Dealing with being muted.

Any advice on how to deal with being muted?

 

 

 

Its only been just over an hour and I'm going insane.

 

 

 

(only posted if you have personal experience, and no crap about how I deserve this)

I honestly wouldn't even notice if I've been muted or not. I hardly say a word in the game to anyone and I get by just fine. The only time I ever say anything is when I'm buying or selling something. And even then you could always use these forums to take care of business.

 

 

 

I figure talking just gets you into trouble in the first place because people will report you for anything these days just because they don't like you or your comments. I just keep my mouth shut.

Jagex makes rules for a reason. If you break them then you suffer the consequences. End of.

 

 

 

My advice is to suffer your punishment in silence, not pester Jagex or player mods to un-mute you and be a model Runescape citizen. Then after a month you can nicely ask Jagex to reconsider you muting. Say you are very sorry and realize the distress you could have caused to other users. Promise that in the future you will be well behaved.

 

 

 

If you have to do community service in real life you cannot get round it. You do the crime, you do the time.

 

 

 

I hope if they do un-mute you then you will have learnt from your mistakes.

Okay first its 7 days.

 

 

 

Second I got a black mark for saying Hi Jew[numbers]. IT WAS THE GUYS FREAKING USERNAME.

 

 

 

And of course I'm gonna pretty much suffer this in silence, I CAN'T SAY ANYTHING INGAME.

It could be deemed as offensive. Personally it doesn't offend me.

 

 

 

However "jew" is used as a derogatory term as well as it's proper meaning. A bit like the word "gay", "spastic", and even the word "girl". It would not surprise me if this user has his name set like that just to get people like you to say the name and then report you.

 

 

 

Runescape doesn't just contain people like you. It caters for all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds. What is offensive to you, might not be for someone else, and vice versa.

 

 

 

Either way it's only a week. Not a big issue. Just go and no life slayer for a week where you don't need to talk to anyone. See the positives in it.

its just a shortining of the word if i call someone a jew that's not an offensive thing to say.

 

 

 

Same could be said of calling someone a mexican when their from mexico.

 

 

 

or calling someone a pentacosle if their from an apostolic church...

 

 

 

they are basically the same thing as an abbreviation or shortening of a word.

 

 

 

as far as someone using it an unproper from.....that would be their problem, you cant censor every ****ing word or name just to keep the .01% of peeps in the game who take everything seriously.

Just grab a pickaxe/woodcutting ask and skill and train your stats it doesn't involve talking.
