obby vs rune shields: is the cost worth it?

Featured Replies

I've been looking at the debate between a rune kite and and obby shield

Rune's stats are

stab slash crush magic range

+ 44 + 48 + 46 - 1 + 46

Obby shield

stab slash crush magic range

+ 40 + 42 + 38 + 0 + 65

Is the extra range protection worth the additional price?

+5 strength bonus.... I like it.

The strenght bonus is always good :)

Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

Rune defender is better than both: Less defence, but the extra +20 attack bonus, +5 strength bonus is totally worth it. But given the choice between the two, yes, obsidian is worth it.

i would go with obby shield if no rune defender.

Barrows drops: ahrims staff (2), karils coif, karils xbow, torags plate body, veracs helm.

I say yes if you don't have a Rune defender.

If you have a rune defender, well: I say no.

obby sheilds way better, i personally use it mainly cause of the str bonus. rune sheilds are used by lower lvls, or f2p.

You seem worried about the price.

I say, get a rune defender in the warriors guild, it's free.

All you need is any set of armour, and depending on your level, a couple of hours.

2480+ total

get a rune defender =] free but time consuming. totally better than them both

if ur gonna melee of course obby

if you just need def of course rune

Rune defender > obby or rune shield

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

Rune defender > obby or rune shield

Depends on the situation.

If you're fighting a monster that hits often, use the obby shield for the extra defence.

If you're just wanting to hit hard and often, go with the defender.

Rune kite has no real use.

boratto.jpg

stick to the topic, its obby vs rune, no defenders were in this.

OT: id vote obby, caz of its str bonus, range def bonus and i like obby =]

I'm using rune kite and it's been pretty loyal to me. I'd personally use rune kite but if you have the money, go for the obsidian shield. Plus, range bonus isn't that useful against monsters rather than players. (could save your life rangers are annoying)
