April 18, 200719 yr Yep, just got my tablet today... It makes me happy. Top left image was my reference (thank you Wiki). I absolutely adore it... *hugs tablet* EDIT: Another quicky painting... Pixel Artist - Former Player Mod - Former Tip.It ModNot taking sig requests - sorry!
April 18, 200719 yr not bad, looks kind of watery/see through, obviously a quick sketch? looks good, also have you read wikipedia's entry for muffins? it's sad that someone actually wrote the whole history of a cake down..... Sig by me....
April 18, 200719 yr Author Heh, yeah, just a quick sketch. I was fiddling with the pen pressure options in Photoshop when I did this. :P I'm still a relative Photoshop noob, so these fancy little options are quite new to me. :P And yeah, a little sad... although amusing at the same time. ^^ Pixel Artist - Former Player Mod - Former Tip.It ModNot taking sig requests - sorry!
April 18, 200719 yr You know, I whole heartedly believe that you actually hugged the tablet ;P Nice stuff, but work on you lightsource, and detail/texture. At the moment I can't really see the full form of the muffin, and it's impossible to tell which parts are paper, and which are muffin. Very nice though ;D

Very nice though ;D ha although you're being serious the comment, i still can't really see the full form of the muffin, is somewhat amusing, it's like we're talking about the Mona Lisa or something but really it's....a muffin Sig by me....
April 18, 200719 yr I'm reffering to the fact, that the muffin's form, as in it's shape cannot be completely interpreted. This needs to be aided by correcting lightsource issues, and spending more time shading to help produce depth. Yo. ;P
April 18, 200719 yr i like that it looks irregular  nice one Click my main sig to see my fakes :D Proud to be Mexican, yay!
April 18, 200719 yr i love it. may i eat it? The spelling and grammar of that email was that of an 11 year old palestinian goatboy who is speaking english for the first timeQuite simply, Facebook craps on Myspace. Then makes it eat the crap.
April 18, 200719 yr lol! very nice. looks like its in a poly bag due to the watery looking edges. My photobucket
April 18, 200719 yr Author You know, I whole heartedly believe that you actually hugged the tablet ;P Jeez, do I sound that serious over the internet? (not saying I didn't hug the tablet or anything...) :P Thanks guys, it indeed was a real quick trial of the pen, so expect a few more things in the future with more than just a muffin (although there's absolutely nothing wrong with muffins). No, you may not eat the mo0fin. It will eat you. PHEAR THE MOOFIN By the way, I'm having trouble with my tablet - I'm using PS 7, which supports the whole pen pressure and eraser thing... but it's not working. It worked last night when I did the muffin pic (and the ebil muffin edit), but now it's just reverted back to mouse-like abilities. The quick buttons on the side of the pen work as I've programmed them, but the eraser and the pen pressure features aren't doing anything. :| I've set the brush that I'm using to have those options, but it's still not happening... any suggestions? April 19, 200719 yr Author This one took a little longer, but that's understandable as it's a bigger canvas. Still a relatively quick sketch to try out a few colours and stuff. Image was based on this photo. Still exploring the tablet and Photoshop in general. :) Any suggestions to practise digipainting are appreciated. April 19, 200719 yr i love muffins, looks good, quick but then im not really gonna give CC on it since it was a quick get-used-to-it image the plane one looks cool, just a shame about the plane however... heh :anxious: PJB21 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2
April 19, 200719 yr Muffins are the essence of all life, so naturally, I have to love them. There seems to be quite alot of white patches in the middle of the muffin.... makes it look more like a "holy" muffins O:) ......(you see what I did there?... ). However, the plane one looks quite alright. Couldn't do better myself (photoshop noob... :( ) Anyway, nice. Writing in colour was fun while it lasted...The Tip.It. Furry! :D

April 19, 200719 yr well I really think your muffin is seriously flawed if im being honest, it looks as if you've roughly sketched out the essence of the muffin ready to be worked on with finer detail and just stopped, adding a horrible black shadow. Firstly I'd get rid of the shadow, it just doesn't work because shadows are not just pitch black, plus whilst illustrating cakes you want to make it look appealing to the eye.. what Ive learnt is to use a subtle shade of blue because on first impression it seems more fresh, stay away from any blacks or browns. Secondly from this you should concentrate on the general shape in comparisant to the reference, you've excessively over blured over what could be a clean shaped muffin. I've made a quick edit to help (though I've never really done much brushing work, I dont have many brushes and im using my trusty mouse). Just from using some common sense you should know to just use as much observation as possible to get the shadowing correct, this is just to add to right level of depth. Its a good idea to use whatever brushes you have to simply zoom in and add in the right texture, not the best effort from my edit but it proves the point. With the paper wrap really try to get it looking much cleaner than it currently is, ya really cnt make heads or tails of whats going on without looking back at the original picture. I did something similar just over a year back, when I was practicing with watercolours. maybe it'd help. (I used brown shadows, when I should have used something much more nuetral.) http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/357 ... n%3Ascraps good work though, getting used to a tablet is hard and your definately on the right tracks.. just work from rough, and work tighter and tighter, zoom in more, add in the important detailing.
April 19, 200719 yr Author Cheers for the comments, everyone. :) Weeboab, five bucks sound good for the evil muffin? And thanks for that, Ter. :) I know what you're talking about, and thanks for the tip on the shadows. I'll try my hand at a bit of texturing too. Appreciate the crits. :) Thanks again, all, be on the lookout for my future ones. ^^ Pixel Artist - Former Player Mod - Former Tip.It ModNot taking sig requests - sorry!
