As I've said in the past, I'll willingly give any of my countries up (though some I would prefer not to lose) other than Brazil if a newcomer wants them.
-
coupla things. Rocco, what sort of propulsion would be used to speed up that much? And why would there be oil on Mars?
-
Just saying, an aircraft carrier costs about 5-6 billion. A destroyer costs even more. Navy's are very expensive. Maintenance costs for planes are also very high. Grim, the war never ended for most people, I don't think.

Depending on the height they're dropped from, the hvr rods would go upwards of 7km/s. In other words, 25,000 mph or mach 33. So nothing can shoot them down. Space elevator is going well, as are my other projects. Norway's space elevator is also progressing at the same rate. My missile shield is much more advanced in the americas, than africa at this point. It has three stages. The first is interceptor missiles, which put out a small emp burst, catching it over the ocean. And before you say emp would cover my whole country. No. That's only for big, big emp blasts. Like an air burst nuclear bomb. The second level of defense is kinetic missiles, instead of an explosive they have a more powerful propulsion system. These tear the icbm's apart by hitting them at massive speeds. Finally, there is a directed particle beam. It basically tracks the missiles, then fires, and melts through the body of the missile, and usually blows them up in the air. My anti icbm space station system is 1 year away from being airborne.

That sounds good. I don't want to hold you back too long in the thread, but it would be be better if you started somewhere a bit more reasonable, and worked your way up now (like you're doing). Also, if you're looking for inspiration for something to do, look through pages 2-10 or so of the thread, that's where most people started doing what you have to do now. Here were my first two relevant posts in the thread. [hide=]Or if not, I'd pick Brazil. Tenth largest economy in the world, largest military in latin america, almost 200 million people, I'd say it has potential. Maybe I could work with Lent and his Argentinian controlled portion of South America. Mainly in the country, I'd try to end foreign exploitation, and instead allow the country to take advantage of it's own resources, which would help reduce poverty, as well as creating many new jobs, and improving old ones. The military would have to remain strong, I might even pull a north korea in having all citizens take basic training at some point, and all households would have a rifle or handgun. Less dangerous drugs like Marijuana, salvia, etc. would be legalized, but taxed. Heavier drugs like heroin, and cocaine would be regulated in that you could only get a certain amount every month, to help decrease OD's and addictions if possible. Of course people would still get them illegally, but it couldn't hurt to regulate them a bit. Heavier taxes would be imposed on the wealthy, but not cripplingly high, and lesser taxes on the poor in order to decrease poverty and help redistribute the wealth so it would not only be the elite who had money. I don't think I would try to annex any other countries, Brazil still has many national resources and a good amount of space. I would protect the rain forests if possible, or at least put aside a large amount of them that would be government land and illegal to log on or otherwise exploit. (Next post) Once then new government was put into place, the first thing we'd do would be to impose extremely heavy taxes on all foreign companies exporting our resources, to the point it becomes unprofitable and they are forced to leave the country. These taxes would give my government enough extra funds to start using our own resources for the good of our country, rather than for foreign countries' interests. The majority of the Amazon would become a preserve, and all the thousands of miles of cut-down forests, instead of just being an eyesore would become solar or wind farms, which would effectively make Brazil energy-independent. The government would fund massive urban re-organization and renewal projects, creating thousands or millions of jobs, providing better housing for the poor, and overall cleaning up the cities. Shantytowns would become a thing of the past. The overall quality of life would increase immensely for the majority of people. A long term plan would be to equip almost ever roof in the country with solar panels, which eventually would lead to a profit and an excess of power. We would sell our excess electricity to neighboring countries for a cheaper price than oil, leading to good relations with surrounding nations. We are investing a lot of our excess funds in on space travel, as well, under the project name of SAB All citizens would go through basic training, and at least 3 months of active service at some point in their life, unless they are already above 50 or a pre-existing condition prevents them. Military size would increase, but only for defense, seeing as with all the new governments around the world, someone is going to be violent. Develop a state-of-the-art missile defense system along our borders, and at various points around the country. We would not build any nuclear weapons of our own, so our missile system could not be mistaken for an offensive act. All citizens would also go through a emergency response class for a few weeks, detailing what to do in an environmental, nuclear, or military crisis. EDIT: After researching a bit, the first military priority would be repairing and maintenancing (Not actually a word I don't think) everything. Then getting newer and up-to-date weapons and vehicles. That's all I can think of right now.[/hide]

The international space station cost over 400 billion. My Desta space ship cost roughly 5 trillion over a 14 year time. 32 billion would fund a normal shuttle for a few hundred launches. And taking off from earth in any sized ship is impossible. None of my ships that land are designed. ( A nasa space shuttle takes I think 500 million each launch). The cost of developing a space shuttle was around 150 billion. And that's a space shuttle with (obviously) no weapons, that goes into orbit, or to the moon and back, that holds just a few people. A standard nuclear reactor costs atleast 15 billion. The ships I sell are mainly for transport, have no weapons, and cost 300 billion. The only reasonable way to build a space ship of any size is in space, which I think only a few countries have the capabilities to do. Start improving your own country more internally, get the gdp up there, produce a product other people will buy (We've made over 2 trillion selling ships) and then you can start something that big.
-
Sure, whatever.

According to the list of predicted future populations, Burma's population will be around 60 million by this point. No way you can double your population in just a couple years. And while a space ship may pay for itself eventually, it would be a while. Considering the average burmian made about 1000$ annualy in 2009, I don't think you can afford a 4 million man army. I would recommend starting slower. Work on internal projects, instead of military. Improve your road system, your energy/fuel tech, your education system. Make new policies. I don't think you have to worry about anyone attacking you, it's kind of against the unspoken rules to attack newer players. China, a country that had 1.2 billion people in real life only had an army of 3 million. And they have a much larger gdp than you. People, just because you have 60 million people doesn't mean you can reasonably have a 4 million person army. The USA spends more money than any other country in the world on military, and that army is only 3 million. Even if you paid each of those 4 million people only 10,000 a year that would still put you very deep in debt. That doesn't include supplying them, and training and equipping a soldier takes more than you pay them by far. If you tax your people 50% (Insanely high), you would be going 40 billion minimum into debt a year in upkeep for your army a year, and then with your tax dollars you have to pay for everything else. Government officials, roads, schools, police, agricultural benefits, emergency response, medical stuff, and so on. At the rate you're doing, you're gonna be going 2,3 hundred billion into debt a year. Remember, when you're calculating how much you can spend each year, it's not your gdp. It's however much your taxing. (there are some other parts but that's the main bit). If you tax too much, your people will starve and revolt. Tax to little, and you can't maintain your cities. I have a gdp of about 24 trillion at this point (iirc). I tax an average of 20%, so that leaves me with about 6 trillion. Of that 6 trillion about 5 goes to upkeep, then the rest goes to military. Also with added things like selling ships, we have a bit more, and that goes to research. Also remember that on the moon, people degrade. Their bones get very weak, and the amount of radiation that hits them will eventually lead to their deaths.
-
@ross That'd be about 3.1 billion for all of them (for almost 2 million guns, I think you meant the smg one would have both an smg and a pistol. It should be easy to mount on, and the clips were made to be expendable if needed. I'd say raptors are still usable, but I think newer stuff is better. And considering they're very expensive (since you mainly built them a while ago) it might be wise to invest in newer stuff. Though I think you already are. And yeah, it's 2046. Hence the ak-2047 being released next year.
-
Rocco, sometimes I laugh because I imagine your avatar/signature saying what you post.
-
I could only use the schematics that were use at the time. I wasn't really clear when I wrote this, but I meant that in some ways eurofighters were more advanced than raptors because they were made later. I imagine they were complete by the time we got the schematics. EDIT: Weird, didn't see all those posts above me. Sere, the closest thing to shielding you could get is a battery charged shield that would only work for a minute or so, and would be weaker than the shields on the ships. I don't think flight would really make too much sense, but you never know. And mage, I meant real life, yeah.
-
Plasma shielding would require atleast a nuclear reactor to power it, in all likelihood. And flight would be pretty much impossible. Plasma is based off of superheating gases. Now for plasma shielding, it takes much more heat. My ship's reactors, which are the best in the world, have difficulty powering the shields on my ship. EDIT: The weapons should be ready next year, and the ship should be ready in about 4 days.

Read the book "The omnivore's dilemma". It's not too exciting, but it has a lot on how much crap goes into everything.
-
I guess that's ok. I spent 13 years on my guns, but that was just to make them all the best possible.
-
You'd think the sun would eclipse the center of the galaxy every year, atleast once, since we're circling the sun, eventually it's gonna be in between us and the center each year.
-
It depends what you have on them currently. If you have a heavy machine gun on there, that might be better, though the AK might be more accurate. I guess I could start marketing them where they would be attachable to various mech types, with extended clips. I also have a lmg and a hmg in the works, but it's not done yet. I have single strike bombers that can go at hypersonic speeds. So I probably have the fastest planes in the world. I'm working on developing an entire new set of ships, and planes. It'll be a while though. So that would be 145,000 ish with shotguns, then the rest with the smg and pistol?
-
Heh, "Son, we got you a present. The only hill in 200 miles. Maybe you'll finally get laid now..."
-
That's end up at around 200 million. Ross, how many drones will you send? And do you want all the weapons on each of them, or some of the drones would have a shotgun, some an smg, etc.?
-
Just for the sake of it, over the next decade, I'll be putting money into Norway's sovereign wealth fund, so if they decide to be active at some point, they'll be very wealthy. Eurofighters aren't fully developed yet, iirc, and raptors have been around since the 90s. As for prices, I'll say the basic price for the ak-2047 is 2100 per unit, the sniper is 12,000 per unit, the submachine gun is 2000, the shotgun is 1700 per unit, and the pistol is 1400. And I copyright them. They require a very specialized factor to produce, due to the alloys used to make them, and it would take many years to build that factory, and many more to figure out exactly how it works. They're advanced guns. And I might embargo any country who tries to copy them. There's also basic tamper guards. And I guess I could do that, ross. I could even specialized the submachine gun for a bigger clip, since it'd be on a mech. Hedgehog, for the last time, how did 250,00 troops get into Berlin? And why would any countries consider joining the revolution, especially diplomatically gained countries.
-
Latino, do you remember where you got the schematics for the raptor? Apparently they were lying around in saudi arabia. So if the saudis had one, I'm sure at some point a few other countries did as well. Here's a long post. Be warned. The Brazilian Empire is proud to present it's latest achievement in personally weaponry. We are introducing a full line of infantry weapons. The most important weapon of the group is the new AK-2047 (Pronounced ak-twenty-forty seven, not ak two thousand forty seven). It is a newly designed variant of the classic weapon, designed with the help of Viktor Kalashnikov (the original creator's son). It keeps the best features of the ak-47, it's reliability, sturdiness, and ease of production, while also increasing the accuracy and effective range with a newly designed barrel. The barrel can also fire specially designed bullets, currently only used by Brazilian special forces. It uses built in recoil suppressors, in order to maintain accuracy with sustained fire. It will also basically never jam. The second gun is the Ba1 sniper rifle. In appearance, it is similar to the older L96, but it's main feature is a built in targetting computer, that will determine the wind speed, air temperature, humidity, and recommend where the sniper should shoot so all guesswork is taken out. It can of course be turned off, if the sniper wants. For reference, something like this exists in real life, and it fired 16 shots a target 3000 meters away, and they all hit within a foot of eachother on the target. This improves upon it slightly. It is semi-automatic, and holds 15 bullets per clip. Alexi Dragunov also helped with this design. Next is a submachine gun is an improve PP-19, called the BESM-1. It has a similar helical magazine, which holds up to 64 rounds, though smaller clips are also available. It is more accurate than the original version, and has an adjustable rate of fire, so it could fire all the bullets at an extremely fast rate, or slower for conserving ammo and improved accuracy. Next is a shotgun, the BSC-1, it's a fairly simple design, just a different way of loading ammunition for a higher capacity. It is semi automatic, or full automatic. The last publicly announced weapon is a pistol. The BP-1 fires specialized bullets, or normal bullets, with a 18 bullet clip size. It isn't anything amazing, but it's still a solid pistol. These are all modular, so a scope could be attached to any of them (Though a scoped pistol isn't too effective), a grenade launcher, laser sights, silencer/suppressor etc. I started these on the last post of page 95, if anyone cares. They will be released to the public next year. If anyone wants to buy any, they are some of the best guns in the game.

Latino, as advanced as raptors are, eurofighters are more advanced, they're many years newer. But in terms of when they were built, a raptor is a old as something from a few years after WWII would be to us in real life. It may have been the king in it's time, but not anymore.
-
Missiles are faster than planes. Well, with the exception of some hypersonic planes, but in general. That includes f-22's. And interceptor planes are planes designed specifically for destroying other planes, whereas the raptor is mostly used for supporting ground troops.
-
What system...?
-
How do we know for sure they can stop my Eurofighters and Raptors? Because eurofighters are mostly anti-ground, with anti air capablities, and raptors are a bit of both, fighter interceptors are anti plane.

Ok, for a start, the river can't hold military boats, it's not deep or wide enough for transports. Second, there are no stealth transport planes. Even if there were, they would hold about 5 people each, and there is no way they would have any tanks in them. Also, in war, the defender almost always has the advantage. Berlin in the game is one of the heaviest guarded cities in the world. Parachuting into a city is also impossible, 95% of the people would die when their chutes got caught up on the buildings. So you have no tanks in the city, and no people, or if you tried to send in 5 million people by air (Not even all the planes in the world combined could do that, much less stealth planes) atleast 95% would have been shot down, then 95% of the paratroops would have died in the air. The .15% of what your 5 million troops lands safely (33,000 approximately would have landed extremely separated, and would have been killed. If you attacked by land with 8 million troops, only a few thousand would have been able to attack at a time, and they would have been torn apart by artillery, and the border guards. So unless you can think of something reasonable, I'd say you lost. And dusty did make posts about highly advanced interceptor planes a while back.
