And icbm's can't hit space stations. Mirrors can do a lot to prevent even high powered lasers, but they will eventually just melt. All my sattelites and stations have heavy duty polished metal mirroring to help prevent laser damage.

The thing is, for something with mass to travel above or equal to the speed of light, it would take an infinite amount of energy, according to Einsteins special theory of relativity. I would say we'd be infinitely more likely to be able to build our own solar systems than to be able to travel faster than light. Warp holes are actually more realistic than ftl travel, since it's technically not ftl, but they don't exist, and they were just an idea (like a "what if" sort of thing). And japan is roughly 900 miles long. There is no way they can travel at over 1100 miles per hour. And that doesn't even include all the obstacles they have to get around. Most military planes cant do that. You're saying that bipedal mechs could travel at mach 1.5... No. And of course Russia is going to protect him. He said he would help him about 5 pages ago if anyone attacked him.

Well I meant more along the lines of interstellar war being possible, for example, it would be possible for all of Brazil to (over a looooong time) retreat to alpha centauri. Any war between us then would be interstellar. But, looking up all these distances between galaxies and all is making my brain hurt. The sheer number of galaxies in our area blew my mind.

I guess interstellar. I think that usually means within this galaxy, but I don't know. Interstellar wars could still happen, alpha centauri is only 4 years away at lightspeed. We'll see how the thread goes.

Sere, I meant that because we are all fully omniscient of our empires, we don't age, we don't die, and we're not actually in the game world. And the closest galaxy is is 2 and a half million light years away. We will never reach it. Even with the theoretical idea of wormholes, we will never reach it. Even in fiction with ftl travel (ie: mass effect, star wars) I think they are confined to their galaxy.

A lot of the stuff in this thread is impossible with today's technology. However FTL travel is completely impossible. You just can't travel faster than the speed of light. There's a theory that you could use wormholes to bend two parts of space closer together and travel through a shortcut. : Wormholes don't exist, it's a theory/plot device.

Since each of us is omniscient over our own countries, perhaps we could be omniscient over our off earth colonies, so that way we can effectively control them even though there's no superluminal communication. There are 20 or more solar systems within 10 lightyears. that's plenty

Were you not also helping with FTL travel? It's impossible. It breaks so many laws of physics. And hyperspace would require there not only being other dimensions, but a convenient dimension that works that way, then a way for us to reach it. FTL is stupid. Honestly. The best research you could do is make traveling at near lightspeed easier and more energy efficient.

I'm sure someone is going to leave their computer on for a year without using it just for that achievement. But, all achievments that require you to top the multiplayer scoreboard. Only like 5 people will ever get that. And all multiplayer achievements on old games that no one plays.

So here's what brazil is doing in total. Most of these projects started a while ago, I'm just telling everyone once again. -Plasma research. Mostly for aerodynamics and contained atmosphere environments. -New line of infantry weapons, and an assault rifle, and a new type of tank. Been in R&D for 11 years. -Various new types of habitats, underground, and floating on the oceans. Three underground habitats are completed, and 97 more are planned. This will help ease overpopulation, and make the US more habitable again. Ocean habitats are still in R&D -Building another space battleship. ETA 5 years -Building a space elevator ETA: 6-7 years -Building a new type of colony ships ETA: Unknown -Building a global network of anti-icbm satellites ETA: 6 years or more -Researching high energy directed particle weapons. Been R&D for a decade. This will probably work together with the anti ICBM satellites -Various secret projects -Others I probably forgot. And grim, it would probably shoot down a missile from space if it was capable of it.
