While it could make things very confusing, I think we should be allowed to change our names. The thing is, I don't really like my name anymore. When I made my account, it just had more significance for me. Now, it's a burden to carry such an odd name. I know many people feel this way, especially those who foolishly chose to put 123456789 at the end of their name. I think we should be allowed to change, but with restrictions. Like once you change your name, you have to wait x amount of days before being able to change it again (Like on eBay). Who's with me that we should be able to change our names?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

P.S. If their actually is some sort of name changing form that I have completely missed, please point me in the right direction.

You didn't think about friends lists and high scores. You would have to ask people who they are, becuase new names would come to your friends list. And imagine when Zezima would change his name. Imagine the confusion.

Yeah but they could do it like eBay where you have to wait like 30 days before you could change it again. I know it would get confusing, It's just that I hate my name. :cry:

This wouldn't work for the simple fact that your user name is also you characters name. It would take way to much effort to be able to do this considering it is trvial matter to begin with.

What if friend lists updated name changes automatically? Same for high scores... And your friends could even receive a notification when you change your character's name. (XXX123456789 has changed his name to XXX.)

Good idea, but you would have to implement the whole mailing people on you pm list to inform them of the name change. Maybe if you searched for them on the hi-scores it should say what they were foremally known as.

The only thing that you can do is create a new character and choose a new name that you'll like better down the road. Yeah, it sucks to have to start over from scratch, but that's how it goes sometimes.

lol...making a new account? for those who have a good account and its pretty good account, like me i got one account and its lvl 84 combat(member) i started a new account, and i quit it in a day, i got killed by a lvl 5 goblin lol, :lol:

I saw someone who showed a letter from jagex saying they're name was bad and they were banned. But they also said they might bring a thing to change names? I dunno if it was a fake or anything though... 8)

i like the idea coz i dont like my rs name (red serpent4) and i think its a possibility. i dunno how it works but i mailed jagex and they said they were working on a way to do it

i do agree that we should be given the chance to change are names, but i think it should be a single chance.. maby, once u have over 1k total lvl. And id also say it should only be a member thing.

I, personally, dont think you should be able to change your name, but if you could, then it should be done by the makeover mage (or the Name Gnome, if its members [i like the way that sounds]) and you can do it once, and it costs 200k, or u cna do it anytime and it costs like 1 mil, or sumthing like that

personally i would like to put a space between my name it annoys me when peeps call me benty. heres a idea when u change it on ur friends list it would have a selection to check out ur old names like ben tyrrell formally known as bentyrrell

I think you should be allowed to change your name,but as someone has already said it should only be a one off,anymore than that and the only regular users would be scammers or those cheaters who use micro's.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When rs2 was in beta,quite a few members were posting on jagex's own forum asking for a name change,they like myself started typing in names for their character,only for it to say that the name had been taken,hence i just started typing in any old rubbish just to get into the game.I didnt know anyone who played rs before i joined that could have told me that once you've chosen your name you couldnt change it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If jagex allowed name changes,then if you dont already have a second character you could create one with the look and name you want,on jagex's secure login which could be linked to your ip add,telephone number and email address rather than a character, it could then tell you what chars you own and give you the option of deleting any of them,so if you have a lvl 98 and a lvl 23 you could delete the higher lvl and its skills would be passed on to the lower lvl,no combining of skills... just a straight swap then the only thing to change on the high scores would be the name,nothing else!!

 

 

 

By having to have a second char for the name change to work,it would give you time to contact everyone on your friends list and tell them of your name change,and be able to give them the name of your new character.

How about that there would be a npc that can change your name but at a large cost of gp. This way only high levels who really wanted to change their name, could change their name.
