I've lost my inspiration....

ThruItAll

Recommended Posts

You may have noticed I haven't posted much in the gallery. Thats because:

Nearly everything I make is horrible, I can't seem to make anything good.

I can't think of any good ideas at all, and my shop orders all turn out horrible... I've tried some tutorials, but most cost me PR points on PR, but, the free ones I try; my outcome just suck. I want really to get back into this... Got any tips for me how to get back into signature making?

Recommend a render? Challenge me to a battle? But I really need help.

If this should be somewhere else. Just tell me.

I usually look at the inspiration thread on PR. Good place where ideas flow, you should check it out. I suggest experimenting around with different techniques. I discovered some new abilities when I did. Like when I was testing out smudging, airbrushing, pentooling and just renderless sigs. I'd suggest you to fool around with smudging, just to start things off. I can't show you any tutorials on it though because smudging can't be taught, it only comes natural.

Try something new. Instead of making the same old grunge/abstract sigs, try your hand at drawing, painting, modeling, etc. :)

Someone beat me to it >_<.

But yeah, try something new. Whenever I get bored at abstracts I'll give my go at landscapes for a while, or space scenes or something like that.

Expand your outlook basically.

Digital painting is a pain to learn, but when you get hang of it, it gets easier.

ConceptArt is a very nice place, but their criticism is harsh. Trust me. :P

You can also look around on DeviantART for inspiration, just don't rip.

And http://www.imaginefx.com is a nice magazine, cost around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5,99, much inspiration, tips, tutorials, workshops and stuff.

But I hope you got a tablet, preferably a Wacom one, if not, you can get their Bamboo range, that is cheap, and good for starters.

You don't even need to leave your house.

Look out of your window. Take in the cityscape. A lot of people think only natural places are beautiful, but cities can be just as magnificent.

Appreciate the effort that took to build all the buildings, look at the architecture etc. Then let your mind wander, start to think what things would look like if they were blown up or derelict. Start to imagine what an alien version of your view would be. Just go crazy, there's no limit. You don't necessarily need to go anywhere for inspiration.
