Ok, I searched and I saw something similar to this- wow, I didn't know that so many smileys are user-made!

 

But there are so many smileys that we don't need. Like :!: :?: :arrow: :idea: and I have only seen :boohoo: about once or twice before. So why not replace them with user-made ones?

 

 

 

Personally, I would love to donate some. I want to do what I can for the awesome tip.it forums! But, well, I am not the best graphic designer. Never have been, and I doubt that I will improve. And I know there are people out there that want to show off their talent and help TIF like me.

 

 

 

So why not have a date every year when someone creates a sticky, possibly in this forum, where people can post their home-made smileys,

 

and then people vote on the best one?

By my memory, the smiles come with the forum, and when you set up the forum, you choose which ones you want people to be able to use. So I don't know how easy it would be to implement totally new designs.

Easier than you make it sound. I have a forum, and all it requires is to host it on something like imageshack and type the url into the smilies configuration on the admin panel, and hey presto, new smiley.

This isn't impossible in the scripting part, I would hopefully think.

 

 

 

I like all the emotions so far. I don't really see the need for any new ones. Although I may be wrong and tif may need some better ones. I like the annual contest though, sounds like a good community involvement activity. ^^

There are many smilies out there for PhpBB boards. I like the idea of having more contests and community involvement but I don't think smilies are the best "media."

Yes, I agree, and I really do think Tip It, and TIF need a lot more community involvement then what there is now. Obviously it may take time to develope ideas on how to. Sure will be worth it, if implemented.

But perhaps contests, in different categories, say Most Mature Poster Of the Month(This really isn't a contest-.-). Possibly other contests like that. Also a contest of artwork? Maybe also Trainer of the month..etc?

 

 

 

Aside from contests, and that mature poster isn't a contest, perhaps something that doesn't get someone a rank on forums, but they hold special events..such like the tip it forum events, they're a special guest there or something...=/

The annual Sack A-Mod contest. Everyone votes on the mod they want gooonnee (admin are excluded) and who they see isn't performing up to TIF standards, and the person with the most votes gets the flick! :P

 

 

 

Although it won't ever happen it'll make the mods a lot more careful in how they act towards the general TIF public. And even better, hopefully not so tight and upright in a few rare cases. :wink:

There are plenty of smiley packages available, what's to stop someone from ripping one off of those, or why not just suggest to the admins to download a different smiley pack that you would like added.

 

 

 

I would enjoy seeing, and possibly participating in more contests with the reward being a custom rank. Perhaps a "Suggest a Rank Contest" sticky, where people post their idea for a contest, and the idea is polled and then used?

Actually the large chunk of smileys we currently have are due to our Forum Admin graciously consenting to add some good smileys that we were formerly missing.
