These are very very nice. but the shading needs more contrast. Furthermore these are exelent. Keep up the good work Dark Shadow

the linework looks pretty great, but still some points... For the shading: use more contrast like dharick already said. Also dont use to big spots of white like u did with the back of the horse, because it makes it look pretty rare :?

but good to hear u have internet all the time now again :P ( yeah i know u have it already an pretty long time, but i have been awey also for a while :P )

Those are completely fantastic pixels.

By far the most realistic animal pixels I've ever come across on any forums.

You have a lot of talent, truly amazing.

I like the cat pixels most, though that is just because I love my kitties.

The horse looks wonderful, I don't think the white spot/white background

really takes away from it, as you can still see clearly what it is.

Really, awe inspiring pixels. Incredible job. <3:

Nice to see you back, Shadow! :D And still in excellent - if better - form. :) Excellent animal anatomy, as usual; you were always very good at that. ^^

For the horse piece:

There doesn't seem to be a definite lightsource with the horse. Shading and some contrast with that piece would probably make it a little more dramatic, as there isn't any shadow over the hurdle thing (I forgot the term for it ><) that shows that the horse is jumping over it.

The lack of light source in the pixel really kills it for me, as the poles look a little out of place. ;_; A background would've been awesome too, but that probably would've taken too long, or would've just entailed a lot of grass. :P

It seems to be missing its fore-right-hoof too, otherwise that's just the perspective acting up on me. I feel as if you'd see the lower part of the fore-right-leg even a little, though - it wouldn't be completely behind the fore-left-leg, would it?

Similar to the posters above, the white patch on the rear of the horse just doesn't sit well with me - it doesn't fit, as said, with the plain white background. The white socks (it's the term for cats, don't know if it applies to horses, haha) just above the hooves are fine, though.

I don't know what you were going for, though, but the anatomy of the horse is definitely the highlight of the pixel. Good piece. :)

Merlin piece:

Excellent, excellent texturing. Almost seems like real fur - I really don't know how you do it. :o Anatomy is also, yet again, superb.

There's something a little odd about the border between the head of the cat and it's left foreleg, though. Can't put my finger on it.

Again, would've loved a background. This is easily the best pixel out of the three. :D

Misty piece:

One thing that stands out from this piece is the lack of shading, really. It stays the same uniform colour throught the entire cat, so it's a little difficult to tell the limbs from the main body. There isn't any shadowing, making the piece look largely flat and not as impressive as Merlin before - probably because Merlin's has a darker coat and kinda blends into the black background and Misty kinda sticks out.

The eyes need a little work too, but they're quite possibly the most difficult part of any image to get right. Good effort. :)

Your cats are very cute, mind putting a few photographs up so we know what they actually look like? :)

Great job. You've improved in your strong points, for sure. Animal anatomy, animal texturing, animal pixels in general? Call Dark_Shadow today. :D Excellent work, great to see you back!

EDIT: Geesh, I rambled, didn't I? ><

yeah, i had a lot of trouble with the perspective of that horse. just couldnt get it right, no matter what i did with it. this was the first pixel i'd done in a long while, and i did it in about 4 hours to entertain myself cause i had nothing to do (uni work hadnt yet started) so it was a quick one just for the sake of pixelling i think lol. i appreciate your comments and tips for it :P

the picture of merlin is by far my favourite as well. in my opinion its the best pixel ive ever done, and i love it. unfortunately the colour is a bit different to merlins real colour, but ill post a few pictures of each cat in a bit so you can see what they actually look like.

with the picture of misty, it was the first detailed cat i'd ever pixeled. once again, not sure why, but i had trouble getting contrast. i dunno why, but every time i made it slightly more contrasted, it seemed TOO contrasted. but im not sure. lol. must learn to work on that, and the eyes as well.

thanks for all the comments/tips guys :P

By the way, Faelenof, i appreciate your 'rambling', it was very helpful
