  1. Here's a link with predicted future populations. Link So sri lanka would have 23 million. And in 2025 there were not prototypes of those types of weaponry yet. You'd have to start researching them yourself, as most countries don't have research on those it wouldn't make sense for you to start out with them. Rest of that is fair.
  2. Usually we help out newer players. Most technology is public, so so it's only the stuff that only one country has that they end up behind on.
  3. I'll postpone adding shields to it for a few years for good measure. Progress on a space elevator on Mars is going great. With 2009 technology, it could already have been built on mars/the moon (were we able to get there) so it's not too hard with modern advances. Once this is complete on mars, production of ship will be so much easier, and then the next step is getting one built on Earth. We have also passed a bill recently that will put a nice chunk of money forward in order to fund public bomb shelters, and private bomb shelters all over our territory, so that should war ever happen our casualties will be much lower from bombardment.
  4. The only difference from what we already had is just it's heated a bit more, which isn't too tough with the amount of energy the ship's reactor produces. It's still pretty basic shielding though, it's not adaptive, and even though the reactor is really powerful, at this point we can only have shields on for a while. Or we will only be able to, it's not quite done yet. EDIT: To make it a bit fairer, I could just delay the addition of shields to the ship for a few more years, since I guess it was kinda fast.
  5. My Desta class Battleship is almost completed. Here are some new features that I hadn't announced before. There will be basic plasma shielding, which is created by heating up plasma even more than normal, and it gets dense enough that other matter has difficulty passing through it. This is extremely effective against railguns since railguns are based on kinetic impact rather than an explosion, and this would slow the projectile down significantly, so it would barely scratch the hull, depending on how powerful the railgun was that shot it. This ship's energy is provided by the most powerful reactor in existence, since we are the only country with the technology to build them, so it's weapons/shield systems have plenty of power, as does the thrusters. Here's a writeup on it. Desta A1 Flagship The Desta is the pinnacle of modern technology. Over a kilometer long, and capable of near luminal speeds, the Desta is equipped with innovative technology including: -Plasma Windows for the main hangar -Mass Driver based weapons and back up engine system -The first full sized aneutronic reactor -Superheated Dense Plasma based shields -The most advanced possible artificial gravity system. (Based mostly upon acceleration, but centrifugal force is a back-up) And the parts of the ships are the following: In the far rear is the main thruster, with the reactor just in front of that (internal). Below that is the loading bay, where a ramp can come down. Then, the hangar, with the blast door open. Below the hangar are several weapon systems, and more are in front of it. On the top of the ship, and in front of the hangar is the bridge. In the far front is a biodome capable of growing food in gravity-free enviroments, but there are also facilities for harvesting gases from Gas Giant planets, along with sophisticated production/repair facilities, and storage for solidified gases which are slowly melted in order to maintain an atmosphere similar to the earth's. The ship also has facilities for cyrogenic sleep for the entire crew of 1200, or the ability to carry 1200 extra people in those facilities. It will be launched next year.
  6. If paperclips was still around he would take great offense.
  7. To be honest, if she's 17, in most states, shes legal for anyone. Even 95 year olds. As creepy as that may be, I don't think he was doing anything illegal. Round these parts if you're 17 you're limited to the under 18 crowd. 16 is limited to the 17 under. 18 can only date higher. It's weird how that law changes state to state. Ah, where I'm at it's 15 is limited to 15-18, then 16 is just 15+
  8. Oh, one more note about the planet I'm at. Alpha centauri is a binary system, in other words there are two suns, but they both have stable orbits iirc so there is, in theory a stable habitable zone. I really shouldn't say it's at rigil kentaurus, since it's really at alpha centauri, but rigil is the important part of the system, atleast for us.
  9. I wasn't actually clear, Rigil Kentaurus is just another name for alpha centauri a. I just like using that more since it's an actual name, my bad. Also, I guess we shouldn't count mars as one of the 3 since that was artificially done.
  10. The odds of having even 1 habitable planet close to us is low, considering in real life we've discovered a few hundred planets, iirc, and none are thought to be habitable. Within 15 lightyears of us, there are 2 systems that would have the highest chance for human life, rigil kentarus in alpha centauri, and our own system. Then there are maybe 8 or so with a very small chance of being able to have habitable planets due to the type of stars there are (Three types of stars make for a habitable system, yellow stars, colder white stars, and warmer orange dwarf stars) And I thought the european war was WWIII? EDIT: Also, in all likelihood, for a planet to develop with a atmosphere like our own, it would require plant life similar to our own in that they produce oxygen, otherwise the atmosphere would be unbreathable.
  11. To be honest, if she's 17, in most states, shes legal for anyone. Even 95 year olds. As creepy as that may be, I don't think he was doing anything illegal.
  12. That reminds me @ ross if I were to purchase say 20 of the A-2 exosuits for a higher price could you take off the tampering guards? :ugeek: That's not going to happen, I can almost guarantee it. The Germans and I have made a deal regarding the remaining unclaimed parts of Africa, in order to avoid conflict between us, as a world war iv would benefit no one. In ten minutes real time, it will be 2044. In another year it will be the 100th anniversary of the end of World War II. Research on plasma is complete enough that it will be used in our or upcoming Space Battleship, though not as a weapon. This is what it could actually be used for, this isn't just making stuff up. If you've ever seen in star wars/star trek/whatever, in the hangars there is a wall of energy that ships can fly through, with space on one side, and the inside of the hangar on the other. Plasma can be used for that, it can preserve the atmosphere one one side of the barrier, so that way the hangar wouldn't have all the air sucked out of it whenever a ship needed to launch. Also, plasma will help to make our ships more aerodynamic. Also, the final stages of design for the assault rifle we've been designing for the past 10 years (I gave it a 13 year timeline for completion when I announced it a while ago) will be finishing up over the next two to three years. Ok, here's somethings I'm saying about space. First, if any ships, or space stations, or satelites enter the vicinity of any of my space stations or military satelites without permission, or good reason, they will be shot down. This is just so if war ever happens, someone can't just go "My anti-space station ships sneak attacked and destroyed all of your space stations and satellites before they could respond". This doesn't apply to any satellites which aren't in geo-synchronous orbits and naturally go near other satellites in their orbit. Secondly, I think we've discovered 2-3 colonizable planets. No more, atleast not within 50 lightyears of earth. I think 2-3 is pushing it, and any more would just be ridiculous. I think dusty might agree with me here, but I don't know. In similar news, our colony @ rigel kentarus is advancing well, the population has over quintupled in the 15-20 years since it started. This is mostly due to artificially inseminated surrogate mothers, along with natural reproduction. We are also starting research on charged particle beams, for possible military use. Sorry for the long post.
  13. Just saying, any ship that could hold 1000 people would be able to land, but not take off again. But if it's the hub of a colony, going back into space wouldn't be necessary.
  14. All Brazilian troops in Norway will also be on high alert, should any combat spill over into Norway if anything actually happens. Our colony ship is complete. Here's a writeup on it, and a sketch. Eneveta Colony Ship The Eneveta is fairly simple. The only two important parts on the exterior are the gravity rings, and the main thruster. The gravity simulation rings are for the living areas of the active crew of 100. Internally, the ship is broken into four main parts. The first is the reactor, and the internal parts of the thruster. Then there is the storage area. This is where all the supplies needed to survive, including compressed water, and oxygen. Then is the "living" quarters for the non active crew of roughly 27,000. These are held in extremely compact Cryogenic sleep compartments. Once the ship lands on the target planet, the crew will be awakened in sets of 1000, unless some emergency requires faster revival. This also includes an internal biosphere type area for growing food if needed. Finally is the construction/assembly area. This is the most complicated part of the internals, it stores parts for pre-fab buildings that will be assembled robotically in this area once it arrives at it's target location. The ship was built in our assembly stations over mars, and most of the resources were harvested from the asteroid belt. This made building it much cheaper, due to not having to worry about breaking mars/earth's gravity field to get into orbit.
  15. Alright, that almost makes sense so that's good enough for this thread. I still think if we're going to try to discover ftl travel, we should atleast wait a while, I mean... hyperspace is supposed to be like a 4th dimension, right? That would mean we'd not only be discovering other dimensions, we'd have to be able to get to them, and then that assumes it would be able to be used for ftl travel. I mean, ingame, it's still only 2042. It should atleast take a while.
  16. How is that even possible? Like what does it change that makes them able to live there?
  17. Not sure if you did, but don't include the antarctic claims in your total land for now. Our new colonizing ship is in it's final stages of completion, research into a space elevator (this one will be on mars due to the lower gravity and atmosphere) is also going great, and our space battleship is nearing completion as well.
  18. Just saying, a space station takes years to finish. And a ton of money. the international space station irl took a few hundred billion and a few decades. So for game time, a space station takes 5-10 years.
  19. Just saying, but you start out as you are in real life. So you're population is 200 million ish.
  20. boomerang type maneuver around a sun to gain momentum until extreme speed > Enders Game > So hot > Ansible for instant communication > Philotic waves > Love Reaching light speed would require infinite amounts of energy for anything with mass. No matter how many times you fly around the sun, you're not going to get up to the speed of light.
  21. Then why aren't you guys fighting with battleaxes and warhammers? If I remember right, according to norse myths, those were the true weapons for the brave.
  22. Tell you what, if you can think of a way light speed would actually work, then maybe it will actually happen.
  23. I still don't think discovering something in 12 years that would complete overturn hundreds of proven rules in physics makes any sense. Think of it this way, in the game now, it's 2040. In 12 years it's 2052. I think that having colonies on mars would be incredible for 2050, colonies outside of the system more so, (though that ironically came first). I think we should be happy with what we have for now.
  24. It's not physically possible. If we want to do something that makes colonizing easier, and still breaks the laws of physics but isn't too unbalancing, try faster than light communication. Because it would be 45 days till you heard that your ship had landed.
