SomeWelshGuy
Hey, Anyone installed the MSN Plus program (http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/msgpluslive.net. That test was automated and installed the optional ad-ware program that is inside the install which is unsafe, so it's not a 100% "fair" test. Anyone know? Retired Tip.It Crew Mapper. Sbrideau
Yeah, I have also heard that one of the optional things in there is a virus, but let's see I guess.
MageUK
I've been using Messenger Plus! Live since it came out and Messenger Plus before that (pre-Windows Live Messenger). I'd personally say it was safe although I can't endorse it directly of course. ;) I believe it asks if you want to install a toolbar to support it, but it's optional, you can choose NOT to give your support and hence not install it. eggzs
The core program itself is safe but do not install the sponsor programs
____
Like others have said you can opt out of installing the sponser software. I've had Plus! for almost as long as it's been in existance. And to be fair, the sponsor program isn't a massive pain in the arse if you accidentally install it, like I have before, every program capable of removing such stuff will find and move it for you. JoeDaStudd
Like about everyone has said always be wary of third party add-ons. Personally I prefer Pidgin (lets me have my AIM, MSN, etc. open at the same time). Dracion1
So long as you don't install the 'advert' bits on your computer you should be fine. Never have liked Plus though. I use emesene personally. Jernlov
From what I know the sponsor that comes with it is linked with the "Lop/Swizzor" adware. Apart from that, it's clean according to my friends. I don't use it myself; it seems to crash Windows Live Messenger for me. Steam | Soup | Last.fm
