Instead of spinning kick, it could just be "spin". Spin around with your weapon and hit all enemies around you :P

Spin really fast, and the effect like with a helicopter will tele you away :D

Rangers received a crystal bow which has pros and cons.
Not only did meleers receive a crystal shield at the same time, but no one pk's with such items. Bows are too slow and only hit slightly better then rune. They even cost 900k so they're way not worth pking with. Same goes if you pay 180k for it. They're too damn slow and they hardly hit any better then rune.

One magic shortbow = 2k.

100-200 rune arrows (for pking with) = 40-80k.

One crystal bow = 180-900k.

Worth pking with? No. They're for fun and if you're that desperate, training.

Btw, vmser....

I see that with the new quest magers get a whole new set of spells, ancient magics. I think melee, the most popular skill in RS, should also get a whole new set of attacks!

Right now attacks are all based on which weapon you equip but how about some melee attacks based on your melee stats? Let's say have some new quest and you learn "ancient fighting arts."

Just some examples, I'm sure you can think of better ones.

80 def: Drain energy - takes your enemy's energy and transfers it to you

80 att: Spinning kick - attacks all nearest enemies

90 att: Breaking point - weakens enemy's armour (slightly only lol)

90 def: Spiritual defense - added def when being multi'ed, includes def against mage and range

all 99 stats: Irresistible force - negates melee prot prayer (hahahaha)

These effects are all in addition to the melee damage done and are random and automatic whenever you fight.

IMHO better melee stats should also have an advantage, not just better weapons.

No range is the ones that need new things

I very much agree, I think there should be lots of new specials added at every 2 attack levels/strength levels.

Yes. Mages get new goodies to use every few levels, melee deserves the same. They shouldn't be hugely overpowered things that would kill everything in sight, but some small but useful ways of rewarding levels would be good.

I agree with this part, but martial arts? can u say lag? Plus i'd like to see you make something that complicated lol.

Haha, I looked at this the other day and wanted to resurect it, but didn't wanna get flamed. I too like the idea, to a point. I mean, leave out the Jet Lee and Chuck Norris type kicks and flips, and it could be pretty cool.

From my vantage point, p2p combat triangle is pretty evened out. It's the f2p one that's in dire need of modification. And the main reason why melee is so popular is that you don't need to waste money on ammo and such. It also hits a good deal harder ;)
