woopidoo2
Equipment (Lenses): --50mm f/1.8 mkII - http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/show ... t=2&page=2 Cool, Im thinking about buying that one also. Im really into macro shots. I think Ill buy the EF-S though. can anyone recommend a good polarizing filter, 58mm thread? :) Im also looking for one. The Canon manual said something about a Canon Polariser, I have to check online how much it costs. If its too much, I think Ill buy one from B+W or Cokin. And navy, welcome back. I thought you left, but you keep coming back :) That lens is a great lens but is let down by the lack of USM which means you can't use a polariser for it. @ Woopidoo2: Why would you want and EF-S version of that lens? Those lenses can't be used on film/full frame cameras should you upgrade in the future. I didnt know that :-w I have just been to a lady who has alot of cats, small ones and older ones. She sells the cats for a high price, so the cats are very special. Im going to look what results I got, I hope they worked out :ohnoes: [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]
navyplaya
And navy, welcome back. I thought you left, but you keep coming back :) Thanks, I tend to do that for some reason. As for polarizing filters, I use Hoya and therefore thats what I would suggest, but I have not used others so I can't compare or rate it to others. -All sigs by me.[My Gallery]
woopidoo2
I have a question, It seems like alot of photographers start taking HDR or High Dynamic Range photos. Ive Wiki'ed it and it looks cool, but how do I make them? navyplaya
I have a question, It seems like alot of photographers start taking HDR or High Dynamic Range photos. Ive Wiki'ed it and it looks cool, but how do I make them? I've never tried this, but just from some research here are the basics as I understand them. 1. Always shoot images that are going to be used for HDR in raw. 2. Most dslr's and other high end digital cameras have a setting to take a single picture multiple times with different exposures, set your camera to this and take the image. My camera will take 3 at a time, underexposed, correctly exposed, and over exposed. 3. If your camera does not have this setting then using what ever program you use to edit your raw photos, underexpose the shot by 2 stops at the max and save it, and overexpose the shot by a max of 2 stops and save it. You should now have 3 different files, the original, the underexposed and the overexposed. (you can how ever have more than 3 mores files with each succeding file no more than 2 stops over or underexposed from the preceeding. 4. Now use an HDR processor (found this one http://www.hdrsoft.com/download.html) to combine the different exposures. And apparently from my understandings this is how it works......But I could be way off on something lol. Hopefully someone knows more about it then I do. -All sigs by me.[My Gallery]
LP
Heres where I learned HDR http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/hdr.shtml then I used Photomatix http://www.hdrsoft.com/ Download the trial, and if you feel like a pirate you can obtain a key easily, although im not saying where. after than I personally bring it into adobe lightroom and photoshop for adjustments. Thus far, its the easiest and best quality method i have come across. Heres a few of my results http://dimentichisi.deviantart.com/art/ ... n-62259447 http://dimentichisi.deviantart.com/art/ ... I-62259569 http://dimentichisi.deviantart.com/art/ ... I-62259590 http://dimentichisi.deviantart.com/art/Sublime-62259684 If you want a Macro and can afford it, look for one of these. http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/show ... t=2&page=
woopidoo2
I am facing a dilemma, I dont know which lens I will buy. I want a Macro lens, and I have found these two: (I am not going to buy them at Amazon, just using that for the reviews:) Canon EF-S 60mm F2.8 Macro Lens EF-S 60mm Review or: Canon EF 50mm F1,4 USM I am about 80% sure that I want the EF-S 60mm one, but I can use that lens on the 20D, 300D, and the 350D (Mine) only. Like greenslime said, if I update I have to sell the lens again. On top of that, by the time I have to upgrade I would have used that lens so much that it would be worth the money. Who could advice me, who has one of these lenses? [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]

Im going to show them later though, this computer cant handle more photos. possibly, it low light situation, but with the low f-stop of 2.8, outdoor shots shouldn't be a problem without a tripod at 100mm, i shoot my 70-200mm without a tripod and thats f/4 and I don't have a problem. I do take a couple extra shots of the subject just in case. You could be easily shooting faster than 1/200-1/250th of a second, plenty. :P and even better in lighter conditions. The only problem I would ever have with my 200mm would be is if my hands where shaking due to shivering or something, which would make it harder to frame the subject. In my opinion you don't have to worry about a tripod until you start hitting 300mm or low light situations. That 100mm I showed you is the best macro lens for its price/value then coming in 2nd would probably be that 60mm.
greenslime89
You have to bear in mind that it's a macro lens, designed to be used for 1:1 reproduction and for macro work a tripod is essential. Remember that for macro work, you're unlikely to be using the widest aperture, more often than not you'll be using smaller apertures (F/22-F/32) to get a decent depth of field. The F/2.8 aperture is ideal for portraits though. Photos!
woopidoo2
Its hard to choose. EF-S 60mm - EF 100mm - Cheaper - Bit more Expensive - Upgrade+Sell - Upgrade+No Sell And all the good reviews :? greenslime89
Great news for Canon photographers! The Canon EOS 40D has finally been released! The body alone will cost ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã900 and it boasts a 10.1MP CMOS sensor, 6.5 fps burst mode for 75 JPEGs and a huge 3" LCD display with live view. This camera looks like its going to be a huge hit with many amateurs and I know I'll be upgrading to this in a few years once the shutter on my 20D is worn out. The frightening thing is that at 6.5fps, and a 100,000 shutter life, you can burn through the shutter in 4.27 hours :? Link Photos!

Link Thats great, I heard some stories about 'Leaked' information, and now it has finally been released  Ive made my desicion, I go for the 60mm. They are both great lenses, but the 100mm is just a bit too expensive. And my dad might get the 60mm cheaper when he goes to America, with the ÃÆââââ¬Ã¡Ãâì-$ difference. greenslime89
I've got some great news: I'm allowed to buy my new lens soon, and recover the money later. woopidoo2
Show some photos of the lens when you have it  Ive been searching for the normal prices of the EF 100mm. I switched my choice, and Ill buy the EF 100mm instead of the EFS 60mm. (because I will upgrade anyway, and Ill spend much more money if I need a new macro lens for my new camera when I have the EFS 60mm. I could sell it then, but that wouldnt help much either.) I noticed a huge price difference in The Netherlands / America, I didnt expect this at all. Dutch price: cheapest price I could find was 670 Dollars, American price: 470 Dollars, from http://www.adorama.com. thats 200 dollars difference! for the same lens. I guess Ill import it then, I dont know what the delivery costs will be though. Im also going to search for a remote control, those are cheap. 8-) [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]

navyplaya
Hi Chad, and welcome. It is a decent picture. But I would have like to see the building in the foreground more to the right, with the other buildings behind it in a row fading into the background. So in other words what you need to work on is composition of your photos. You know what will look good, but you need to know how to set up the photo. You should post a gallery in the gallery with some more works of your photos. -All sigs by me.[My Gallery]
