dieing.... its underestimated

Death of a person is non-existant. Only your body (or your cloths) die.

Your spirit lives on in either Heaven or Hell. (They call hell the second death though).

So if I was to fear death, it would be not the earthly death that occurs as its not painful as some believe it to be, but the second death.

Now I already know what some athiests will say, that I "think" I know where I am going. But they do not even know where they are going, so let alone, how could they ever tell someone else where they will end up.

Its like the saying "A blind man leading a blind man". Both fall in the ditch.

I'm curious why you would feel the need to bring religion into it. Yes, you do 'think' you know where you're going because you can never know what god is thinking. By being 100% certain that you will go to heavan, you're basically comparing yourself to jesus christ. You saying you know something which totally requires faith is like me saying I know I am Napolean. Like Bill Hicks said, 'beliefs are neat, some people believe they are Napolean, but don't go around pretending like it's the truth.'

There's something so universal and true about Bill Hicks' comedy that I've been quoting him a bit lately. :P He was the greatest, afterall. :P

Theres a reason why the word belief is not called evidence. However, I have stepped over to "believing" I will go to heaven to "knowing" I will go reguardless of faithless and negative comments.

~Defender~

You don't exactly know that you are going to heaven, all fall short from the glory of God but by his grace and goodness we are saved through Jesus Christ the son of the most high.

A friend to all is a friend to none.

no one should fear death, it is a part of life. if you live you die and no way around it. also when someone dies why do people mourn? i've never understood...

When the ludicrous idea of Hell is rampant throughout all part of the world, it's not that surprising that people generally fear death.

maybe, but if you fear hell, and therefore death, maybe you should not commit sins (not saying that you or anyone else does but...if you fear heel then try your best to get to heaven?)

but I'd be a wreck if a friend or family member died  .

I'm the same way... I don't so much cry, but I do get depressed... Not to the point of being suicidal or anything, but depressed.

I would jump in front of a bullet if it saved the lifeof a loved one... And in many cases, classmates.

Ya, that's pretty much an exact description of me/what I'd do :-k .

+1, exactly the same way I am.

Does anyone else find Defender infuriatingly annoying?

My only first-hand experience with death was my grandmother's, she died in her room. It was pretty sudden. Sad part was she died alone, she was asleep, and all of us were busy doing our own thing. Good thing was that she died pretty peacefully, she just slipped away in her sleep, after years of suffering.

I know how you feel. One of my dad's friends passed away recently at the age of 35. He was like a second father to me, and his kids were like second siblings. He died of cancer they never knew was there. So yeah, i know how you feel :(

I watched my great-grandfather die of old age in his hospital bed.

I was 12 at the time.

You watched him die? You didn't help him in any way? You just stood at the foot of his bed and watched him decay? That's cruel. :notalk:

People who are flaming this guys: I think this guy tried to make a joke, an awful taste-less joke, but a joke nonetheless. So, let's just hope he leaves?

i guess im the only person who doesn't know why people mourn

people mourn because when a person dies that you are very close to it makes them sad.Thats regular human nature.I think you would mourn too if you had a death in your family. But if u dont well, thats not up to me its up to u.

And to everyone here thats comparing deaths to deaths saying some are more significant than others well its not exactly a contest. You cant say that not knowing how people reacted to a death. Everyone reacts to death in their own way, simply because everyone has a different perspective on life. Thankfully i havent had to experience too many deaths in my life, at least less than many people have. A few months ago my grandmas brother died. I was particullary sad because i only met the guy once, cuz he lives in another country. He seemed like a really nice guy.

Well heres my perspective on this.

I don't mourn. I don't know why, I have to really try really hard to cry when somebody dies. It's not like I'm inhuman with no emotions, but... I cannot see the point of an elaborate funeral where people wear black and cry, and pay thousands of bucks for it.

Maybe I'm just naive.

I am the same way... I have had far too many funerals in the last few years and have yet to actually cry at one.

Yeah, my father's friend died a coulple months ago in a car accident. It wasn't even his fault. It was some inexperienced teen driver that hit him and it completely crushed his car and he died. I felt very bad for the guy because he was such a nice man and a positive influence on the community. Let's just say a lof of people had the heart to attend his funeral as a kind of "Thank you for what you've done for us." thing.

I know how you feel.

You do realise what you wrote in your sig is completely and utterly false, don't you? It's quite annoying when people do that.

Meh, we should probably just ignore him. He's probably just like Defender, posting the most random and ludicrous stuff to stand out and shake things on this forum up. I mean, have you seen him in religion threads  ?
