Mr_Putter
Introduction The birth of the modern FPS is usually attributed to Doom, or to a lesser extent Wolfenstein 3D. Other First-Person Shooters at the time were labeled ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅDoom Clones̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà
BlueLancer
This game reminds me a lot of the dos-based Wolfenstein I played as a kid, except with improved level design. Downloading it now :)
Necromagus
XERXES and The Many vs. SHODAN was definiately one of the creepiest rivalries I've ever observed... Bubsa
Can't beat that price :) I have to admit, I had heard this not. Will give it a download and experience the original FPS ^_^ This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
Nadril
Good post mate. :P I played a bit out of system shock 2 (demo) but never got a chance to play through it. I'll have to check out the first of course. :)
Lionheart_0
:? Dunno if its just me, but i downloaded the patch files for my version (on windows 98), and its still not working. I get to the screen in the dos window which tells you that you can run the game and such, but i cant do anything. There is some sort of infinite loop running that wont allow me to input numbers. indy500fan
I absolutely loved Deus Ex, and I've heard of this game before, but I didn't realize it was abandonware. Otherwise I would have already been playing it :D .
nine naked men
System Shock 2 was awesome. It was the only one I played. I might download number 1 when I have the chance. Man, that was an creepy game. It had a great atmosphere, I wonder if anyone's thinking of redoing it with better graphics, or putting out a sequel. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
Mr_Putter
^ Someone made this mod called System Shock: Rebirth. It upgrades the most of the major models in SS2. I found out about this after I played it and went on a forum to complain that the character models were terrible. So I haven't actually used this, but based on screenshots I've seen it looks significantly better.
Necromagus
I have a version of System Shock 2 that's a single 400+ MB file that contains the entire game, including some of the most popular patches and mods. It runs perfectly on Windows XP. jjrox32
I'm definitely planning on going through both System Shock games after I complete all the half life games. After watching the Zero Punctuation review of Bioshock, I basically learned that SS2 is a better version of Bioshock. And Bioshock kicked [wagon].
