Should i stay on controlled or do them seperate?

Featured Replies

I'm at a stage where all 3 of my combat skillls are at the, pretty much, exact same XP's.

Attack 72 901,211

Defence 72 901,079

Strength 72 901,232

ATM, I'm using whip on controlled mode because i want to train all skills up to about 80, all 3. But.. I'm not sure whether it would be better in the long run to train a certain skill to 80 first, (80 Stength so then Attack and defence will be easier to train), or... use controlled so all 3 skills get to 80 at the same time.

I'm doing slayer atm, to train, so what would be easier to get all skills to 80? I don't want to think back twice and make a wrong mistake if i choose to do them individually, as workign them up to the same XP has taken a while.

Thanks people

Just stick with controlled. It might take a little while longer like you said, but you will save the trouble of having to use a different weapon to train strength.

If you have a weapon to train strenth that is better than a dragon scimmy (somthing comperable or better than a whip) then it is actualy faster to do each skill in rotation. The reson is that say you get 81 att, you will now hit more often while you get str and def to 81. The thing is that unless you are willing to spend big bucks, a dragon scimmy would be so much slower at gaining xp than the whip that any benifit or training by rotation would be lost (it would actualy be slower). Unless you are going to by some really expensive item, the whip is going to provide the fastest xp and using something else for strenth will only slow you down. It may take a really long time to get each level, but in the end I think thats about the fastest way to do it.

It's not faster to use controlled, because you'll get faster experience as your attack and strength levels go up. So training attack and strength before defence will end up giving you the desired levels more quickly.

However, you can't train strength on a whip, so you'd need to switch to a less efficient weapon. So you might as well do controlled...or train attack to its goal before the other two.

Common belief, but I would have to say thats false. Mainly because the whip, the primary training weapon doesn't have the capability of training stregnth. You get 99 attack and 80/80. Now to train str, you have to use a d scimmy which is alot slowly. Yeah, stick to controlled.

Something that people don't seem to realize through this topic is that a focused skill will give 4xp/damage to the skill it is focused on. However, the controlled style gives 1.5xp/damage to all 3 stats. This means that in total, you actually gain 4.5xp/damage with the controlled style. It may take longer for you to level each individual stat up, however in the long run you should receive the experience quicker. Your choice to stick with controlled was probably a good one.

Hitpoints also receives 1.5xp/damage, regardless of what style of combat you use. Slayer gives about 1xp/damage (you usually get around the monster's HP as slayer xp, so that's about what it comes out too). About the only way you could get 99 slayer without getting 99 Attack, Strength, or Defense would be by using Range and Magic to kill some monsters as well such to balance out your stats. For Hitpoints, I'm not entirely sure how you would be able to do it since you always gain 1.5xp/damage. I'd say the only way you'd even come close to getting your Slayer Cape before Hitpoints would be by getting lots of Dragon tasks and using Dragon Slayer gloves. Either that or receive lots of experience from Lamps, Tombs of Knowledge and other stuff that raises your Slayer but not your hitpoints.

I thought when doing controlled you get 1.3xp???

From tip.it

Alternatively you can choose a 'controlled' style where you receive equal xp between all three combat skills. Your hits always receives xp in any style.

Focused training gives (4*damage inflicted) xp to that one skill and (1.33*damage inflicted) xp to your hits level.

Controlled training gives (1.33*damage inflicted) xp to each of the four skills.

Untrimmed Slayer is possible.. But ONLY if you use a Cannon, and every possible bonus to slayer (lamps, books, ect.). And you must train all stats to high 90's combat to get untrimmed slayer.. I believe 2-3 people in the world have it, so it'd be a good goal for you.

Hmmm... My mistake then. I thought at one point it gave 1.5xp/damage, but I guess that was either changed or I had the numbers wrong to begin with. Disregard my last post.
