Bubsa Posted May 13, 2007 Share Posted May 13, 2007 Well, it all began on a spaceship called the Red Dwarf - used to farm minerals in the far reaches of space and all that nonsense. The main protagonist, Dave Lister, slobs his way through the journey. He is sentenced to 18-months in suspended animation for smuggling his pregnant cat Frankenstine on-board. But Dave awakes from Suspended animation, only to find he's been frozen for 3 million years and the crew have been wiped out in a radioactive disaster, caused by his cat. His cat has now mutated, the whole crew is dead (Everyone's dead, Dave :XD:) and the computer's system, "Hollie", can only bring back one hologram to assist Lister, the smeghead that is Arnold Rimmer - constantly demeaning Lister, yet still pathetically failing at his own attempts to be an officer himself. The cat, meanwhile, has morphed into some vain humanoid - obviously, I mean, follow the logic - and they initiate a plan to return to Earth, where Lister, due to Bank interest, would own 98% of the world's wealth. That's the basic jist :P There are a lot of mishaps, reincarnations of characters and sub-plots along the way. Unfortunately, it was one of these shows that ran on for too long, like Seinfeld, Friends, Scrubs and so on. However, the early seasons are pure gold, and the latters are still funny.
