A rollback/reset? :o

Featured Replies

The idea that they are trying to control the economy has yet to be proven

Um, they said themselves that they are trying to control it. "Stabilize" is just one form of control.

I'd rather have Jagex bring stability to an unstable economy rather then let a bunch of loners continue to manipulate certain areas of the unstable economy.

If you want to define what Jagex is doing as controlling. What do you classify the price manipulators as? Exactly... You people try way to hard to come up with conspiracies.

yes, and the drama queen threads get old

They probably don't want 06/06/06 again... :XD:

06/06/06 was probably the closest we ever came to rollback. However they were not prepared to implemnt the roll back for something lkike 4-7 hours (maybe only 2) after the incedent ended. A roll back of more than 30 minutes to an hour would have dire consequences for to many people. Even a 5 minute roll back at that time might have cost a staker an entire phat set (not a prblem anymore -.- ). A full blown complete roll back...99.99%of members would quit on the spot. Any f2p'er with at least 6 months time playing would probably quit too. And the ruined repretation would hinder game gowth. They couldnt do it, theyed just have to discontinue the game.

You don't understand what a rollback is.

Every day (well, actually a few times a day) they save the progress of every character. A rollback means that everyone gets put back to their last saved point. They'd never reset all the accounts, but they have done rollbacks several times.

It gets saved every time you log out, I believe.

I feel sorry for that game...

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

It actually was 06/07/06 but i get what your saying.

a rewind in-game has happened before, but doing a large scale one, especially for something not extremely huge would not be great.

I say, if its necessary, then do it.

If you read it well, it says because of the desastrous economy they did the reset.

In my humble opinion the economy is kinda screwed up

Well, go ahead and tell us the proof behind that "humble opinion" of yours. I'm eager to hear it.

could you please stay calm, this sounds a little offensive :uhh:

anyway, the economy of RS is divided in three classes: Poor (0-1m) Not-so-poor (1m-10m) and rich (30m+).

See the difference? It is what makes the economy unstable. Prices continuely fluctuate, and that's a good thing. But not if they change big time. Get the idea?

oh, and the stake limit! That's a measure too :P

The staking limit was to stop real-world trading, not control the economy #-o . Way to miss the point

Have you got any proof? :XD:

06/06/06 was probably the closest we ever came to rollback.

This is somewhat off topic, but I was retired on 6/6/06 *points to siggy*. What exactly happened :anxious: ?

06/06/06 was probably the closest we ever came to rollback.

POH glitch where people could kill others outside of wild.

Also, it happend 6-6-06 qne 6-7-06, depends where you live, if i remember right...

Something enourmous would need to happen for a rollback to take place.

And even in that case, it is possible Jagex stores "checkpoint" data of the levels of all players every once in a while, though they're probably too cheap for that. In the case they do, then the rollback would only be that of a certain period of time, not a whole whipe.

Though it would be interesting to start all over. Everyone lvl 3 :XD:

I really doubt that Jagex will do a reset on RS. Everyone has a massive amount of time invested in the game, and a reset would likely drive most players away.

That's why Jagex are releasing new games such as Mechscape. The idea that players starting that game will all start on a level playing field.

In June 2002 Jagex ran a beta server to test their new database back-end (linked to their new customer support system), and on that everyone had to create new accounts and start from scratch. It was fun, but I doubt such a thing will be repeated.
