i've been working on it all of yesterday. I can say that forests are a lot harder to do than landscapes. For one, you have to get the atmosphere just right, so you don't just get this realy funky looking picture.

You also usualy have to have a LOT of objects in it. I can tell you my pc was lagging when all this stuff was in there :( . Had probaly like 100 plants/trees/ect. lol. the placement is also preaty tough.

But in the end, i got it. My only gripe about this piece is the sorta rocks (was ment more as land realy) on the front of the piece. They seem a bit too... unrealistic. I'll hopefully figure out how to fix that up when i do another scene though.

yeah i should have done a better texture for 'em >.<

They didn't seem like much of a problem in the preview renders, but hey, its something to work on the next time :)

thats way cool. well done. but the 'rock' look to smoth and bubpy. you need flatter and rough.

thanks everyone for the sigs!

I like it alot. Except the rock, it looks like melting wax :? Fix that up and it will be perfect/close to.

Yeah i may re-render tonight with a better rock. Just try and ignore for now

Thanks everyone.

Wow, that picture is great. Mabey if you make the rocks look green like the land next to tehn (which seems to be fine) it would look better.

The background trees are pretty good. But the foreground ones have the definite 3d generated look going. Some afterwork in ps could help a lot..rough up the bark especially.

The rocks...yeah...I think you might try another as you mentioned, but I don't know if they will be that much closer. You might just paint in some rocks. Those are not even close.

Hopefully my next scene will be better, these are hard , yet fun to make :D

Top half looks real.

Bottom half looks like a 5 min job.

:?

That is suppose to be dirt?

it's nice, but how much of that did you actually do? i thought trees were premade models. Also, the rock texture doesn't look right, but keep trying, your getting good at Vue :D

yeah, trees are premade models. I don't have the software to make my own atm (and making a boolian of one.. no thanks) so i had to use defualts.

but it was hard still to get placements and the atmosphere right :) thanks.

:S they look ok from far away, but when theyre close the look so... plastiky and fake T_T

I don't like it at all... As of now it has no focal point, It looks like a cheap 3d game render, and all in all it is not very eye appealing.

very very nice, loving the upper half, but theres no focal point, and like you side the rock

thanks to Etexbleu for the sig

Chop off the bottom 500-ish pixels and you have yourself a pretty nice scene.

Yeah, it looks pretty CG, but for the program you are using it's not unexpected.

Definitely could use a focal point though.... how about a bug on that foreground leaf?

You got the variation of vegetation just right. great job. also, i love the misty atmo in the top left. great job as always. btw...that pic that drum ripped, i went to that guys dev art page. he had combined a terragen and a photoshop space scene. i believe it was called 'Ashley's First Alignment'......i think you should try something like this if you ahvent already. i relaly love how it turned out for him. and maybe incorporate some of the trees into it like this.
