June 9, 200719 yr Ok, I've never heard of this guy before, so I don't know about the background. Are we talking about assisted-suicide or euthanasia? Because to me they are both very different scenarios, I'd be for euthanasia but not assisted suicide. I feel exactly the same way. And Kevorkian practices assisted suicide, convincing his patients that it's the best way. He's a maniac. What if a patient was the one doing the convincing, i.e. they seriously wanted to die. Not ok? Suicidal thoughts are often associated with depression. They may have wanted to seriously die when they were depressed, but what if they weren't? Assisted suicide is like a nurse asking an alzheimer (sp?) patient to make him her guardian or whatever, telling him/her to sign the form for no apparent reason and the patient is in no right frame of mind anymore (like later stages of alzheimers). A patient suffering with severe depression would seem to have a hellish life and the patient would want to make an irrational decision such as suicide. You're supposed to show them that suicide isn't the "way out" and that what the patient needs is LIFE. Instead, you're wanting to do a half-assed job and go ahead and "put the patient out of his/her misery" and come up with a seemingly good reason such as "Oh he DESERVES peace, doesn't he? Then, why not we give him eternal rest and let him get what he wants?" I was just talking in hypothetics. Don't let emotion run your argument. Here, I'll refine the hypothetical situation for you. Would assisted suicide be ok if: 1) A person had a severe nerve or muscle disease which caused constant pain yet restriced, if any, general muscle movement (meaning they can't possibly kill themselves). 2) They could talk and were certain they wanted to die. 3) It was evident that they were in a clear state of mind with no depression. 4) No one was pressuring them into any descision. Ok or still absolutely not from your perspective?
June 9, 200719 yr posting on wii its hard Humans have a will to live, and that is what we are meant to do. Personally, i think anyone who WANTS to die, is mentally ill. (Wrist now hurts, therefore i moved to my computer) Humans also have a will to remove and avoid any pain. I wouldn't call people mentally i'll if they have 24 hour a day pain and have thoughts about relinquishing it.

June 9, 200719 yr To be honest, in your hypothetical situation, I would just suck it up and live the best I could. Not gonna let pain or anything get in the way of my one shot at life. Besides, wouldn't that much pain eventually throw your body into shock? SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

June 9, 200719 yr Honestly what the f**k is going on here? It used to be okay and then one or two people went in and tried to f**k with everyone's opinions and beliefs and seem to be a bad influence, maybe even intentionally. First it wasn't really that bad, and then they started supporting suicide and other sh*t. I'm going to get flamed, but I don't give a flying f**k if I do or not. I hate people that support satanism and greed, hatred, etc. I mean f*** you. I believe anyone who commits suicide for whatever reason is an f'ing coward. So yeah. It's like Locke said in an old thread of mine, "open-mindedness" is just another form of close-mindedness. If you have to have evidence for everything, and totally ignore/reject everything that isn't provable, you are a "close-minded idiot" which you hate. You became what you hate. And I do realize that saying I hate people that support hatred could be used against me, but I don't give a damn. I guess dislike would be a more appropriate word, but meh, I have to vent my frustration somehow. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

I wasn't asking for any proof or attacking your opinion; just trying to find out what it actually is. Whatever mate, you've just answered in a way better than you could have if you had remained level headed. I don't care if you have a different opinion to me. I was just trying to make a discussion for the purposes of finding out what others think. If you get all defensive as you have and think I'm trying to [bleep] with your opinions or beliefs, it shows clearly how well formulated or steadfast in the face of scruitiny they are.

It's amazing how you can type so much blather in a heated state of mind, yet say absolutely nothing that's actually related to the topic. June 10, 200719 yr K... what happened to the friendly debate that was happening on the first few pages? We're just trying to spark some serious discussion about a pretty relevant issue, this is TIF, no need to get angry and flame... Hows about we keep this on friendly grounds mkay? I for one think this is a pretty good topic and don't want it to be locked.
June 10, 200719 yr He has Hepatitis C...and isn't expected to live more than another year. Who cares if he's out? He's going to be bed-ridden until his death, anyways.
June 10, 200719 yr Assisted suicide is fine, if the person wants it. :? How do you prove the person wants it? Trix.--quit WoW as of 12/07Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar!
June 10, 200719 yr I hate that dude. I did a presentation for an oral communications class against assited suicide, there's absolutely no reason for it. That guy thinks he's doing so much good... :shame: Dude, under certain medical conditions, The Church supports assisted suicide. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If The Church has nothing against it, it's pretty hard to argue against assisted suicide as a whole. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

No no, I hate the mindless following of Christianity combined with a total disregard of what is right, logical, and/or moral, not the Church. The Church has done a lot of good for the world, and it offers a valuable perspective about the world that preserves the value of humans that other viewpoints often diminish. Still, attacking me doesn't change my point that the fact that the Church supports assisted suicide (under specific medical conditions of course, not just because someone is depressed) is so important. The Church is the top world organization supporting the value of human life, which is why I feel the need to make such a large point about their supporting of assisted suicide having such a powerful meaning in regards to the issue.
