Tired_souls
Now that i have lvl 43 mage and a bunch of nats (1.7k to be exact) is it worth doing superheat? I was thinking of using it in the wild to make steel bars in the "Skeleton Mine" Anyways i wanna know if its a good money maker making steel bars? also will i get smithing xp and mage xp when performing superheat? Vulxai
With a fire staff, superheat is 300 gp per cast. Each cast you will get a steel bar which sells for 550-600 IIRC. So that's about -250 to -300 gp per cast. It gives mage xp and I'm not sure about smithing xp. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~

countzeroh
I generally superheat mith or above. for Steel, I find that using either nietiznot or Port Phantasmys, actually smelting is not that painful, and I am usually making cannonballs so nead a furnace anyway I wouldn't bother superheating Steel....but it's up to you OH...and yes you do get both smithing and magic xp...so there's the good news cheers
nicrune007
Hmmm Addy bars works fine for me.. but coal 180 ea addy ore 800 ea nats 300 ea So the total cost is 2180 profit of 20-120 gp per bar and i can make 600 per hour... 1200 per hour is possible but i got a life :D Hey Nicrune007 , Whats Your Username? 99 Ranged on 2/6/07 99 Hit Points on 9/5/08 99 Defense on 26/4/08 99 Attack on 14/2/09 99 Strength on 25/2/09 99 Slayer on 13/9/09\:D/
Tired_souls
ok thanks.. so far my combat lvl is 31 (mage/range) and am using the skelly mine in wild for the steel casue there 3 coals and 2 iron. only problem with this is the skellys taking 10 mins to be non-agressive so its annoying mining there.. if anyone gots a better place to mine coal and iron it would be greatly appreciated am F2P btw

mastermule52
Hey there. Well first let me say I superheat all my ores, but I'm also 99 rc, so I can make lots of natures very fast so it's no problem for me. That aside, I still recommend doing it. The magic exp is really good, and it's faster to smith too. The BEST part of it, however, is how often you have to bank. Because you can superheat, you can mine 3x the amount of ores or more with higher ores every trip. And that means faster mining. It definitely is how I would do it if I were you. :D The refuge that you built to flee that places that you've come to fear the most ... is the place that you have come to fear the most.Operator - http://www.heartunit.orgCouncil - http://z8.invisionfree.com/skillazModerator - http://forum.meebo.com
Doomster
Expensive, but faster (as all the expensive methods tend to be), I'd rather keep the nats for high alch or bind, or to superheat something higher than steel, as it uses more coal per zap. The skeleton / steel mine is pretty poor - few ores, aggressive monsters and low level wilderness hazard - though I guess it's ok if the speed of mining is not a problem there.
