My bike is fixed :)

those of you who are in lightning chat regularly, know me and my friend recently had a motorbike accident.

long story short, we were driving down the road (on separate bikes). perfectly visible in full biking gear, and i had my lights on mid beam, so nobody could miss me.

as we were coming up to a junction near my town, some noob in a car pulled out infront of us. so we both hit the car at 40pmh.

i luckliy hit the bonnet of the car at an angle, so my bike rebounded of it, and i went over the bonnet and slid 20 meters up the road (thankgod for biking gear + helmets, without them there would be no skin on my arms, legs, hands and face now). all that happened was minor bruising on me. and my helmet smashed up a bit, but my bike needed new bodywork, mirrors and a shock was bent.

unluckily, my friend got it bad. he hit the side of the car, the back passenger door, thus, he had nowhere to rebound or go over. its like hitting an aliminium wall at 40mph. his bike hit and parts went everywhere, and his bike compacted (front wheel bent in, shocks split, engine casing cracked) and he got lodged between the car, his bike and had his head under the car. His bike is an instant write off due to it being wrecked. and he was rushed to hospital as he shattered his ankle and crushed his foot, the doctors originally thought he would lose his foot, but now apparently, it will be fine and he can be riding in 6 months or so.

finally, insurance = win, due to witnesses and none of my fault. my bike got fully covered for repair, and the spare ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã120 i had left i used on new sticker kit for my bike, a fancy speedo and some snazzy caps (lol).

heres the bike now (taken on a camera phone :D), and it loooks good as new, as it has been waxed :):

and heres the custom speedo (digital and has blue led's when on), the custom caps are those blue things on the top of the shocks :):

Im happy with the damage my bike did. it ripped their bumper of, dented their wing and broke their lights.

will cost them over ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã700 to repair, serves them for pulling out wrong.

Lol, happy with a type of revenge much? But, nice bike in the pics.

yes, i am happy with revenge.

you hit a car at 40pmh, fly over the bonnet for about 10m, then slide up the road. i would want revenge for the scariest thing in my life. whilst i was going through the air, it was like slo-mo (if youve ever been in an accident or dangerous event, youll know what i mean, its something to do with adrenalin) and i was there thinking, "ohsht, im gona break something bad, osht osht osht"

Very nice bike. On the upside of the accident, it looks practically new now. :P

Sorry about your friend, and I'm glad you two are generally fine. It just goes to show that protective padding really does help.

Does your friend's insurance cover his bike, or is he going to have to pay for a new one?

Is your friend going to sue the driver of the car? that sounds like a textbook negligence case. All I can say to you is that it was VERY smart to wear proper padding. Without a helmet or the padding, you could have easily gotten killed.

they should both sue the testicles off this driver, though I'm not sure if he has a very good case. His friend certainly does, though.

nawh. were not taking it into court. alls fine between us, and the driver is paying for the bike my friend is gonna buy through me, its unnoficial compensation, now law involved.

partially due to, our bikes will have to be scrutinised. both of them, even if only one of us sued. and i dont have a full motorbike licence, only a medium one (im not 21 yet). and my bike has several illegal aftermarket parts on that wouldnt let me have any stance in court (race exhaust/can. big bore addon to the carburettor, larger mainjet in the carb, small piston halve washers etc), and im not allowed these parts on my current license.

Yes, I know that feeling... *thinks of experience with go-kart toppling after going over a jump at a friends house for his dirt bike as I roll almost into the pond.*

Me too *thinks of falling off street bike on gravel-covered hill ( #-o ) and breaking left arm*. Compression fracture ftw. Like crunching a coke can, didn;t hurt much and healed quickly, but while I was falling..and sliding...i thought something along the lines of, "OH #$#@!!!!", also remembering when my neighbor broke her leg and all the pain she was in.

Well, you got more lucky than the guy i saw. Going he i saw a car crash-motorbike crushed in cars rear. It happened right in front of (uh idk the word) place, where peds cross the road-those white stripes on road. Car's rear was crushed, and you can only imagine what was left of motorbike :( . The driver was treated first aid, and was waiting for ambulance. Personaly i think, that somebody crosed road, car braked, and motorbike didnt brake fast enough

Loving the bike.

But seriously i just went to a presentation with my school on tuesday about dangerous driving, the film was very graphical. They had people who had experianced serious crashes there to share there experiance with us.

You had it good. You could easy have lost a leg or similar. Not a nice thought.
