Gerthddyn
I was recently hanging out in a multi-combat area, training magic. There were a few other people there, seeing as it's a busy time of the day and not a lot of worlds are below 900+. Now, as I was quietly attacking away, some guy asks me to stop fighting "his monster". I replied something along the lines of RuneScape being a multi-player game and that he'd have to deal with sharing. He keeps whining and I get tired of it so I attack another monster in the vicinity. Random player: "I attacked this first! It's mine!" Me: "It's a multi-combat area! Deal with it!" Suddenly I find myself verbally abused to a degree that I just feel sick and log. Now I ask you, dear tip-iters: Was I doing the wrong thing? Is "do not attack other monsters in a multi-combat area" some unwritten rule of behaviour that I've missed? Note: This is not a rant, even though I am a little upset. I just want to know whether they were completely off the rail or if I should have abstained from attacking "busy" monsters. Zaaps1
Nothing's wrong, there just angry because they can't get any of the drops. When something like that happens (happens a lot in mining too, "it's my rock") just say that no one can own the rock, its all property of jagex. They'll say something like "no it's mine, I own this place". Then you say, "do you mean that you are a jagex staff?" If they say yes you can report them, I don't because you kinda tricked them, you you can scare them, it's fun. If all else fails just tell them to switcch worlds. If they say "no you switch you nub". Just go, "fine i won't I'll keep attacking "your" monsters then". They'll log eventually. ~It's Super Effective! Randox
Shouldnt be a problem though I would consider it very rude of my self if I went to al kirad and started attacking the palace gaurds, because I'm 77 combat and I could obviously train someplace else without inconvieniaencing(interesting spelling eh?) a whole load of other people. I don't normally train in multi combat so that I avoid all the other people atting what im attacking thus slowing my leveling.
Madouge
For me it depends, if he did attack it first and there were other monsters available to you, I think I would be annoyed too. Click the pic if you wanna see a Ranged Slayer blog.
D. V. Devnull
Put simply, if there's another monster in the area, find a barrier and kill that one. Otherwise, just simply ignore the other person's speaking. They don't "own" the monster. ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... blackrazor
There is no simple answer to this, as people can (and will) find ever more interesting reasons to go off on one another. Some people believe that it's rude to attack a monster that is already under attack. (It's even a rule in some Asian MMOs, like Ragnarok Online, not to attack another player's monsters nor to pick up their drops.) Personally, I believe that multi areas are FFA (free for all), and everyone should be free to whack at whatever unfortunate critters spawn there. Beliefs held by others are a hard (impossible?) thing to change. If you train in multi areas, this particular misunderstanding will continue to happen from time to time. My advice is to either grow a thick skin to it, or just train in non-multi areas. Although, even in non-multi, you can be called a "hog" "spawn-camper" "spawn-stealer" "autoclick-hacker", etc. if you wind up getting more than your "fair" (what other over-judgemental players consider fair) share of the kills. In short, people are people. And with the anonymity of the internet, they just tend to act even "people-ier".

D. V. Devnull
And with the anonymity of the internet, they just tend to act even "people-ier". More like they act more childish, even though they should realize that they're doing it at other humans, like (or somewhat unlike) them, who are trying to blow off steam. It makes me wish people would think more often while they're on the net. ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... Gold_Tiger10
*Pokes Gerthddyn* Don't feel bad, there are about 1.6million people who play RuneScape. And about 247million of those people are whiney, crankey, dumb, little annoying children who were abused very badly by their parents/the man in the van. The best thing to do is to put them on your ignore list or just read what they say and laugh in real knowing that your a far better person than them. :D here! R_2_H
You're not wrong. Noobs will say those things because they want everything for themselves. SwreeTak
They are wrong, not you. If you want to kill monsters in a multi combat area, and other persons are attacking monsters at the same place, you might don't have any other choice than attacking a monster which someone else is also attacking at the same time. And that's why they're wrong and you're right: You can't miss alot of xp because of someone else wants "their" monsters/monster for him-/herself. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
willyhenriksen
By fighting in a multi-attack area you're accepting that 'your' monsters can be stolen. It wasn't your fault at all :) R.I.P. Shiva and Steve
fatdog16
while theres nothing wrong with that, its usally common courtsey if there is an unoccupied monster/rock/tree, ect, to use that one. however if there isnt, then attacj away. OF course that mother is badly crazy, but I dont understand why the 22 year old girl wants to live with and have sex with the 13 year boy, just because he is lvl 126 or something?
