I've noticed quite an influx in the number of contests posted in The Gallery and wanted to know if you all would be comfortable with a new subforum.

If we have a contest subforum, the monthly/weekly contests could easily be posted as new threads on a regular basis with a single sticky listing the weekly themes and winners.

EDIT: This forum would also include signature battles.

What do you all think?

No.

It would make the forum boring by removing very relevant content inconveniently to a subforum. The variaty in The Gallery, in my opinion, is one of the main things that makes it a nice forum, and this would just remove alot of variaty.

no, of course not. The subforum would be useless. There are now something about 4 contests and I don't think that there would be more. And also, if you change it to a subforum, I think that all of the contests would lose their entries. Example, SotW is popular, cause it's a sticky on top of the forum.

That's my opinnion.

The subforum would have upto 10 topics, there is not much to make a contest of.

On the other hand, It would clean The Gallery and leave the Sticky part for other things then contests.

Ill just wait and see what the rest wants. :)

I think it should be mentioned that this new board would also allow for people to post sig battles, so it won't just be the SOTW's (hence, a lot of topics perhaps worth the new forum).

Pixel sigs by me.

Yes and No.

Yes: It would clean up the gallery, and make it very easy to find contests..

No: Because there aren't that many contests to be had..

BUT if you could come up with some ideas, and make more contests then the subforum wouldn't be pointless and it may have quite a few hits.

Maybe a battle forum, no contest forum

Well sig battles are kind of contests, aren't they? :-k If we have a subforum for sig battles, I see no reason why we shouldn't include the weekly/monthly contests that we currently have.

Because, the attention which has come to the SotW IMO is because it's a sticky in top of the gallery forum. If it would be moved, I don't think the random bypassers would enter the competition. Example this weeks competition had few contestants who haven't ever before posted in Gallery. So that's what i think.

Whats a sig battle when it is at home? :-k

I am picturing a steel cage where all the signatures fight to the death.

I voted yes because it would clean up The Gallery and probably encourage more contests and possibly more people might get involved.

I had earlier voted 'no' but if it included sig battles it could be nice to have. Might even get me practicing a bit more...

Thanks for all of your votes and comments. Since the majority voted yes, we are moving forward with the subforum.

We can keep a referral sticky up in the gallery for this until the new location catches on. I think it will be easier to manage if you can simply create new threads every week instead of having one long thread that has to be split by a staff member. The responses to this survey indicate that Gallery regulars will make use of the subforum.

Now that set up is in progress, I'm locking this thread.

Thanks again everyone!
