Clown
When you first have windows, the toolbar will be shown down at the bottom of your screen. As you probably have descovered, it does get cramped. Wish you could actually SEE what applications you have open? Then try this tip. If the taskbar is locked, you can unlock it by right clicking on the bar and unchecking the "Lock the Taskbar" command. Then grab hold of the bar, and move it to the right side of the screen. Then use the arrow to move the bar out slightly, so you can see the names of things you have. If you did it right, your bar should look something like this: Now you can effectively use your computer! :D ~
Cruiser
Or, you could just edit one image or word doc at a time, minimize iTunes to tray and organize your files so you don't have to use search. :P I guess I'm too use to my setup. :?
runesmithie
You can also minimize *anything* to the tray using Freemod. Just open it up, select send to tray and then hit Mod it! It's a pretty fast and small tool and it also does transparency :D I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.
____
I prefer seeing more of the active document than the taskbar. Anyways - hover over an item in the task bar and you get the tooltip with the full name pop up.
Mercifull
Alt+Tab i also really useful too. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. JoeDaStudd
Alt+Tab i also really useful too.Yep ALT + Tab is a lot easier to do and doesn't require changing the task bar. Or simply use Windows Key + D (minimizes all the windows), then alt+tab to which window you need. Mercifull
XP also has a built in feature to "group" similar items. So if youve got lots of Word windows open they only show up as one place in the task bar and clicking it shows a list of the files open in more detail. Cruiser
TweakUI from the XP powertoys page adds to that grouping, letting you set the limits for when it goes into effect. It has options for changing various other things not related to the task bar too.
Clown
I prefer to have the toolbar at that location. Because then I can see what I have open, all the time, without pressing anything. I just click on it and I'm there. ~
Celt23
I'm too used to it being on the bottom... but I'll try that anyway.
MPM
Runesmithie, I like that program. Not quite one of the ones where you can just open it and switch back and forth changing stuff, but very handy. ~M
