Sony's Big Lie in the Next Console War

Very good point, I think the PS3's gonna be a solid system but that dude's probably right about no developers coming through in time for the launch.

*sigh* It's the GameCube all over again :(.

hehe, i used to be a nintendo fanboy but i realized that pc and other systems are greater. all nintendo has now are its famous series, like legend of zelda, mario, etc. i predict nintendo will be out of the console wars after the 3rd gen comes out, due to money and lack of 3rd party support.

Those titles sell it. I for one will be getting the revolution (if the sticker price is under $300) and will get the major games - the super smash sequel, and the zelda games, if any. I will play them, and if theres an internet mode, be addicted to them, and to me, that will be worth it. I will probably either get a PS3 or XBox - one - so whichever one has the better games, I guess.

just play the games jeez. ill be sticking to nintendo, they have the fun games.

Namecalling isn't necessary and you just bumped a 10 day old post to say that you're going to play nintendo. Was that really necessary?

Seems so. Although I wouldn't really say "nerd" is name calling.

However I would think "geek" is more fitting given the circumstances.

*shrug*

Speaking of which, anyone got any new info?

The only thing I really know of is Square getting a deal good enough from Microsoft to have them considering a change of system...

No idea if that's old news or not :P

It's neither nerdy not geeky. It's called learning about products you might buy to make an educated purchase. If everybody did that, a lot of bad products would have been weeded out of the market. And I'm not just talking about consoles.

That's not good. I don't want to be forced to get the nex X-box. Although, I haven't tried the 360 I have confidence in sony and will be getting the ps3 if the price is alright. I would have second thoughts if Square made that move thouhg.

I think square is considering xbox360 for the MMO's because of it's online capabilities but hey haven̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t said anything else apart from the FFOnline deal. I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to do almost anything to get an exclusive from them however.

Some magazine scans which say the Killzone trailer was rendered at about 5 frames per second and sped up to 60 plus some other nice looking screenshots (multiple pages, go back and forth at the bottom). If they released enough titles I like I would consider buying it. It looks like the PS3 can do some form of justice to them. How much we don't know yet.

And finally here are the confirmed games for Xbox360 so far.

Haha..it says "Sonic game." Breaks my heart to see FF XI on there. Granted the switch from Nintendo to Playstation probably would have had the same affect on me had I known about it then.

Dude, Nintendo won't be running out of money any time soon.

Do you know how many handhelds they are selling (mainly all the GBA models, plus the new DS) and the amount of fans supporting them?

I'd give it 15 years and see where they are.

It won't matter if you own a 360 or a ps3. They both have nearly the same power. Also, developer's costs will be very high next gen, so there will be even more multy plat titles. Capcom has allready mentioned this and square is developing games for the 360.

I'm only concerned about the revolution. Nintendo has still yet to get the dev kits to the 3rd party developers and faces a launch lineup of just 1st party titles in 2006. Thats if they can launch that system then at all.

So the Killzone video was real-time but so intense (calculations) that it only came out at 5 fps ? Then what on earth was the point of it ? What were they thinking ? It doesn't prove much. Admittedly for a console to produce something that good even at only 5 fps is amazing (you'd think it'd calculate something that good-looking at less than one frame per second, so the 5 fps is impressive by itself and does give an indication of how powerful the console is), but 5 fps is not playable material, which is kind of the point of a console, lol.

Papickett, after reading your post I don't quite have the time left to read every response before responding.

Firstly, great post. Most notably for, "I see through the marketing rubbish". Sony, MS, Nintendo, they all do it, they all tell porkies to the best of their ability. If they think they can get away with it, they will do it. The trick is, which you have showed here quite well, is picking apart this, "information" and deciding for yourself what bits are true and which bits are not.

Personally, I think Sony have their hands full with MS. MS have proven with the xBox, (somthing I do not own), that they have the financial and market know-how, to produce a top quality system with a lot of support. Nintendo and Sega have never been able to compete toe to toe like this.

I won't get into an argument over which console is the best or which next gen-console will be the best, only time and personal preference will tell.

As for your essay practice: I have had to do a lot of proof reading for other peoples essays at degree level. I thought you wrote a compelling argument, that was easy to read and made good sense mose. However, I do think you should not of been so "one-sided". Some peoeple consider this to be a good essay when you really passsionatly argue a case, but technicaly, it is better I believe, to add elements of suspician and question the other side as well as your own points of view. Lastly, references would of been nice :P

Thanks for the good read.

nintendo 64 ruled!

and nintendo ds rules now, i love nintendo!

Nintendo, quietly makeing profits, and coming out with revolutionary games.

Why do some people act like the ever present counsel wars is like the superbowl? I buy good games, not the first ones to come out. (PS2 was the worst councel I ever bought, bad games)

Pc magazines recent issue now says the ps3 will launch in Japan in the Spring and holiday season 2006 in the US. So that article so far is dead on with their estimates. They quote the theroetical 2 teraflop processing power. twice as powerful as the x box, so they do give some hint of having bought the more powerful line...but also note that the performance will show the real difference.

A big factor might be backwards compatability. Ps will be backwards compatible with all ps1 and 2. The MS system will be only backwards compatible with the most popular titles, and the Nintendo system will actually allow download of classic nintendo titles from the early days (now that would be cool, finally a legal alternative to the emulators).

I don't own a console, and with the price of games, not sure I will. But how much do media hub features mean to you all? Because they are both packing them in.

THats now wrong. MS signed a deal with NVIDA to make the all the games backwards compatible.

THe media hub actuall cold be a waste of money for those who don't use it. Basically Sony and MS will probably dump CD buring technology into it and add media players. For example, MS plan to add ipod technology to their console so songs can be streamed onto the ipod and taken off with the 360. That might add ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10 to the console, but whats the point if u dont own an ipod. Again MS, Sony, Ninty both plan to allow their handhelds to work on their system (exept for MS who plan to make it so both the DS and PSP work on the 360), but if you dont own one its just another part of the console price wasted.

THese are the predictions for the prices of the next conosel war

Sony PS3: Game: $60 console: $400

Xbox 360: Games: $60 console $300.

Revo: Games: $50 Console: $250
