I can't do cat part on recipe for disaster because I don't want to wait 4 hours for a cat to grow? does this mean i got to quit this game now because i hate quests and would rather stick a knive in my self then raise a cat for 4 hours.

99s are super easy to get but raising a cat requires more then being non lazy. plus its somthing i dont want to do for a skill. does anyone know if you really can catch the hell rats with regular kitten?

Yes, you can catch them. However, in the time it takes to get it with the kitten, it will probably have turned into a cat. (Trust me, I did it. It took about 5 hours with the kitten)
