Anyone watch the new LOST(spoiler)?

He couldn't have escaped. If you look at the door you could only lock it from HIS side. If he tried to escape, both he and Desmond would die as the station flooded... It was decided to give himself to save Desmond.

The station wouldn't have flooded. Technically the little room that he was in wouldn't flood all the way either, but the writers of the show are writers, not physicists, so I just let it slide as suspension of disbelief. Also the doors have wheel-things on the outside to close them, so they can be closed from Desmond's side. Charlie decided to die because that was the only way to save Claire.

EDIT: screwed up the quote tags

Every discussion about Lost this past week has mentioned it, but the original person who figured it out is probably DarkUFO. It was on his site pretty much right after the episode ended.

God yes, there's no way in hell I'd have noticed that myself. :) After watching it I Googled Hoffs Drawlar to see what it came up with.

The Poison Fairy

and I believe it's also stated in the Lost Answers thingy that was on.

Charlie could have ran out of the room then shut the door but he stayed since that's the only way the vision of being rescued would come true. The window looked like he could have got through it if he tried. I don't want Charlie dead either but the island called everyone there for a reason. The code was designed by a musician, that was obviously Charlies purpose so he is no longer needed, unfortunately.

That is the only thing that bothered me during this episode, Charlie could have very easily escaped. For some reason until you just said it I never considered that he knew he could make it out fine, but decided this was the way it had to happen. That's obviously why it worked out like that, I am kind of disappointed I didn't think of it.

EDIT: sorry for the double post, wasn't thinking.

first off it would take time to flood that whole thing from a small hole, enough time to put on some scuba gear? Second your telling me that they can have enough air to swim down to it, but not swim up from it. It would take like 2x fast to swim out of it. Makes no sense to me, sounded to me like he was suicidal more than anything or the writers really wanted to kill someone off. Can't wait till next seasons, I don't believe they are off the island just yet.

I thought it was Locke's funeral, you know how nobody really liked him and all.

I actually thought it was Ben's to be honest...Dunno why

Charlie dies because otherwise no one would be rescued. He could have escaped but he chose not to, death would always chase him and there would be no chance of rescue according to Des.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Desmond has sometimes been untruthful about his visions when telling them to Charlie. Since we didn't see his vision it could have been another outcome but Des had to lie to Charlie to try and save him maybe.

I think we did see Desmonds vision, and i don't think he was being untruthful. I mean, he tried his best to save Charlie.
