Smithing: The best money per experience?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I was planning on going for 99 smithing eventually and wanted to start off by getting to 75 then taking a break.

I am curious as to the best amount of money I can gain while also gaining decent experience. Right now I am looking for fast money at the risk of slower xp.

I'd like to hear suggestions on ways that I can make lots of money per item smithed while also making decent xp.

I have heard of cballs making decent money 100gp per bar bought, however people say they get old fast. What are other methods to make money and xp?

**NOTE**

I am not really that interested in buying ores and then making bars and then making somthing else from those bars. I'd prefers ores to bars OR bars to an item. Not both as I will get bored faster.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Apparently, my signature was to big.

Buying ores and smelting steel and mith bars give good money but quite slow exp, so you could try that.

This signature is intentionally left blank.

I'm a fan of making iron knives, but they don't sell as often as they used to.

none.....?

Bolts are selling for quite a lot, I made about 150k iron bolts from iron ore bought for 110ea, 150k feathers 5gpea, which cost me 2.4 mil, and sold them for 5.25mil. That was a nice profit, but now the prices have fallen from 35gpea. :x

I never thought bout doing bolts. Thanks for the idea I will definatly take that into consideration as it will be more interesting, I think, to make bolts over cannonballs.

if you're ever planning on leveling mining too.. mine gold and use the gauntlets from family crest to smelt them. pretty good xp. you can use the gold bars for crafting too.

You can make steel platebodies and high alch them. That's what I did.

A nice excel file I made to calculate how much it would cost me to get to 85 smithing. Just fill in "XP Needed" and the bar costs, they changed since it's been some time. F2p only steel used to be the cheapest with -9.6 gp / xp.

It's a Excel 2007 file, if you got a older version you can download a compability pack at the MS website.

Have you ever thought about the Blast furnace? Go down there with nats and a fire staff and cash and you'll be set. You can buy all your ores from Ordan. Just make steel bars and smith those into plates and alch them. When the shop runs low on ores just hop to a different world. Only problem is it can get boring down there by yourself.

Here is tip.it guide and you will see a part about soloing the furnace.
