The new better detail that jagex just added is terrible, it makes your pc lagg so much! Honestly i couldn't care less about the graphics just as long as they aren't that bad. The old grahpics were good and your pc could handle it! So i don't understand why jagex made the grahpics better, your pc laggs it, can't handle it. (unless you have a new pc which the majority of people playing runescape dont). :x

 

 

 

It took me 10 minutes just to get to the login screen, then another 5 minutes because my screen was black, for it to come up with my player!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think they should have a button which gives you the old graphics so you can choose which detail you want.

Indeed. I guess I'm lucky, my Mac runs those graphics without even really trying to run them. Smooth as butter. Just make sure you have the right RAM/Graphics card, etc. and it should work fine. If that doesn't work, relax and play another game, like Oblivion or a game you like, wait it out until your PC can handle it.

Try updating your graphics card. It helped with my lag. Also try being patient, the lag isn't permanent. Rs is full of new bugs and glitches right now, and it's slowing things down. I'm sure Jagex is working hard to sort things out, just give it some time.

It's deffinetly going to take me time to get used to the new graphix and webpage, without a doubt. I'm all the way with a 3 button option: 1.New Graphic Low Detail 2.New Graphic High Detail(fullscreen) 3.Old Graphic Detail.

 

 

 

I knew they were going to make a HUGE graphic update but I had no idea it was going to be this drastic. I mean a new webpage too? I loved the Old Webpage. Thought it was nearly perfect...

 

 

 

EDIT:Although I do feel kind of bad for JAGeX becuase 1 month their begging and ranting about how much they want a change in graphix then the next day when they get it, a majority has to rant about how ucky it is.

I understand your problems, and for me, its even lagging on "Low Detail". I originally thought they were gonna keep the old graphics and add this HD as another choice, but they just had to change the old, real Low Detail as well :(

Don't get all bent out of shape, just wait a few days. There's many problems to be fixed, and I'm sure they're not ignorant to that.

While thing will surely get smoothed out a bit within the next few days, I can't help but worry that Jagex has gotten ahead of themselves a bit. Part of Runescape's appeal is the ability to just jump on from almost any computer and play. The inclusion of system-hindering graphics aren't exactly something to get excited about, this may have serious detrimental impact.

JaGex is trying to compete with other companies by upping their graphics 'cause nowadays, graphics are important, because kids have no lives...And want to play a game thats so authentic that it's almost liker eal life. Anyway, excuse my tangent. They're upping their graphics to get graphics obsessed players or people that like graphics. If they can't run it, upgrade the computer. If you can't do that, oh freakin' well. But the point is you don't have to play it on this detail.

Okay, let's shake hands and agree! (No seriously, I do agree)...Yup. They are certainly good for RuneScape standards. All we need now is the ability to see through 1st person view. Which will never happen. And if it does, then I'm officially a psychic :lol:.

Apparently looking at the multiple development diaries and screenshots jagex released was too daunting a task for you. =D>

Your computer must not be very good. It's not Jagex's fault. The reqs are extremely low. I can run the max detail on full screen at the GE and have no lag at all. And the computer isn't even that good. It's not Jagex's fault.

Wanna fix the lag? Go on the RuneScape Main Page, find "Play Now" towards the top and roll your mouse over it. Select Java options, and change it to either of the unsigned Java applets. BOOM, no more lag, fixed it right up for me :) . Don't play on the High Detail version if you can't handle keeping your complaints to yourself.

And I dont lag at all. Even my 5 year old computer dosen't mind. And well graphics dont change the game itself, there is an atmosphere to the new graphics that will always be there and makes grinding just a bit more enjoyable. This will be a great thing even after the novelty wears off.

Yeah theres lag and bugs but thats because it's only been out for a day. Give it a week or so and it'll run perfectly. Remember this is just the Beta and there are bound to be problems.

I can't give you a picture with a circle, etc. because I don't have photoshop, but I do know that the old details button is at the login screen. Press existing user, go to "Runescape," get to the login screen...Oh, nevermind. I just checked, it appears everything is in high detail automatically...

I'ld love to know how you can play a game that isn't out for another 60+ days and hasn't been pre'd by any release groups. Also have you tried upgrading to the latest build of java?
