Skill Updates

I realized on my blog I rarely talk about my skills. So for all who are interested here's my plans for the future!

I recently reached my goal of 70 fletching. Now I want to get my stregnth from 88 to 90 and then raise my attack from 90 to 99. After I'm finished with my slayer assignment I think I'll start going to Pest Control and train like crazy! After I finish training combat I'll go back to my goal of completing every quest and obtaining my quest cape.

I recon my blog will become most interesting when I start working on those quests. Because Pest Control will get old and will be very boring. Nuthin to write about there that I havn't written allready....

P.S. Thank you everyone who's posted to my blog. I love writing and it makes me feel good that you like reading it.

A couple of days ago I was training slayer and I ran into a bunch of weirdos with agility capes on my way to Brimhaven dungeon. Then, today I found this old post on Runescape forums which I copied and pasted here.

The Z Syndicate Pt1

A Great Soldiers Demise[hide=Old Vid] [/hide] If you listened close enough you could hear the swords clashing all the way from Edgeville. I could tell there was a war going on somewhere... and then a messenger from my clan came to me.

"I came as quickly as I could sir!"

"What is going on?" I asked

"We're in the middle of an intense battle. Gunit gathered up all the troops he could and headed north to face the enemy. It doesn't look good..."

"What? A war without me?! This is madness!"

"Yes, I'm sorry sir. I don't know the reasons behind this. Gunit just called us all to Edgeville he said it was urgent. He fitted us all with the best equipment and we headed off to battle."

"I guess I'll have to suit up and join my clan in battle then."

"I don't know sir; I think it's too late."

Moments later Gunit and a couple troops retreated into Edgeville. I ran up to him and said, "What is the meaning of this? How could you just take my troops into battle without my permission?!"

"I had a score to settle, there are allot of clans after me and I had to get them off my back." He replied.

Gunit, you can't just use the clan as leverage against your enemies! With power comes a responsibility and if you abuse that power..."

He snapped back at me, "When was the last time this clan has seen a war Joe?!"[hide=Flashback] [/hide] "Okay I'll admit, it's been a while, but we're in a transitioning state. I've been training them for war, but it takes lots of time and resources."

"Ya well, iron sharpens iron. The only way we can properly train for war is war itself."

"Yes, I understand Gunit, but our lives and reputations are at stake. You have to choose your battles carefully and you could have at least TOLD me you were taking the troops to war!"

"I had no time we had to act fast..."

The enemy clan then crossed the border of the wild and entered Edgeville. One of their commanding officers walked up to us and gave Gunit a pat on the back.

"It was a good fight lad, but you couldn't hold us down. Good thing I had a little mercy on you. Next time we see you I'll take it upon myself to spill your guts."

Gunit just snarled at him. The man then turned to me and asked, "And just who are you? A friend of Gunit?"

"I happen to be the leader of this clan..."

"Ah, well. They weren't bad mate; we hadn't had a fight like that in a while. It's just too bad I didnt have the chance to see you on the battlefield." On that note he walked off.

I turned to Gunit and told him, If you continue to make rash decisions such as this Ill be forced to remove you from power.

He said nothing in response, just stood there in a trance. I walked off to get away and clear my thoughts. [hide=Old Vids] [/hide]After the incident things seemed to calmed down a bit. The clan continued to take its weekly trips into the wild to pillage any adventurers that came our way. Gunit became increasingly interested in clan alliances and would often form relations with other clans without my consent. We began to PK along side other clans more often then ever. I began to fear that Native would slowly merge our clan into another and I would loose all my power. I had to do something; I couldnt just let him take complete control over The Z Syndicate. We were supposed to make joint decisions after all. I remember the straw that broke the camels back; it was a tough night

Everybody fall in! I yelled as the rest of the clan caught up to me and followed behind. Suddenly out of the shadows appeared another clan. I drew my sword and was just about to command the troops to attack, but before I could Gunit grabbed my hand.

This is not our enemy but our ally.

The leader of the allied clan spoke up.

What clan is this?!

Its The Z Syndicate. I replied.

Ah, one of our allies. Ok, fall in or die!

Excuse me?! I exclaimed.

Fall in or die!

Native followed this leader and a few of our troops followed along, while some of them were unsure and stood behind me.

I dont know if I like your tone of voice what right do you have commanding my troops

FALL IN OR DIE! You have 10 seconds to comply!

Just do it Joe! yelled Gunit

I stood still.

1!

Come on Joe! he said, begging me to follow

2!

Joe, they WILL kill you, come on!

3!

My most loyal clan members stood behind me.

4!

I noticed some of my troops unsure of whose side to take.

5!

We scattered like mice.

6!

They are serious Joe! Its in your best interest to follow them! Said Gunit again, hoping I wouldnt cause any trouble.

7!

I stood my ground

8!

The pressure was building.

9!

Joe?!

Finally I gave in, and followed this leader, a leader I didnt trust.

Youve made the right decision She said.

Phew, you scared me for a second there Joe said Native.

So we joined up with this allied clan to form a group of over 100. I noticed tension rising between Christopher Bandito (a member of my clan) and Gunit. Chris didnt like the things Gunit had been doing and the two of them got into an intense argument during the hunt.

Dont you think youve gone a little far Gunit?

What do you mean?

The power, its going to youre head

Its not going to my head Chris, I know my limitations.

I dont think you do

Just stop talking. Were over level 40 wilderness now.

And then Christopher uttered those two dreaded words. For what seemed like just words actually cut through the Gunits heart like poisonous darts/

Fat head

All of the sudden, Gunit did something I couldnt believe.

All on Christopher!

He ordered the allied troops to kill Chris.

Noooooooooooooooooo! I yelled, Stop!

But they wouldnt listen, it was as if someone threw a slab of meat into a pit of lions, he was devoured by one hundred swords. No one expected those two little words to be his last

After watching Gunit so brutally betray one of our best clan members I had no choice but to leave. There were so many people there and so many things going on at the same time that not everyone knew what exactly had just happened. Some of my clan members shouted to me as I walked away.

When I got back I laid my bed in Edgeville and slept for the night. The next morning I kicked Gunit from Z for what he did. I informed the Syndicate on what had happened and explained my reasons for telling Gunit to leave. A rift formed in Z that day. Half of the members were unhappy with what I did, while the other half felt it was the right decision and were glad to see him leave. Regardless of other opinions I had to continue to do what I felt was right.

The Aftermath

Now that Native was gone I had a new problem, we needed a new co-leader. However I couldnt simply just choose one of my most trusted members. I was afraid the same thing might happen again, what if the power went to their head? There are few people you can trust with such power.

I wanted to have a co-leader and three selected representatives in power too as sort of generals. And if there were going to be any major decisions made without me I wanted the four leaders to discuss it and come to some sort of agreement before it could be done.

I knew I needed to carefully select the right people for these positions of power and it wouldnt be easy. I quickly turned to my long time advisor Ducklordingx and we came up with a plan to fill in the proper positions. We started interviewing people and tried our best to figure out who we could trust with these important roles.

In the mean time the clan was getting restless. Everyone had mixed feelings about Gunit. By this time everyone understood what he did was wrong, but some still wanted him back. While others wanted him dead, and planned to put a bounty on his head.

200k they said, I will pay the bounty Joe, for whoever will bring us his head.

No I dont feel its necessary I said, but they continued.

Ill offer 400k for his head, who can bring it to me? said another.

No I want his head! They argued.

No, me Ill pay more!

Hell, Ill kill him for free!

Hahahaha.

It wasnt long until someone came to me with a present saying, This is the head of the traitor, Native Gunit himself, and I present to you his amour and weapon as well! Justice has been served this day!

With all of this going on, rebuilding the clans leadership, controlling the wilderness, and the death of the traitor Native Gunit, I was still plagued by the image of Christopher Bandito cut to pieces by our own.

Its your fault he was killed Boston!

No thats not true!

If you would have just held your ground it wouldnt have happened!

Their numbers were greater then ours! There would have been twice the bloodshed!

I was going insane! Thoughts raced through my head!

Face it Boston youre all washed up!

Why do we fight?

Power corrupts.

Joe?

To win the war.

Your time is up.

All washed up.

Are you there?

Murderer!

Liar, traitor, pig!

Just quit!

Hello?

AHHH! I screamed

Are you ok Joe? You dont look to good. said Gravedigg.

Huh? Oh, yes, Im fine! I replied nervously.

Youve been talking to yourself

Oh, really? I guess I just have something troubling me I think I need to get my mind off of things I have to get away for a while.

But the clan was going to PK today.

How about you take them, I really need to get away.

Sure thing Boston, you can count on me.

I then traveled deep into the wilderness to disappear, forever.

A Dead Man's Journal

These are the words written in the journal of Bostonjoe:

Day 1

I have fled to the wilderness to gain solitude. I will create a log of my journey and use the blood of my enemies to write it. Everyone I encounter out here in the wilderness must die, no one can disturb my solitude!

I left everything behind yesterday. I think Im having a nervous breakdown. Im hearing voices in my head, voices of people Ive known long ago. Some of them are already dead; some of them are still alive as far as I know. Plus I have a strange feeling that someone or something is following me like trying to hunt me down. I think Ill just stay out here in this quiet place to clear my head. Ill remain in the wilderness until I think Ive regained my sanity. Ill go east and fish some lobster and then Ill come back here to the demonic ruins and slay as many demons as I can.

Day 3

Here I am, still in the wilderness, still hearing voices. Once in a while I travel to the bank to store random loot I find from the Greater Demons. I killed a man yesterday. He seemed friendly but I couldnt take any chances, you cant trust anyone out here so far away from any towns Buried his body next to the pentagram I still feel something is watching me, possibly waiting for the best opportunity to strike. I need to keep my guard up.

Day 7

A clan tried to kill me yesterday. There were too many of them for me to fight. I managed to escape to a stronghold down south. A mage followed me upstairs, so I tore his limbs off. Thatll teach em. After waiting it out for a tad I returned to the demonic ruins to kill more demons. Maybe that clan was what was hunting me down; although I still have the feeling someone is watching me.

Day 8

That clan returned again for another go. This time they had more people, and mages. I took off my rune armor and changed into green dragon hide I got from a ranger I killed earlier today. Magic blasts are nothing against dragon hides. I escaped again. Who knows when theyll show up for a third try?

Day 9

I think the voices are gone No sign of my little friends either. Its so quiet out here today Not one sign of a single soul. Not even the occasional wanderer. Im almost lonely

Day 12

Ive grown used to the silence The only thing I hear is the cries of demons screaming as I cut them to shreds

Day 13

That clan came back again! It was the same clan I know it! They had even more troops this time. Still I managed to get away, but barely! Ive taken a serious wound to the ribs I need to rest here for a while

Day 15

Its cold and dark every day gets darker

Day 17

Another day in the wild Ive returned to Greater Demons again. After fighting so many of them they seem like puppy dogs. Im so bored out here.

Day 18

I think I'm beginning to miss the clan and, well... civilization... and I still feel like someone... or something... is tracking my steps, possibly even watching me at all times... Maybe I've been out here long enough. Maybe I should consider coming back...

Day 19

Someone seriously wants me dead!

Day 20

Here I lay in the wilderness, my last stand. It finally got me. It was watching me and now it got me. I thought it left for a while, but it came I will now die a cold and lonely death here. I will become just another one of the skeletons that decorate this gray land. In case one of my old clan members finds this journal, here I write to you. It is my demise.

This time I write with my own blood... Not that of my enemy...

Ashes Against The Wind

The Z Syndicate met in the courtyard and a hooded man in black robes stood before them with a scroll in his hand. He lifted up the scroll, unrolled it and read,

Let it be known, this day October 31st 06,

That the clan leader Boston Sigkar Joe of the Freminnik Province,

Has been found dead in the wilderness at 12 am this morning.

Gasps carried throughout the courtyard. Everyone was shocked and saddened. No one knew quite what to think of it. No one thought it would ever happen. Each of them took it in different ways. Some grieved, some lost all hope, some questioned why, and some could not believe it had really happened at all.

When the mysterious messenger was finished he rolled the scroll back up and started to leave, but before he could Talim ran up to him with Grave and Duck close behind.

I am not convinced; I demand to see the body for my own eyes!

Im sorry, but the body was taken away and burned to ash. Ive put the ashes in an urn. You can have it if you want it.

Fine! Give me the ashes! she demanded

The hooded man reached in the sleeve of his robe and pulled out an urn. He opened it up and inside was ash. Talim took the urn from the man, reached inside and brushed her hands against what was left of her leader. She frowned and closed the urn.

Oh I see Well, do you mind if I keep this? said Talim as she starred into the ash.

Yes, you may. I have no further use for it.

Gravedigg spoke up, How did he die then?

Im sorry? said the hooded man.

How did the great Bostonjoe die?

Were not sure; when we found the body it had been severely beaten. It was probably a greater demon or something Now if youll excuse me I really must be off. On that note the hooded figure left and was never seen again.

Do do you think hes really dead? whispered Talim.

It seems a little fishy to me. Duck replied.

Gravedigg laughed, He cant be! Hes always managed to survive in a pinch and I doubt a puny little Greater Demon would be the thing to kill him!

Hand me the urn Talim.

She handed it to Duck.

Lets go back to my house, discuss what has just happened, and do a little research. said Duck.

So the three of them were off, and continued to look into the matter at hand.

Just as I thought! Duck exclaimed

What is it? said Talim.

Ducklord took a pinch of ash and tasted it.

Eww! yelled Talim.

What are you doing?! Grave exclaimed.

These are not the ashes of a human.

Theyre not? Talim inquired.

No, they are in fact the ashes of an imp. Probably many imps in one urn.

Well that certainly explains a lot Grave commented.

But what about the diary we found, you dont think it was written by Joe?

Oh, it was written by Joe indeed. But it was most certainly written as a set up. said Duck

Why do you think that? asked Talim

The date on the last page of the Journal is October 20th, yet our strange hooded man told us his body was found on the 31st.

So what? Its understandable that they may have found the body days after. It was way out in the wilderness after all. said Grave.

Yes, but the hooded man also said when they found the body it was severely beaten. Not decayed, beaten. If Joe died on the 20th and the body was found eleven days after it would have to have been decayed! It only takes three days for a body to start to decay imagine what it may have looked like by day eleven! Whoever found him would not have been able to make out a scratch or a bruise in that amount of time.

So its true then he is alive! exclaimed Talim.

Yes, we certainly have quite a bit of evidence that points to that, but still not enough to actually prove it.

So what more do we need to be sure? said Gravedigg.

Well, it would help if we could somehow find him. said Duck.

Oh yeah right. Like well ever find him! How would we even go about that. Gravedigg exclaimed.

Not to worry Gravedigg, I have many magical devices laying around in my home. I have not yet revealed my looking orbs. I can view nearly all of Runescape with them!

So what do we do when we find him? Talim asked.

I have something very special planned when we find him But you can leave that up to me.

Grave and Talim just looked at each other, puzzled.

Well, I think that is enough for today. Thank you both for coming here and discussing this with me. I have some research I need to attend to now, so I must ask you to leave. said Duck

Okay, sure. But what should we do in the mean time? Talim asked.

Just rest easy and forget about the whole thing, I will handle the rest. When the time comes we will hold a special memorial service for him. Oh, and remember, not a word of this to any of the clan members yet we are all sworn to secrecy understand?

Understood. said Grave and Talim as they left Ducks humble abode.

Duck then turned to his looking orb and muttered, Mark my words Boston, I WILL find you and when I do Ill expose you for the lying dog that you are!

The Z Syndicate Pt5

The Funeral

Former Z Syndicate members, old friends, and even adversaries of Bostonjoe all gathered together in the home of Ducklordingx on that sad day. All dressed in black, they paid their respects to their valiant friend and leader. Some shared stories of old times with Joe, some had poems prepared to share, some had speeches, some had words, and some spoke among themselves but everyone had a tear or two or three or four that day.

BigAlmou: We will always miss you Joe! You were a great warrior and we'll always keep your memory close to our hearts!

Harley: He certainly wont be forgotten... And neither will The Z Syndicate

Bayde_Chaos: Yes, I have to say I never expected his demise to come so... soon. Though I don't doubt it with all the fighting HE did. Should have seen it coming... sigh

Noypi_Bamboo: -.- We had our differences, but I'll miss him.

Cld64: Keep on kickin butt in that big ol dueling arena in the sky Bosty! We'll miss ya!

Atreu4lyfe: Damn it Joe! How could you be so careless out there! Why did you go alone?!

Finally when all had said their final words for the past leader, Ducklord came before them all with the urn of ashes in hand; ready to say his speech. He raised the urn above his head and SMASHED it to the ground! There were huge gasps around the room, everyone was shocked and appalled!

Everyone, I have an announcement to make! The ashes you see sprawled out across the floor are NOT the ashes of youre leader Bostonjoe, but that of an imp!

Still shocked and puzzled everyone just starred with mouths wide open.

It is true; you have all been fooled and lied to! Bostonjoe is very much alive; he is nothing more then a liar and a fake! I have spotted him roaming the earth through my looking glass!

Chaos broke out, the room was hysterical! There were people wailing in sorrow!

One person shouted, How could he DO this to us?!

Another yelled, How could he just LIE like that?!

Why did he do it?! said another

Where is he, so that we may kill him?!

YEAH! agreed some others

I do not know, for I only caught a glimpse, but I can assure you it WAS indeed him. Same red beard, same posture, same appearance! Hes probably hiding out somewhere, always on the run, always on the go! You may find him if youre lucky

And with that they scattered and went their separate ways. Some kept the hatred in their hearts and continued to seek him out, some chose to simply forget the whole thing, some waited for the day he might return, and some just didnt care at all

And thats the true story of The Z Syndicate.

  • Author

So there it is...

Dealing With Scabaras

Everybody Duck, He's Ranting Again!!

I did the new quest and was rewarded with a chore! Don't get me wrong, I like the reward, 7k xp in three skills and the ability to make head gear that protects me from the desert sun is nothing to complain about.

But I have to have 50 runecrafting to make it! And I hate runecrafting!

I've allways said I'm a natural born Freminnik, and it's true! I hate magic, I hate runecrafting, I'm stuborn, and I like to smash things! What more do you want?!

But I really want that tiara, because I KNOW that now that Jagex is has pretty muched stamped out macroing as best as they can they're going to start focusing on new quests, and probably even expand the desert.

Just you wait, we're going to see all kinds of new quests for the desert and the other outreaches of Runescape such as the cursed swamps to the east, the Elven forests to the west, and the ice wastelands to the north. Let's not forget about the Ogres in Fedlip Hills either shall we?

With all the new quests we might get in the desert I'm going to need an item that helps me "beat the heat" if you will. And I wont stop training runecrafting until I get there! So I've taken a break from attack for a little while and have focused my attention on a simpiler lifestyle...

Because of this I've finally decided to do Lunar diplomacy, and plan to do Dream Mentor soon as well. I just wish I had of taken a few more pictures of these quests along the way.

I promise I'll get a few snapshots for you guys next time around. 8-)

[hide=Quest Spoiler]P.S. Oh yeah! I almost forgot to tell all of you! I found a glitch while doing the new quest. You're not really supposed to be able to kill the high Scabara Preist but I did. I used my dds special on him, he got down to 1 hp and started talking again like normal, but then in the middle of the conversation he died from the poison. I then had to leave the room and enter again to try to complete the quest. So just a warning... DON'T TRY TO POISON HIM![/hide]

Great new stories.

It's a shame alot of people don't visit this thread because they don't like to read that much.

Keep it up.

You pmed me about your save PvP idea. While I'm sure I was just a random name you mass-pmed, I clicked on your blog link. I love these stories, and admire you for actually putting effort into your blog posts.

As you all may know, Jagex has done ALOT of new updates to discourage real world trading. One of those was putting in no unballenced trades.

Now that these updates have been set I have been on the Runescape forums ALOT letting my voice be heard. Here's where I stand on the issue.

I acctually like alot of the updates and understand why they've been set into place. I'm all for disscouraging real world trading, even though I have bought gold online in the past...

The only update that has hurt me is the wilderness update, but that's another story, my focus for this post is Runescapes ecomomy.

You would not believe the rant section in the RS forums. It's being flooded with rants about trade issues. Everyone seems to be complaining about how they can't merchant anymore. Wah wah wah! Freaking winers...

The forums were the merchanters best friend, so of course the merchanters would be going crazy on the forums!!

Skillers are also complaining, they say stuff like "Thiers no way too mak monee any mor i quitting rs!!!"

Yes, prices on just about everything have gone down. Some things have been affected more then others, but all areas of Runescape's ecomomy has seen some kind of change. Although the price of raw materials have gone down, the price on armour, weapons, runes, and arrows have gone down too!! So, if you really think about it, it still takes about the same amount of time or SHORTER to make the money to buy what you want.

Has Grand Exchange and trade updates really ruined the Runescape economy and the way people level up? That's the question a friend and I asked ourselves when we came up with this idea. We got togeather and decided to find out for ourselves.

The idea was simple, test the relationship between two people trying to level two co-inciding skills. Mining and simithing. My friend does not have a membership and is currently training mining, while I of course do have a membership and needed to train smithing. So this way we could see if non-members were effected negativly by the update as well.

First thing we did was get togeather and I bought 1000 coal off of him for 160gp each, at a total price of 160k. So right off the bat he made 160k. (this is within the 3000gp trade margin, trading for as low as I can go)

Then we minned the iron, which didn't take long. Each of us mined 250 iron, and I bought his off of him for about 20k or so.

Then came time for me to start smithing. I had to figure out what I could smith and make the most profit. First I thought about steel plates...

It takes 2 coal ore for each iron. I spent 160 on each coal ore.

160X2=320. This means I'll spend 320 on each bar. I was going to be making 500 bars, and it takes 5 bars to make a steel plate.

320X5=1600. So this means I would spend 1600 on each steel plate.

Steel plates alch for 1200gp each... so this method would not make me a profit, in fact, it would give me a loss of 40k.

Obviously this method would not work for me, but then I remembered cannonballs! With one bar you can make 4 cannonballs and they sell for about 160gp each on the Grand Exchange.

500X4=2000 (amount of cannonballs I'll have)

2000X160=320000 (amount of money I'll make)

320000-160000=160000 (amount of profit I'll make)

With this method I would double the amount I spent exactly, and that is exactly what I did. I made a profit of 160k. Each of us made 160k and got ALOT of mining and smithing experience in just a few hours.

We found that we could easily repeat this process quickly and swiftly.

We both ended up making close to 500k in one day. I found it more effective to mine half the coal and iron ore. Or mine all of the iron ore I needed, and then buy the coal. This way it brings down the cost of materials and brings up my profit. Iron ore isn't hard to mine either.

As you can see, Runescapes ecomomy has not been hurt at all. There are still just as many ways to earn money as ever. And my friend made about 400k in non-members in one day, that is alot for non-members. He could buy a few sets of full Rune, which has gone down to 160k by the way.

After finishing the first load of cannonballs I was just a few thousand xp away from 61 smithing, so I finished it off with iron plates.

And I'm now 4k xp awy from 62 smithing.

So I did Lunar Diplomacy as mentioned before so that I could craft astral runes and I also did Dream Mentor for the hell of it. Let me just tell you somthing about the Lunar Diplomacy and Dream Mentor quests, someone had to have been on drugs or had drugs in mind when they made them!!

[hide=Dream Mentor]DreamMentor.png[/hide]

Lets take a look on how we get to the "Dream World" shall we...

Ok, first we have to get some cerimonial outfit blah blah blah, this is just to make the quest longer and keep you from wondering about the whole thing. Then you have to make a "waking sleep potion" that you make with your "special herbs" and a "suqah tooth". Then you go to the "Cerimonial Brazier" and soak some "kidling" -cough- hemp -cough- with your "special potion" and burn it...

This teleports you to the "Dream World" :-k

Then theres Dream Mentor. Where you have to go to "Dream World" WITH someone. Now, to do this you have to smoke... uh I mean... enhale a very "special" kind of potion. You make this potion with some "Goutweed" and a ground Atral rune.

So after you and Oneiromancer take a sip of that "special potion" -cough- acid -cough- you're teleported to "Dream World" again to fight a "broomstick" but you're so high you don't think it's a broomstick, you think it's a giant monster...

And that's all I got to say about that quest...

So I was at the Grand Exchange selling some stuff I got from a clue scroll, and I noticed all three people lined up side by side. So I went on one end and started doing the snowman dance! Pretty soon we had a whole line of 10-15 people dancing! It was pretty fun, here's some pictures.
