Thought Jagex didn't like 3rd party things?

Featured Replies

Appears they're using JOGL (a 3rd party graphics engine). What are your thoughts on this?

  • Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.
  • Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.

i never thought that they were going to be able to do everything in-house. i expected it and it doesn't stop it from being FREAKING SWEET.

They don't like you using third party clients to help you in game. If they trust one, that's a different thing. Besides, because they put it in, it's technically still first party.

don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?

They did state that they were going to have all the features load directly off your computer rather than have them download with the game on the internet.

How did you expect them to accomplish this? I mean Jagex may be good at Java programming, but their Andrew isn't God, he can't create EVERYTHING that Runescape needs.

I believe it's considered second party if it is put into the game by Jagex, but another company developed it.

Either way, it's still not third party

Beat me to it ^

yes this is second party software. They liscenced it to Jagex to use in their software. 3rd party would be using software that has nothing to do with, and is therefore unapproved, by Jagex. First party is stuff exclusively designed and made by Jagex.

If you want to go that far, than Windows/Mac OS/Linux should be "third party software" as well. #-o

1) JOGL, as I'm sure you're aware, is a wrapper class for Java to use OpenGL.

2) How else were they going to create such awesome graphics? [if the code's written once, never write it again.]

Thanks to Uno for the awsome sig <3

Umm... so what? No offense, but there's a huge difference between players using 3rd party programs, often with malware, and a programming language. Technically Java is a "3rd party program", although not on the same scale as JOGL. Still, I'm having a hard time seeing the discussion value... #-o
