assassin_696
So I was poking through the iTunes Blues section yesterday looking to see if there was any new original blues music, and I came across this guy; Seasick Steve. Apparently he's become a bit of a cult figure at all the festivals he's played across the UK this summer. He's a Mississippi bluesman who dresses like a tramp, a one man band with an old battered three string guitar he bought for $75 (he tells the story of how he was ripped off) and a wooden box with a bit of carpet which he stamps on for percussion. And he's absolutely fantastic. a video of him playing on the Jools Holland show. He's properly, properly raw, and just what I think the blues should sound like. Has anybody else heard of him or listened to any of his stuff? You might have to be a blues fan to really like him, but I would have thought anybody could appreciate how fantastic this guy is. Have a listen, you can get a few MP3's of his off his website. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
How2PK
Never heard of the guy, but I'm going to check this out as soon as I've got sound on my computer. Is it worth spending 27 dollars? Who cares, you only live once. I ordered Dog House Blues. Hmm, curious to how it will sound. Uh, Dog House Music, sorry. Tigra00
Was certainly interesting. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!

Meh, I listened to three songs of his and ordered his new album and the old one he did with that other group. So yeah I'd say so :P "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

StrOwez
The sound is not to my taste and he looks like an old mischievous school boy. A friend to all is a friend to none.
Intriguing
Haha, what an awesome video. It looks like a two string guitar to me, but oh well. Cool.

Ragen
That was very very good. I could just be in a blues mood though. Edit - I'm hopefully gonna be able to see him when he comes round to Leeds in November. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar! Satenza
I saw him play this summer down south at the beach sessions. It was literally the best venue ever. A smallish marquee where the artists played then a large balconey to the side where you could sit and enjoy the beach and sunset. I was sitting down with some friends before it started and he walked past and went and sat on the beach down below to drink wine. Then when we went into the marquee to watch him he came straight through the audience and we got to pat him on the back and stuff haha. He played for a long time, it was a real bluesy type of gig i must say. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
