April 27, 200719 yr So far on my way to 99 farm I've counted how many herbs I've gotten from the last 1049 seeds. Somewhere around 95% of these have been Dwarf weed, lantadyme and snapdragon seeds. I've counted dead seeds too there to get that ratio. Research has been done with super compost, magic secateurs and by saving all diseased herbs which have been possible. What makes this different to other ratios? Well, this is definately the largest research I've seen, I've been working on to find out how much luck affects to this, how the "my arm patch" affects to this and what this means for gp, cash and seed prices. Here's some statistic at first: This shows the average herbs per seed after 100 seeds, after 200 and so on. This shows how much the "my arm patch" help: on 1-100, 1-200, 1-300 and 1-400 the average stays at 6,9 and after that it rises to just a bit under 7. This is pretty accurate test as there's many hundred seeds done with and without it and the numbers are somewhat balanced. So far I've managed to kill 78 seeds whichs means 7,4% of your seeds will die. However I've managed to save some with plant cure, so if you don't look your patches every 75mins or won't bother saving them, it would be somewhere around 8-9%. At this point some of you might argue that you just found 3 dead herbs from 5 patches. This can be explained by the luck factor: I counted the average amount of herbs per 10 seeds here. This chart shows how many I got an average for the seed numbers 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 and so on all the way up to 600 seeds. As you can see, the line isn't as straight as it would be if I made the "herb per 100 seed average pic) into a chart too. This proves the luck factor: sometimes you get an average just over 5 from 10 seeds, sometimes over 9. In the other words: if you got only 100 herbs from 20 seeds, it doesn't mean you would have something wrong, you've just been unlucky or played with the odds, depending how do you wanna put it. For the last 1/3 of that picture the luck factor seems to fade away a bit for same reason as the average rose at the 1-100 ratios: my arm patch. Because the chances to kill a herb got lower, the average rose. When counting the average just for 10 seeds, the average might change a lot because of "lucky shots" or dead herbs. What does this mean for herb seed prices? Well, with the current prices they are a great source of money: 1 snapdragon seed = 30k 6,9 herbs per seed + 1 snapdragon herb being 8k = 6.9*8k = 55200 This means the current herb seed prices are really low and could be a lot higher. However the time used on growing them makes them a rather slow cash when compared to cutting woods, mining ores, slaying dragons or making runes. This post in a nutshell: * Average herbs per seed: ~6,98 * Average dead herbs: ~8-9 per 100 * Luck factor affects a lot to the average in a short run If anyone needs/wants to use this at their farming guide, go ahead as long as you give me the credit for it. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
April 27, 200719 yr Average dead herbs: ~8-9 per 100It's that low? Impossible. I swear throughout my course of planting 100+ marrentills i at least seen about 10 dead every 40-50 seeds planted. Maybe higher lvl herbs have lower chances of dying? Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

Nope, from my experience the level doesn't matter. Are you sure you used super compost ;) Anyways if you feel there's an error, I can post an excel chart with 1049 numbers in a row and the word "dead" after every 0 :P edit: and remember the luck factor which I was talking about and showed even some statistic. Yea I've also had periods with 3 herbs duying out of of 5. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm

April 27, 200719 yr My somewhat average (of around 100-200 seeds) gave me the same number 6-7 per seed. But no doubt you put a lot of effort into that, just dont tell people to rise the prices :P hehe Thanks for the work well done *** [ END ]: You gained 1,671,000 thieving exp in 9mins 44secs. April 27, 200719 yr wow so confusing lol, but i guess higher farming has an effect to the chances of it dieing 180th to 99 Divination + 1st W36er Rambo, cannot pk call your friends bro :). Wait nevermind none of SAPK/PKS can. Kappa.
April 27, 200719 yr Nice job Hohto, thumbs up for someone who spend the time to gather all these data. I confess that, as a serious farmer myself, I was too lazy to record my farming results. So, based on my memory&experience in farming many/many herbseeds, I agree on the average herb yield. Approximately 7 will be my average too nowadays. (this was higher until 2 months before the 'My arm' quest was introduced!!) Three remarks: - It is not completely clear for me if your yield of 6,98 is including the death herbs?? - My death/disease rate is definitely higher than your estimated 8-9% (note that I never check herbs to prevent disease). It will be closer to 15% minimum. - I hope you dont have seed merchanting ambitions? Your conclusions seed to suggest that prices can go up? Farming is already ridicilous expensive nowadays. No need for further price increases (at least for me :-w )
April 27, 200719 yr great job but this could be a guide too  Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob. People in OT eat glass when they are bored.

No need for further price increases I was thinking to post all the data after 99 farm when higher seed prices wouldn't bother me, but ended up doing this. Note that I also need seeds myself :P baalboy5: I've already made a farming guide but it would have gone too heavy if I added all to it and no1 reads it anyways. April 27, 200719 yr Have you kept track of how many seeds you have saved? Also do you use a Nature Amulet? If so, what patch do you have it tied to? Dragon Drops - 10 Meds, 9 Legs, 5 Skirts, 2 Left HalfPM me to have any potions made or crafting done
April 27, 200719 yr Author Have you kept track of how many seeds you have saved? Also do you use a Nature Amulet? If so, what patch do you have it tied to? Haven't unfortunately counted the saved ones, but I assume it's like 20-25. And I've never used a nature amulet. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
April 27, 200719 yr Author whats a dead herb? A planted herb seed which died. now reasearch the simularities between napolion and hitler * Both went for the big country in the east and lost. * Both underestimated the power of winter. * Both underestimated the power of their opponent. * Both were born on a day which can be divided with 5, hitler on 20th and Napoleon on 15th. April 27, 200719 yr I have been counting herbs too. I used magic secateurs and super compost, which gave me a minimum of 5 herbs per seed. My record is 15. All herb seeds seem to give the same amount if you count them long enough. I counted 587 seeds, which gave an average of 7,40 herbs per seed. But I didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t count the dead ones. Add 50 dead ones and you get your starting average of 6,82, when the my arm patch didn't exist yet. That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 7,85% dead. Add 35 dead ones and you get your final average of 6,99. That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 5,63% dead. I started counting before the magic secateurs were introduced, so I also have an average without the magic secateurs: 6,9. But I only counted 51 seeds for that, so that number is not very reliable. For those who are interested: I also counted vegetable seeds. My average was 17,2 per field (3 seeds). Without the secateurs it was 13,7.
April 28, 200719 yr And I've never used a nature amulet. , how do you do your calquat farming then, the ammy is supposingly used for that very purpose. Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.
April 28, 200719 yr well done...although 1000 seeds i would think would be more then enough to consider that the trend has been found by say around a hundred or so  Either way nice work =D> And I've never used a nature amulet. , how do you do your calquat farming then, the ammy is supposingly used for that very purpose. That has to be the most convincing research so far. Really this data only applies to higher level herbs. It could quite possibly be different for lower herbs. I think it'd be a tad better to do about 100 seeds of each herb and then find the herb:seed ratio for each, and all. The fact that you're using different herbs might skew it as well. But knowing Runescape, they probably made it all the exact same.

No real difference there. I was thinking to do some research on kwuarms too, but after I saw the result here I thought I wouldn't bother.
