madchild Posted April 10, 2005 Share Posted April 10, 2005 There doesn't seem to be a thread about coldplay, although there are many people saying how great they are on different threads. Coldplay are my favorite band, because their music is... magical i suppose you could say. One of my freinds once described their music as emotion prokoving, which makes sense. Chris Martin is my idol as he is amazing on the piano, and i think the work he does for charities like make trade fair is really great. well they all do charity work but oh well. I can play clocks and the scientist on piano, and im working on trouble and amsterdam. im also working on yellow on guitar. im also going to see them in june! So what do you guys think of coldplay? :wink: battypenguin - just like chris martin, except i cant sing and im not in the biggest band in the world and im not married and i dont have a kid 8) Retired from Runescape and the OoC. Hey wait why not just have a whole board for what do you think of this band threads. Sorry to be bitter but this is the 4th post on a what do you think of this band. It's not a going to be a good thread people arn't going to get into discussion and all it's gonna do is start people creating more what to do you of this band threads. So please no more band threads! I don't know about other people, but music that makes me feel down and depressed is nothing I want to listen to. Of course they're rated highly by critics though, since when has good music ever been liked by critics? edit just for evilperson :roll: : I hate rap with a passion. Not to mention they're one of the best live bands ever. Besides, I'm not the only one who likes Coldplay now, that's pretty cool since it used to be like... me vs. the rest of the world and now it's me and some people.. vs. the rest of the world. :D Threads like this make me... full of energy and stuff. :| Oh and CJ, shut up. :) OH AND: hate em. they're far too normal and depressing for my musical taste. Meesy Posted April 10, 2005 Share Posted April 10, 2005 On demand of How-to-pee-kay (who wanted to know more about the music and "some funny facts"): The band formed when all 4 of them were still in College (London) and was first called "Starfish" (:P), finally after some recording they came with their first EP; Safety. Just before this they decided to name their band different, so Coldplay was born. The name comes from a poetry-collection-book-thing (poÃÆÃâÃâëziebundel in dutch). Anyway after this limited EP, of which only are like 400 made (that's the same as an Enzo Ferrari! AND I OWN ONE! :D) Anywaaaay, after this there came their first single (1998): Brothers and Sisters. From here it went crazily fast, a second EP (Safety) and a third one (The Blue room) and finally in 2000 they got their first album (Parachutes). Btw, did you know among their fans are the following: Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Al & Tipper Gore, Jack Nicholson, Winona Ryder, Sylvester Stallone, Kirsten Dunst, Tobey Maguire, Keri Russell, Elijiah Wood, Daphne Zuniga, Jennifer Love Hewitt... Just to name a few. ;) After touring for a year straight they started on their second album which they said was going to be a lot different, but still Coldplay. With this album (A Rush Of Blood To The Head, a.k.a AROBTTH by fans ;)) they CONQUERED THE WORLD. With pop-aimed songs as Clocks and The Scientist they got number 1 hits all around the world. Nevertheless, these songs aren't the only ones on the album, and in my opinion really not the best songs at all. After this, the awards started to get more and more; Brit-awards, NME's, Grammy's, MTV awards, Q-Awards, Music awards.. You name it! In total they won (so far): - 4 Brit-awards. - 3 NME awards. - 6 Mtv Video Music awards. - 3 Music awards. - 6 Grammy's. - 4 Q-award. - 1 Ivor Novello award. - 1 Silver Clef. Most of them were either "Best band", "best album", "best songwriter" and "best live act", which are basicly what's it all about. :P Oh and, did you know Chris Martin was named the 4th most inspirating songwriter ever? :) Member of #darkwebz.
