lordkrohn1626
Government intervention has reversed evolution, and is creating an increasingly stupid population. The world is methodically being dumbed down by government efforts to protect us from stupid people. Stupid drivers don't recognize the dangers of speed, so they drive too fast and kill themselves. The government regulates speed, so now more stupid drivers survive. Stupid automobile passengers get killed because they don't buckle their seat belts. Government steps in and makes seat belt usage mandatory, so now more stupid passengers survive. Stupid pedestrians don't know enough to not step out into a busy street, so they get injured and killed trying to cross the street. The government makes laws giving them the right-of-way, so now more stupid pedestrians survive. Stupid parents don't recognize the value of childhood inoculations. The government makes them vaccinate their children before entering school, so now more children of stupid people survive. Stupid motorcyclists don't recognize the danger of riding without a helmet, so government makes helmets mandatory, so now more stupid motorcyclists survive. But stupidity begets stupidity, so we are being overwhelmed by a tsunami of stupidity. The tsunami is triggered by the government protection of stupid people, which allows them to survive to reproduce. In 1891, Herbert Spencer wrote, "The ultimate result of shielding men from folly is to fill the world with fools." Like the helmet law, in Florida, it was fought hard by a prominant biker, and he won. No longer is helmets required in Florida. Two months later, he died in a motorcycle accident, sans helmet, in a low speed accident that medical personnel said was highly survivable if only he had worn a helmet....too bad *wipes tear* I hand him a "darwin's award" My theory is you should have the choice to be stupid, want to run across the freeway during high traffic times? feel free, we will provide the shovel to scrape you up with at no charge to your family. Want to refuse to wear a seatbelt? no problem, but when you are thrown out of a car while it is cartwheeling down the road...don't expect a lot of sympathy, or medical care from your insurance company or hospital. Yeah, I am okay with primary care being given, but long term therapy and ongoing care? nah, you wanted to be a tough guy....you are on your own. You pay for it. Why should the tax payer pay for your stupidity and refusal to follow safety laws? As a reserve Police officer, I get a lot of behind the scenes time with accidents, and emergency care personnel. Want to know what we call motorcycle riders who don't wear helmets? Organ donors. Know what we call motorcycle riders who wear helmets? Identifiable organ donors. Want to live life on the edge? your right....jump on that rice rocket and fly by me at 100+, sooner or later you will um....stop. Thats why we don't sweat it when we are chasing a biker, inevitably he will lay it down, or hit an object that will teach him laws of physics....we break out the shop vac, and notify his family. Some accidents (hi speed) helmet or not your dead, but a lot of brain injuries happen from low speed laydowns....that could be prevented by wearing that uncool helmet....no worries, enjoy eating food and moving around via a straw you blow into. Anyone have a stupid story you wish to share? Yeah, I mean, some people take anti-establishment, government conspiracy, etc. to an extreme. Like those Loose Change guys. (See Maddox's page on Loose Change here. See here also.) I mean, governments like people willing to follow them, without question. Any authority does. You probably would, if you were in an authoratative position. No authority likes being questioned. However, I don't think they make big eeeeevil conspiracies about it, nor that I am a sheep for believing this way.

Adam007
It's the government's job to protect us. That's a reason why we pay taxes. If you have no need for a government, find an island somewhere. Evolution is such a long process that laws the US might have has such a negligible effect on it. I don't think it's right to think in terms of doing what's best to weed out the human race so we can best evolve. It's a natural process, and there are pressures outside our grasp (not religiously) that would shape evolution. I just don't see why you care what happens to our species so much? It's not like you'll be around to see what our final end product will be. Odds are some catastrophic event will get in the way before it even happens. Satenza
They let disabled people have things to help them live too, i mean all this helps getting stupid. Lets steal their wheelchairs and leave them out in the woods for evolution to take its true course. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Lets steal their wheelchairs and leave them out in the woods for evolution to take its true course. Wow....if you can not differentiate between someone being stupid (lack of common sense) and physically disabled.......you might need to seek professional help. Someone being dumb enough to ride a high speed open air vehicle without safety devices...and someone needing a wheelchair...big difference.....the inference to government reversing evolution was a dry humored poke at reality. Handicapped does not make you stupid. I really hope you understand the difference. internet search for darwins awards.....these are perfect examples of STUPID people. They removed themselves from the human gene pool due to their own incredible stupidity. I was making a point of how we are ensuring the stupid people survive, thus continuing to lower the collective gene pool, thus in a sense...*poke* reversing evolution (continued forward progression of a species)...if this was to much for you to comprehend, I don't think I can dumb it down much more. :uhh: Nadril: I understand and agree with you that accidents happen, I just don't agree that mcdonalds should have been held acountable for her lack of good judgement. If I go to Home Depot and grab a can of paint thinner, open it on the way out of the store, trip and spill it on my shoes, and my toes get chemical burns....I don't think I should be able to sue them.....or that they should have to have a sign that says, dont pour on your toes.....when are we as a society going to step up to the plate, and be accountable for our mistakes, rather then quickly look around for someone else to blame, and sadly, someone to sue? I do however concede your point that their coffee was allegedly substantially hotter then most.....but if you go through anyones drive through, order a cup of HOT coffee, open it and dump it on your nether region...you are gonna get burned....as it isnt designed or intended for you to do so...whether their coffee was 105 or 145 degrees, its not supposed to be dumped on your lap. Neither is paint thinner designed to go on your toes. Whether that brand of thinner was more caustic then most is irrelevent, it isnt designed to be dumped on your toes, and you cant have a sign warning against every dumb thing people will do, so you shouldn't be sued for it.
