Granted it doesn't have much to do with the actual album... then again I wasn't aiming for that. I call this a WIP 1) because I'm tierd and won't work on it anymore at this exact moment but will tomorrow 2) because I'm hoping to get some good ideas from someone on here for it :P.

I like the third one best, definately has a cool feel to it. Maybe some water on the right side, with the grass being the shore of it would be a good addition. You should also make it so that there is some sort of light being shined by the moon.

Composition and balance is way off. Stay away from round objects in corners. It's too common and childish. Has potential, though.

I don't know if it would help, but try just drawing a thing of the rule of thirds on there. Just place the moon at one of the intersections, it might be better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I know i've tried it sometimes with things... mostly bigger works though, so i don't know if it will do well with a small signature.

Keiph, what do you suggest I do with the moon if not put it in the corner? I don't intend on resizing it anymore (at least smaller) and it can't easily be placed anywhere else without taking up the majority of the composition. Zack makes a good point with the rule of thirds (aint hard to tell *he* read Alyns neb guide all the way through :roll: ) but, in a sig at the size we're limited to, it almost holds no potential other than to crowd things. Not to mention, in my experience, the rule of thirds typically works better with dimensions with the height being larger than the width.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As for it being childish.... I don't think I can quite agree with that :P. I know the balance is off too, I intended it this way. I don't have a particular reason for it to be unbalanced, but I knew it would be and decided to leave it.

The rule of thirds is something generally associated with animation and composition of interest and action. However, it can be applied to static images. But not that signature. The dimensions are far too elongated for that rule to apply. Instead you have to rely on any sense of design that you have. As I've said before, what is the first thing a preschooler does when you give him a yellow crayon and a piece of paper? He puts a big yellow sun in the corner. That's why I said it's childish. You don't seem too open to criticism so I won't give much more. But hopefully I have clarified the intention of my comments.

I might be whining or w/e you want to call it, and please don't get me wrong(!), I like the signatures (I couldn't do any better, simpley because I don't understand those complicated programs). But they don't have much to do with the Pink Floyd album as you, already, said btw. But if you make a theme signature, the purpose is (for example) to ehm, catch the right emotion in the signature, the emotion you get with the album, and some kind of recognizable effect to it, so others can see from what it's 'directed'/'adapted'. I'll try to be more simple, if the album title and artist wouldn't have been on the signature, I woudln't know it was an album theme signature. The album represents far more then a moon, a tree and sky. So for me you just used the title of the album, instead of the actuel album. I really like the signatures, and I think you succeded in making good looking signatures, though I think you failed with the Pink Floyd touch.

Eeek hope ya didn't get me wrong Keiph, I'm open to critism totally, I just didn't really agree with ya. It is rather childish of a preschooler to do what you mentioned... but a papers dimensions leave for many other options, a sigs doesn't leave for much.
