Banning of nazi symbols

Would you like the symbol which was the last thing 12 million people saw before they were slaughtered like animals to be accepted in society?

Red flag isn't banned even at these forums, even tho under that flag has been killed many millions more than under the swastika. We got usernames here with Stalin at them and communist images at avatars. Would you allow them? Same time I was told to remove swastikas from my signature which weren't even in 45' ankle like the nazi swastika is: I wasn't allowed to use the sign of our air forces just because it could be seen my some as a nazi symbol.

Banning a symbol is ridicilous in my eyes. You don't get rid of an ideology by banning it's symbol. That just gives it more mysterious and attractive image. Banning it wouldn't stop its use at underground pressings, internet or during vandal attacks. However would that mean that many historical pictures (even in school books), movies, buildings and so on would become illegal?

I personally laugh every time someone claims that we got freedom of speech in western worlds. No, we don't. We have larger scale of accepted things, but there still are many things we can't think of, accept or protect. Is it freedom of speech when you can (and some have been) get jailed for denying holocaust while you can deny whole WW2 without any concenquines? How can we talk about freedom of speech and same time put same time protect or ban some historical events with laws? That isn't freedom of speech.

If you stopped to think for a moment then youll realise that Hitler actually killed many more people than Stalin.

Hitler was responsible for WW2. Hitler's invasions of neighbouring countries began the war, among other things. Not sure how many people died in that, but I believe it was 60mill+. Not only did he start a war that could easily have been avoided, he also murdered 4mill+ innocent jew's in the holocaust.

Stalin did kill many people, in the purges, labour camps, the liquidation of the Kulaks, etc, but not nearly as many as Hitler.

Hitler was responsible for the single biggest loss of human life ever.

Thats why swastikas are banned.

However there is also the need to remember, and Nazism cannot simply be forgotten and ignored.

Trust me, there's not one historian in the world that denies Stalin was responsible for the killing of more people than Hitler...

Stalin was responsible for only 20million deaths. While Hitler was responsible for 42million.

Not true.

Germany is strict when it comes to anything about the Nazi's, they just wanna but that behind them and move on. What a great example.

Pfft, you're looking at the Germans' opinions about the war? Go look at the godforsaken Japanese, they deny practically every cruel and messed up thing they ever did.

Still, it's sad they're banning the manji :[.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

There's starting range from 20m and ending to a lot higher numbers depending how you count it.

Hitler:

If you count all the victims of WW2 to his toll, he wins. However a world war can never be started by one lunatic, so counting them to his kills is false. We can as well blame Stalin (giving west parts of Poland to Hitler), UK leaders, French leaders, Japanese leaders, Mussolini and so on.
