I personally cannot wait, the graphics looks amazing, the PvP sounds amazing, it's M-rated, and finally a MMORPG without "sandwich-combat". You should read this and watch And sandwich combat is the combat system in for example wow. Nadril Posted July 3, 2007 Share Posted July 3, 2007 Good news on the controls. I was reading up some more on AoC and stumbled upon an IGN article where they did a play test of it. Yeah yeah, IGN but the actual article wasn't bad. For melee combat the game will use buttons such as Q,E,1,2,3 for attacks. Q for example is left swing, E is right and then 1 might be an upper left, 2 up, 3 upper right. At least thats what I understood of it. The way you do things in this game is instead of pressing "4" to do a move you instead string together combos. There is a little timer swing bar at the middle of the screen with an axis on it that lets you time attacks. If you wanted to do a move you could, for example, do "Q E 3" or whatever. As you get higher level you can do more potent and powerful combos. The video looked pretty good for them being in technical beta testing right now. A few animations were still a little choppy but there was a lot of action in the game. Ranged combat from what I read in another article works in two ways. One is where you can do more precision firing by going into first person view and aiming your arrows. Third person view gives you a little 'cone' of where your character will shoot into. Less accurate but easier to kite with. Ranged will have special combos as well. For example you could hit your enemy in the leg to hamstring them and cripple their movement speed. Spell casting is a lot like in other current MMOs except that you can 'weave ' certain spells together to cast even more potent spells. Of course this can backfire on you as well. I should also mention that in, for example melee combat, what your weapon hits it hits. There is no only being able to auto attack one enemy but if two enemies, for example, are together and you do a side swing it can hit both of them at once. Really cool stuff.
