zeekyhbomb
Well, hahaha, someone got in to my account according to a friend. I stopped playing probably over a year ago, so whatever. I assume it was when my account was logged on to at a friends house for a couple minutes, that friend later discovered he had a key logger. I guess I should have changed my password, I didn't; didn't really care and I didn't think that the keylogger was on when my account was logged in to. Today a friend tells my brother I have been logging in the past few days. I check it out, password doesn't work. Answer my recoveries, change password, log in. Hey, I have members... huh? Well, anything any everything worth anything that was tradeable was traded over to some other account I guess. Only 2-3mil worth of stuff from what I can tell anyways. My mask and santa were lost before that so no biggie. The thing I want to know is if I can contact JAGeX in some way so they can figure out who did this. I think they used Pay By Cash, as there is no recurring payment. I'm not positive but I think theres some record, I know you send in the paper with your info in the envelope so I assume that is enough to get someone's IP or whatever, and hopefully banned. I don't give a damn about my items, just don't want this weird thing happening to anyone else.

GrimHams
Its quite a dodgy area, it isn't your account to lose, its jagex's. I'm not sure if they lose their right to the items and members if they "steal" the account from you but i wouldn't use it until you were sure you won't get charged for using someone elses members, ie stealing their money. Lord Diddy
You had a chance to save your account, yet you simply didnt do anything when you knew there was a keylogger. I do not think that Jagex is able to do that, or if reading this post would actually ban your for stupidity. Also what are talking about that "Just dont want this weird thing happening to anyone else", your freind had a keylogger of course its made to steal account. Unless you had a rule broken while that person was on your account, then maybe Jagex could see the ip, but why would they go through all that trouble? kallenkootx
but still, theres another problem you ahve, dont listen to people saying free member ship, use it if the payment is made by someone outside ur family its against the rules and for such u should send a message to them via customer support about this so they know someone made a payment without ur permission. u might never know what might happen if u dont tell them Proud owner of firemaking cape! Dragon_lord
Hehe, happened to me once. I haven't used an account for over a year, then just for old times I decided to log back in on it. To my surprise I had 17 days of membership left. I just changed my password, set new recovery questions, the works. Everything seems to be fine now. I thought about contacting Jagex on the matter, but I decided not to, seeing as they have a history of accusing innocent players of being the hackers themselves. :shame: Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.

Omali
A fried of mine logged into runescape after a while of inactivity to find that he had 30 days of membership, non recurring (wow, it had just been added on). He was like level 30, but could smith mithril, and had like 100k, and none of his items were missing. The password wasn't changed, nor was the recovery items. So he just played out the 30 days, nothing's happened to this day. He still logs in every now and then to see if the Runescape Fairy left him another month's worth :-w . chessmastuh
Really there's no easy way to contact Jagex; their office phone number used to be posted, but I believe it's been taken down (or they've moved). I recall someone phoning the Jagex offices a year or so ago to recover their banned account, but I'm relatively sure that that wouldn't work nowadays. Really, the only way to get in direct contact with them (without having a 95% probability of receiving an automated message) would be to talk to a mod face to face. How that'll get accomplished, I haven't a clue. I hear that they often leave their private chat on, if it's any help. Stunning signature created by the one and only My Boggy. So you will have to find them to talk to them. Even then they would usually be too busy to chat.
