10x as many people as you actually do. The USA in real life's army is only a few million, and china only has a few million also, and they are the biggest country in the world, and the US has the most money.
  14. I'm not really interested. My latest colony ship (the eneveta) is self sustaining, and probably holds more people than the terravenger would, and I don't really see the purpose of just sending a colony out into space in hopes something good will happen. EDIT: As death said, 3k posts.
  15. It can be paid for over up to 7 years. But whatever works for you within that constriction.
  16. It would cost 300 billion, and take 3 years to produce, since I have stopped normally producing them, and it is only upon request that I build them now. Well, that me and Norway build them, it's a joint operation. And for diplomacy, all the nations I have interest in, and am in discussions with, I expect will not join me for some time. So it will be some years atleast.
  17. Nah, the phillipines gained independence in the 40s, I think.
  18. How about only one acquisition of new territory through diplomacy every 7 years (1 week)? We should also probably make wars last longer. A war that lasts less than a day (real life) doesn't make much sense unless the nation has no organised military or no military at all. Germany in world war II plowed over most of europe in just a couple years, even countries with armies. And puerto rico is owned by the US.
  19. Fusion bombs are, if they don't use a fission trigger, clean. I think I'm the only one to have invested into fusion though, which I started researching with our first space ship (which started 2 days into the thread), so it's come a long way. The only major fusion reactors though are the ones on my ships, because they are very expensive to set up, even though they end up being cost effective.
  20. The Brazilian army still stands by that humans are more effective than robots, and in all likelihood, always will be. Mechs are great for support, but nothing can replace a standard army. Though we are in the process of researching a new type of tank. It will look very little like any tanks in real life, it will be much smaller, and have a very different defense system. We're probably going to release this, along with our assault rifle design, and a new set of standard infantry weapons in a couple of years. Just a question, the reason nuclear bombs are banned is because of the side effects, like fallout and all, right?
  21. Just for the record, my military is roughly 13 million total. We also have 12,000 elite spec ops. Since spec ops soldiers themselves can only serve for a few years before their bodies catch up to them, the majority of those 12,000 are held in cryogenic sleep (they can opt out of that, but most want to serve their country and nothing else) until they are needed, so they don't age. They are awakened periodically though.
  22. I think that would literally be the limit for an army, due to logistics, with an empire your size. Though of course if you were ever attacked you could always conscript like crazy and logistics matter less if it's their land and lives they're fighting for.
  23. I'm enfp. And ross, for now I want to design my own battleships, so I'd rather not do a joint project just now.
  24. Rocco, the game splits from reality at 2009. If you want to start prototypes, you have to start them, you cant already have them when the majority of countries in the game don't have them. Just a note, we're also in negotiations cameroon, gabon, central african republic, ugana, tanzania, malawi, rwanda, burdundi, equatorial guinea, in part of a deal with germany about the rest of Africa. The final design touches are being put onto our newest assault rifle. They will be unveiled in one and half years.
  25. Weaponized lasers. Kinetic bombing. As you can see, even a dirt poor country could have these by 2050. A normal country would have them by 2025, easy. Weaponized lasers sort of, but no countries in the game were actually researching them then. And since you said you were essentially starting at 2025, you wouldn't necessarily. Also, the US expects to have a prototype around 2025, iirc, for kinetic bombing.
