Talal28
Ok, as you can see by my title, I want to know if i should get an HP computer or a Dell with Vista Ultimate Installed and maybe 2gigs of RAM. What type of computer runs more efficently with Vista? I need some help deciding, since im probably going to buy a new computer in the summer. Brandon_7
HP's are better than Dell's from what I understand. I'd definitely get an HP. They are better computer's overall, I think it will Vista more efficiently.

ooberman
Both pretty much of a muchness when they are working. If anything dell may just edge it. You need to think about after sales care and what type of warranty you will get. It's not what type of computer it is that makes it run better, it's what is inside the computer. Give us a couple of links to the computers your thinking of buying and I'm sure you'll get a few opinions. And I would definetaley get 2 gig of ram if your going to get vista. oober
blade995
If you compare the same spec computer made by Dell and HP, they would both run Vista the same. It's not who makes it, it's what is inside. Like somebody before said, look and see who has a better warenty.

I still havn't gone shopping for them, and I might be able to go looking in like 1 week.

Well, I've used both, read reviews/articles for both , and heard other's overall consensus for both. It could just be a matter of opinion, but I think that HP's are great computers. That's not to say that Dell's aren't, but I just like HP's more. Of course it really just depends on what's inside of the computer. I've just never in my life heard of anyone refer to a standard Dell computer as great.

Me too, Ive always heard people saying that HP is good, alot of my friends have Hp's and the computer I'm running atm is an 8 year old E-Machine that updates dont change anything on it. Somnambulism
I would choose an HP machine over a Dell if they were similarly specced, but the point is you seemed to ignore the specifications entirely - and that is what matters the most. By a very long way. That's why you can't say "an HP is better than a Dell for Vista" because you could mean a ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã300 HP machine and some ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2,000 Dell XPS. das1330
It all depends on who you like better. personally I like dell and I have never had a problem with them, but some people feel just the same about hp. The only real advantage hp has over dell right now is that their laptop cases are better looking, which itself is only true on the non - xps models. dsavi
I would get a Dell. HP is expensive and my friend's Dell has never failed him. Oh eah, and DON'T. GET. VISTA ULTIMATE. Home Premium has everything you need.
das1330
Dell XPS is their high end computer models. they start at ~ 1000$ and are usually more gamer oriented.

1alebcay
If you are going to be needing customer support dell will be better. (But saying Dell has better customer support is really an insult because they would need better support because their computers crash...) Personally, I would go with custom made because with the brand name ones you have to do everything their way. (and their cases are a pain to work with) What has become of the runescape community???? :wall:There is a community?
Ashlyn_Hart
Are you really that into getting Vista? There are still WAAAAYYYY too many bugs for me to be comfortable with using Vista. I happened to get my new laptop just before Vista was being put on all computers sold in the US. I wouldn't upgrade to Vista even if my life depended on it. I'm a married mother that plays RuneScape. Got a problem with that?
blade995
What is with this forum bashing vista lately? It seems the bandwagon rolled by and everybody got on it but me. Most of these people have probaly not even tried Vista, they have just read bad things about it. I'm using it on my computer and I barely have any problems. Most of these people have probably not even tried Vista, they have just read bad things about it. I'm using it on my computer and I barely have any problems. thats what Im thinking. Vista IS a better operating system, and if you want to play any games ~ 1 year from now you will need it, as its the only operating system with dx10. if you buy xp, you will just end up with having to upgrade for about $100 a year or 2 down the road. Bottom line: get vista as far as hardware, dell's crash no more then HP's do, all of those claims stem from one bad part put in their computers a few years ago that caused many many problems. Both manufacturers use the exact same hardware, in most cases.

mastermule52
Here's one tip, don't get Vista Home Basic, it sucks. Get Home Premium. IMHO, the same was true with XP (between home and professional). It's worth the extra money, and usually if you get a little extra hardware they give it to you for free. blade995
I wouldnt get neither, I made a window vista ult pc for only 400$ $400? Is that including a case, power supply, optical drives ect.? Is that also including a legit copy of Vista Ultimate? That alone is $200 for an OEM copy.
