Online now/last login

Featured Replies

I think we should have a thing under are avatar saying Last active or something like that

Example:

Last active: Online now!

Last active: 50 minutes ago.

Yes i know at the main page of the tip it forums it says whos online now but u have to search through alot of names :S

Wot do u guys think?

Lock this thread if its against the rules.

A better way would be to do something with your name. Example, if you're online your name would be red, offline would be gray or something.

it's something that happens on invisionfree forums already, but I don't know if it's possible here.

It'd be fairly easy to do. Would just get tied into the same code the runs that "Who's online" section on the index. It would add more sql queries to the code (which some will see as a bad thing), but it would be pretty easy for someone to write up.

As easy as it is to implement, it would be a waste of time with phpBB3 right around the corner, which includes this feature by default.

He's right. We will be moving to phpBB3 sometime soon (once the final version is released), and I believe it already has this feature. So it would be silly to spend time implementing it now, when we'll already be getting it in a couple weeks ;)

When phpbb3 comes, will we be voting on the features the users use, or will the admins/mods/super mods 8-) , decide?

I don't know if it's possible here.

your sig says "impossible is nothing", yet you are unsure if this act is possible? wooosh :D

So phpBB Group has come out and said the first stable release (outside the 'beta' version) is coming out in a couple of weeks, after so many years that is so not like them.

*goes over to check for himself*

I like the idea, but I am willing to wait for phpBB3 to come forth.

Thanks for at least popping the note. :)

I just had a real thought to add to this thread...

Is there any way that a player's online status to RuneScape can be determined? It would be interesting to know sometimes when us tip.it'ers are actually on RuneScape! :-s

There is, but we don't have access to the code.

Damn... Well, on the bright side, maybe Albosky stands a chance of getting to tap into the feature, seeing as Tip.It is a well-handled site and such. He'd probably have to provide a way to hide it for certain reasons, but it would be a nice feature to add. :)

*sigh* -.- ... I can dream! ::'

There is currently no way for the public to track online status in RS from outside the game itself. If there was, I'd have used it for various things already.

Actually getting something like that done would involve more work for Jagex than us because they would have to integrate it into the friends/login system, while all we'd have to do is rip a page with the online/offline text on it. I seriously doubt its on their list of important things to do even if it was suggested because of all the other crap they refuse to fix or waste time implementing.
