Striker6
Are Metallica the greatest band ever? Discuss. Also name some of your favourite songs if you feel obliged
assassin_696
Best band ever? Nah. But they certainly brought thrash metal to the mainstream and redefined a genre that was leaning more towards hair metal. There's no pretence with Metallica, they're straight up. Poopingman
Godfathers of thrash, to be sure. Nowadays, they pretty much suck mightily. Ride The Lightning was their best release. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
FrancisRune83
My favorite album would be Kill 'Em All. My number 1 favorite song is Seek and Destroy. The most funniest concert I watched is Seattle, 1989. James was so drunk that night. And I have attended that show. First - Credit to Otbg . Sir_Alex85
I'd say I rank my favourites by them something like: ...And Justice For All Kill 'Em All Ride The Lightning Master Of Puppets. 4 really good releases there. Black album has a few good songs as well, but never got into it as fully. As for the big four of thrash, Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, then Slayer. All very good. Sir_Alex85
Pantera go by like, "groove metal" or something like that. Great band, though. Never really had a 'bad' album. ;P It really has
FrancisRune83
Pantera rocks too. Metallica is suppose to have more albums than Megadeth, but Megadeth has more, even though it was formed in '83 while Metallica was formed in '81. First - Credit to Otbg . cocacolabottle
I'm not much of a Metallica fan, I occcasionally play a few tracks but I can't seem to listen to more then 3 at a time without getting bored, they use so many same chords and voice intonations it's not normal. The songs I like are mostly their commercial ones like Nothing Else Matters and One, they're allright. 99 Slayer since August 2007.
hohto
aren't you forgetting Pantera? Pantera isn't counted to the legendary 4. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm

FrancisRune83
Sad But True is a great Metallica song (or should I say single), but does not have much lyrics. Also, I think the new Metallica album will be terrible since the New Metallica sucks. First - Credit to Otbg . Second - Credit to 4be2jue

FrancisRune83
The Black Album was Metallica's final good album. The albums like Load or ReLoad are terrible. I'd rather buy the albums rather than the singles, since you can listen to the songs that are released as singles in the whole album. First - Credit to Otbg . Icingdeath
My favorite album was either RTL or Master of Puppets. Master of Puppets has some wicked brutal songs, like Battery. And Ride the Lightning has For Whom the Bell Tolls, my all time favorite song. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
