December 27, 200718 yr Well, on some habbo hotel forums I've visited lately have a thing called premium. Its like 5 dollars for it. You get a special avatar-bar (ex. Tip.It mods avatar), the ability to make your own under-name-saying, to make your name different colors, and all kinds of other stuff! Its basically like a runescape membership, but for forums! Just thought I should put this up just incase ;) - 60,023rd to 99 Firemaking on April 29th, 2012 -- 15,152nd to 99 agility on August 21st, 2011 -- 30,569th to 99 Prayer on June 26th, 2011 -- 22,646th to 99 Hunter on Jan 9th, 2011 -1993 Miata; sold - 2001 E46 330i; "totaled" - 2001 E46 325iT; Bags and wheels ;)
December 27, 200718 yr Short answer: no Long answer: No. Subscriptions on a forum are tedius, at best, to setup and done wrong can really screw the users over.
December 27, 200718 yr It is a way to make money if needed, so why dismiss it in such a poorly way? I'm pretty sure Tip.It could get the procedures, and everything set up so it's very minimal of a hassle to the user. It's just I don't think Tip.It is wanting to expand and get third-party sites involved.
December 27, 200718 yr You miss the point skatedog, to make it effective (and worth the money) the user has to pay for basic forum functionality and to be perfectly honest, this community isn't big enough to justify taking that step in the first place. For the sake of having a custom rank and rank image, I'd don't know many people who would pay anything more than a once-off fee. And it would have to be bloody cheap at that. re-occuring subscrptions require more insentive than that.. and that's when someone has to make a choice as to what basic forum functionality non-paying users can't have.... which they already have. And that there is the biggest problem.
December 27, 200718 yr Sure it is a way to make money, but I feel the Tip It Community would start to fall apart. People feeling they are better than others because they wasted $10 to get a colorful name? :| I just don't see the point in paying for a forum that is already so friendly.... :?

Who wants to kill a community as good as Tip.It's? I DON'T!!! ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
December 27, 200718 yr No. But that reminds me. Can a mod organize another TIF rank contest please? In the not to distant future...? What he said. :D And I'll be damned if I'm paying anything for a forum. Even if it's cheap. For maintenance or for something like that, probably, but not for something as pointless as that.
December 27, 200718 yr I remember this being brought up a while ago, and it was definite no by many people, including some admins. December 27, 200718 yr No. But that reminds me. Can a mod organize another TIF rank contest please? In the not to distant future...? What he said. :D Yeah, the last one was won by look_its_rob I think, and that was a long time ago now. Do a new one! And I wouldn't introduce any kind of payment to these forums. I like our community as it is. If any brand new chicken feather could come in and buy better priveleges than the rest of us, we would have a hell of a time with him lording it over us. That goes for established users as well.
December 27, 200718 yr I'll see if I can get a new rank contest up and running :D As for the premium idea, I pretty much agree with the above posters. I'm sure it would only separate our users, similar to how F2P and P2P RuneScape members are separated. Soon premium users would want more features and if we gave it to them, the "regular" users would feel neglected. It just makes things too complicated and isn't good for community building. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
