Skill_Caster
Hello everyone! I'm sorry, I'll promise this is the last Xbox 360 question topic I'll make #-o . At the moment I still need to buy a 100ft ethernet cable to hook up my 360. I need to purchase it tonight, so it can arrive by this weekend (I can't run it through and set it up the weekend right before Christmas, as I'm going on a trip). So, without further comments ("0mg nub u by from ebaz"), I need to know if this cable will work, and if it's fast enough to host games and the like (if it helps, I have Road Runner so my internet connection is fine.). It will be plugged into the back of a Linksys WRT54G router. This is the cable: 100ft Ethernet Cable (http://cgi.ebay.com/_W0QQitemZ360002551 ... dZViewItem) Thank you so much! It's a cable, it's fine. The cable is [almost] never a limiting factor in internet speed. For example, your internet is no more than 10mb/s and the cable can go up to 1000mb/s. Skill_Caster
For those who said this would work, I just looked at the category it's in and it's a Patch cable. Isn't this the type that won't work?

And also, can anyone please help to tell me if since it's a patch cable it won't work?

blade995
you will need a crossover cable, i dont think patch will work Those are both the same thing. As for the OP's question, no, you can't use a patch cable, which the action says it's a network cable (and the description points to it). Maybe the seller put it in the wrong category. 100 feet cable? It will work but you can say bye to low ping. 1 network cable is not going to slow down your network much at all (maybe 5ms max). Most of the lag comes from your ISP's network and how your packets get routed (if your a non techie, don't worry about it, 100ft is fine).
Skill_Caster
couldnt you just get a wireless connector? anyways it'll work just fine Yea, but I certainly don't want to invest $100 in that tiny little thing when I can just buy a 20$ cable that's always connected. Wait, am i missing something? Why not just go to a store and buy this? No local store carries any cables over 50ft. So, should I buy the cable or not?
