Well the emulator version of it would probably go around a little after its release.

  • 2 weeks later...

Gamestop is giving out FREE JIRACHIS. Just like the free Pichu event, just bring your DS with Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum and recieve a mystery gift. Also like the Pichus, Jirachi will unlock a special event in HG and SS.

The giveaway end on the 13th, the day before HG's and SS's release.

Am I the only one really angry at replacing Kris for Kotone in HG/SS?

I guess it's because Crystal was my first & favourite game that I got attached to Kris... but Kotone just looks stupid to me :( I'll not care in the long run but in the wait to get SS at the end of the month (UK fail), it's just going to annoy me :(

I'm excited to see my favourite generation remade though, if they keep it close to the originals it's going to be wonderful :)

Too bad you can get the Dynamicpunch TM anymore :(

No Guard + Dynamicpunch Machamp would've made the game ridiculously easy.

On the new Jirachi, I don't really see the point. I'm not a huge fan of Jirachi since there are better choice pokemon and better support pokemon out there.

so theres a science involved in pokemon battles...?

You could just play, but competitively, there's a huge amount of strategy and planning involved.

Personally, I prefer Generation 1. But I do agree that if HG/SS are close to G/S they will be great.

As for strategy and planning ahead, I don't need it much since I don't play vs people.

I remember playing Necromagus once and he completely pulverised me. I've never played competitively so my strategy is generally - hit the pokemon before they hit you and use pokemon with their type weakness. Other than that, I have no strategy :D

That sounds like my strategy, as well. Hit first and hope for a 1 hit KO. But like I said, I don't play competitively, just play through the game. When I finish that, I do other tasks I haven't completed yet. If I get too bored, I start again.

I got myself a Jirachi yesterday. Probably will add it to my SS team.

it's good because it knows draco meteor, also good because i needed one more pokemon for my SS team before the game comes out on sunday. So win win for me :D

Anyone know what starter they'll choose for the new games. I'm choosing cyndaquil because in my Crystal verison first run that was my starter *mutters about not having a guide or knowing where the hidden thing in cerulean gym is, and loss of lv 100 Granbull*

Cyndaquil for me, since Typhlosion is so BA. Also my first starter for any pokemon games I've played (I always choose fire).

Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne.

Never forget. ~creeper face w/single tear~

DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?!?!

Probably Chikorita or Totodile. Totodile especially as it got a big upgrade with the physical/special split...

But Chikorita was my first pick when Gold came out, so that would be good for nostalgia/challenge's sake.

It helps that Geodude is godlike at all the points where Chikorita isn't, too...

Now if only Morty's team didn't have levitate as an ability again...

Totodile. It was what I picked when I first played gold version and water type starters are the best save for Mudkip.

I don't use fire types. I'll usually have a normal type with a fire attack or something that can beat the same things fire can. (Poison > Grass, Fighting > Ice, etc.)

And look at what I found:

=D> I can't wait to see the other animations.

Fire is best at the beginning. It's the least weak to opening pokemon, and it has the least good subsitiutes. If you look at the best fire types, they're all either starters, legendary, rare, or not available in the beginning. However, all the grass and water types aren't too fantastic and they all have good substitutes. The only two that are any good are Empoleon (which Kingdra beats in the role of attacker and there are better steels for the role of defender) and Swampert (and there are better tanks out there, like Blissey, Skarmory, or Bronzong). Feraligatr isn't really that great, especcailly since Gyarados, which is practically guaranteed in GSC/HGSS, beats it in all types of physical attacker, and almost every other water type beats it as a special attack (for example Starmie). Grass is just way too weak for its own good. The only real use is support, and none of the starter grass types are very good at it.
